The Green Pig

We just stopped along the highway at The Green Pig food truck and had a delicious lunch. I had the outstanding pulled pork with brown rice and salad, my friend had the Kelia Melt, a melted cheese sandwich with sautéed onions and arugula. We split an order of curly fries. All food was very tasty and fresh. We ate at a picnic table under an awning. We were accompanied by chickens and cats roaming around looking for a dropped morsel. Overall we thought it was a great, local experience.

This was some of the best food I had on the island. Excellent plate lunch. We had the fried chicken and the breaded pork loin. Both were excellent. If you are on the way to the north shore this place is 100 percent worth a stop for good Hawaiian grindz.

YUM! This place was awesome. I got the pork belly sandwich & my fiancé got the pulled pork – both were delicious but I would recommend the pork belly (called the «Fat Boy» on their menu). We also got some curly fries… mmmmmm. The woman who took our order was also charming & super friendly. Check this place out!

Filled with indulgent pork options, including the most flavorful, perfectly-​cooked bacon but also amazing is the garden wrap!!! It’s light and refreshing but plenty of food so you’re not hungry after. Really exceptional!

Saw this place on the way up to Princeville. When we came down to kayak on the Waialua river, our guide said this was the place for good BBQ. He was right. We were the first ones there went we went. I wanted the Fat Boy, but unfortunately they were out of pork bellies. So I ended up with the Porkaholic… best decision for me. I really enjoyed it… would have ordered and eaten another if i was alone. However, the family was with me. We enjoyed a great meal at a picnic bench, looking out towards the ocean. Definitely a place to dine and when we come back to Kauai, we will make sure to stop in again.

Let me start off by saying that before my trip to Kauai in September, I Unilocaled restaurants and food to try out during our vacation. And I must say, every single review that said the food trucks in Kauai were the way to go, well they were definitely right. Especially when it comes to eating at The Green Pig. This was by far my favorite food I tried. My husband and I didn’t stop to eat here until our last day. I am wishing we would have stopped earlier in our trip because had we did, we would have eaten at the green pig a few more times during our vacation.
I definitely recommend trying the PorkAHolic sandwich. Breaded pork with shredded pork, bacon and BBQ sauce. I added pepperjack cheese. It was very very very good and hit the spot. I have actually craved it since I have been back home and wish I could have it again.
I wanted to try their loaded piggy tails but unfortunately they hadn’t received their shipment of potatoes so we were not able to order them.
The lady suggested their fried mac and cheese. We did not order it but looking back I wish we did.
I could have been starving, but this was my favorite meal in Kauai. simple, casual, under 15 bucks and was a party for my taste buds!
TRY THIS PLACE, you will be glad you did. (its on the north shore towards Princeville.)

The food here was amazing! Our son is a picky eater and he LOVED this place and wants to go back before we leave. We got there at 359pm yesterday but they were closed =(See you tomorrow!

Hands down, best meal I’ve had on the island. I had the Lau Lau Special plate with the coleslaw. Delicious and service was friendly. Must try!

Really good food at reasonable price. Fun part of the food truck scene right across from the beach. We shared a pulled pork sandwich and piggy tails (curly fries) after a good waterfall hike. I’d recommend this spot for a casual meal.

Read about the curly fries with kahlua pork and gravy so had to stop for a guilty pleasure. They were fun and definitely plenty for 2 or more to share and try but don’t count on a low sodium dish. Would certainly recommend the bbq pulled pork sandwich-​tasty and the perfect amount of sweetness. Food is certainly prepared to order-​we were the only ones there at around 11:15 on a Friday so had to wait about 7 minutes. Took over to the beach to enjoy (would have been good with a cerveza fria!)

Wow! We had an awesome lunch here. We shared a Fatboy sandwich and pulled pork sandwich and they were out of this world!!! SO yummy!!! I’m so glad that we stopped at this amazing food truck. Frankly we had better food at this food truck than some fancy restaurant.
We will definitely return when we come back to Kauai. Awesome!!!

