Raf’s Auto Service

The only mechanic I would use for our vehicles and this is not the first time I’ve used Raf, just didn’t had a chance to rate him. He’s straight to the point on his pricing and schedule quickly. The only cons is you have to constantly calling him as they are so busy and don’t answer calls all the time, other than time, he’s excellent and if that improves I will give him 5 stars!

The ONLY place I bring my ride when I dont want to get ripped off. These guys are honest and its rare in the auto service business. They deserve the 5 stars.

Raf and his staff were all very nice and helpful. Prices were great and I didn’t feel overcharged as I have been from other places. I didn’t have to wait a month to get an appointment; I was able to go the next day! Raf and Dave were not pushy at all; super helpful. I am not car savvy at all; all I knew was that my AC wasn’t working, it was 90 degrees outside and it needed to be fixed. I was very pleased with their work, honesty and integrity. I told my friends about the price and they all said, «so cheap!»
So glad he’s in Kapolei and I don’t have to go into town. I highly recommend Raf’s!

This is where we bring our car if it needs repairs because they are trustworthy. I wish I could give the full five stars, but something that is really frustrating is that they don’t answer their phone! Last time I needed work on my car I tried calling them three days in a row about 5 times each day, no answer! I had to drive down there and talk to someone in person. When I picked the car up after it was repaired, it was having some issues, so I wanted to call and talk to them about it, but no one answers again! So I had to drive down there again! I understand your busy, but maybe they need to hire some more people so they can answer the phone and return calls. Thank you :)

So thankful I found Raf’s business. After getting a $ 2000 quote from Kapolei Goodyear to get my AC fixed, I decided to drive over to get another estimate from Raf’s…didn’t even have an appointment. Not only was his estimate significantly better, he was able to complete it the following day. AC is fixed and Raf’s is now the place where we’ll be taking our cars from now on. Super nice people. Raf not only stopped working on a car to greet us, he also made sure my car went in ASAP. Found out they were busy AND Raf had other family obligations to attend to, but they still provided top notch service with a smile. As a person that likes to work on his car by himself, I messed up the install of one of my motor mounts on my car. The bolt stripped the aluminum socket in the car and I had my car sitting for over a week. I called and the phone was answered promptly. Happy about the pleasant phone conversation, I decided to have my Mazdaspeed 3 towed there and quickly followed it in a separate car.
My car is my pride and joy, so I was very skeptical about taking it to any shop. David and Raf, the owner, were both there to greet me and to make sure that everything would be taken care of. I put the instructions along with the new mount in there and told them everything that concerned me. I never got the smug feeling that I have from going to many different shops on the island. They got to work and gave me a call when they were done, so that I could jet over there and see how many organs I’d have to sell to pay for the job. To my surprise, they charged me a THIRD of what other shops said it would cost. I was in shock. Excited from all the savings I went outside to drive off into the sunset.
Unfortunately, the car had been sitting for over a week so the stock battery pooped out and I could not start the car. Within 30 seconds of giving him the green light, Raf himself and another employee of his was installing the new Interstate battery. The employee while very professional seemed to have a concern (as I peered in from the reception area). Raf quickly jogged over there and made sure that everything was 100. That put me to rest; what a great business.
They were so good that I went back today to get my oil change done. They said it would take about an hour but it felt like 30 – 45 minutes; I am happy camper. I brought my own oil and filter. To my surprise the mechanic ran from my car deep in the garage to ask me if I knew that I bought a different viscosity than specified in the book. I told him that it was intended and he quickly got back to work. They pay attention to detail there and really made me feel at home.
I almost don’t see a purpose in working on any of my cars when I can just go to Raf’s. Time to find a new hobby, I guess.

I went to Raf’s after seeing their reviews and being recommended by a client of mine. I was having trouble with my car starting and my air condition also stopped working. I was told that they would have to test the vehicle to see what the issues were. I never signed any papers nor was given a price. I knew they would probably charge me for the diagnosis and assumed it would be the $ 100 diagnostic test posted; however after receiving the diagnosis I was told it would be $ 150 since they ran two tests that weren’t the one posted. I saw their quoted prices for parts and labor: about $ 650 for changing the alternator and AC resistor. I decided to cut my losses and do the work myself. In the end I paid $ 20 for the AC part (they wanted $ 100), and $ 200 for the alternator ($ 325 for them). Took me less than 2.5hours to do the work, and this was my first auto maintenance other than checking the oil. The was personable and professional and that’s about it’s only saving grace. I was hoping Raf’s would be different from other mechanic shops that charge big money you for easy things; however, I was let down. Raf’s is a bit cheaper than other places but only because they aren’t a big name Garage. But I do want to mention that their mechanic showed me how to replace the AC resistor on my own, which had led me to do my own auto work now, so I do have Raf’s to thank.
My recommendation is, if you’re out of sorts with mechanics or you would like to spend money to have peace of mind and have someone do it for you, give Raf’s a try. Otherwise, do it yourself or find someone cheaper.

I’ve taken both of my vehicles to rafs (altima and yukon) this was my 4^th time back. I screwed up my break job so i needed that to be corrected and needed my break master cylinder replaced. I told David I was broke and he more than fully accommodated me and worked with my budget. As always, Raf was there to say hello. I brought my own parts in and they had my vehicle done quickly. Even though they were extremely busy. They support the troops and provide a generous military discount. rafs son also provides shuttle service if you live around the area. Rafs has my business indefinitely

These guys are real and honest… and well the type of people that you would send you grandmother to. I BF and his mother came in to see how much it would be to change our break pads because we started hearing that metal to metal sound. We called around asking for quotes just so we know what to expect. We took it in and they told us that we didn’t need to change out break pads yet. That somehow while driving