The name caught my eye!
Being a good Unilocaler, I based my stop on the reviews and was not disappointed–
It is a kitschy little spot decorated with green pigs-​I ordered the chicken fried chicken sandwich and it was delicious, messy to eat but worth the efforts to conquer it–
As a side I ordered the Jiggy Piggy Tails, curly fries topped with pull pork and brown gravy– good flavors but the whole thing was very heavy and salty-​just be aware it is not a light dish– a beer would have been a great compliment to this meal–

I would not recommend this food establishment. The person that waited on me was very rude. I ordered a veggie wrap and when I sat down to eat it after I took a few bites, I noticed that it had no avocado in it.
I took it back to the window, she yelled at me for bringing it back. I told her that she should have told me she was out of avos, since that was the main ingredient of the sandwich. She told me that I should not have taken any bites out of it. And wanted to argue with me about it. She did give me a refund, but not happily.
She did not care that she deceived me, but only wanted to beret me. She ruined my whole day by being so unkind. Not to mention, I will never come back to her food truck. She definitely did not have a to please attitude.

The Green Pig, right across from Kealia Beach has got to be on everyone’s Pig Trough for a dining experience. Their menu is unique, fun and delicious. Would highly recommend their #1 selections. The best and we are still trying everything. Their deep fried Mac-​n-​cheese is very good. The lady’s who play at this business have truly found their niche. They have fun

The jiggy piggy tails… amazing! Who says no to curly fries, roast pull pork, and brown gravy all over!!! Super duper green since they serve your «dine in» order with real plates and utensils.

The Green Pig is the only high quality wet BBQ on Kauai. Excellent pork and BBQ sauce. Sweet with a nice kick. I have tried many menu items and have always been very satisfied.
Look out for the fried mac and cheese balls — oh so wrong yet so right. I also enjoy the plate lunches or sandwiches. There is even a nice veggie wrap (with bacon optional).

Sometimes the wait time can be long, but that’s what happens when you are popular at lunch time! Quality and flavors and portions are fantastic and worth the $.
All the pork items are awesome. If you’re not a pork fan, try the chicken fried chicken — they have it in a sandwich and a loco moco. In the past, I had asked for this awesome salad with beets that they had had previously but I did not see it on the menu. She said she had beets and she could put a salad together for me. I thought that was a generous gesture bc really… who wants to handle and prep beets?
My schedule prevents me from eating there often (prob a good thing for my waistline) but I am always thinking about when I can possibly go again.
They are passionate chefs who are all about the food. One of 3 trucks on island I highly recommend.

Wow am I glad that I spotted this truck while driving past it!
On our last day on the island, after spending much of our trip eating all of the poke in Hawaii, we decided pork was a great idea so we stopped at The Green pig for lunch.
We had checked out some reviews before stopping and already decided that we needed the pig tail disco fries and the fried chicken moco loco. Thanks to some suffers, they sold out of fried chicken just moments before we arrived. Ugh. I really wanted that fried chicken… and then a man claimed his order and our eyes lit up and that is when we decided to order the Pig o holic sandwich and some disco pig tail fries. The sandwich contained fried pork loin, bbq pulled pork, Jacon (the chef’s own bacon), lettuce, tomato and mayo… and WOW. It was amazing. The pork loin was so juicy and all of the ingredients were clearly incredibly fresh. We also completely devoured our disco fries loving the tender shredded pork and gravy. Delicious.
It’s probably a good thing that we didn’t eat here until our last day. If we had before, it would have been really hard not going every day! Definitely check it out!

I always pass this place on the way to the north shore. Finally pulled over and tried it out. So glad I took the time to try this place out!
Had the Fatboy with crispy pork belly, fried Mac and cheese and BBQ pulled pork sandwich.
The «Fatboy» was amazing! The crispy pork belly was delicious and on a French toast bread.
BBQ pulled pork sandwich was tasty and juicy! Def a recommended item.

We had the Pig-​a-​Holic sandwich, a Local Plate w/​crispy pork belly & fried chicken & tried the deep fried MAC n cheese. HUGE portions. Everything was delicious! Definitely a heavy heavy meal, but they have salad on the menu for those looking for lighter fare.
The atmosphere eating at picnic tables outside is perfect to enjoy the beach breeze from the beach across the street. Be prepared to eat w/​the chickens roaming around. Overall great experience!
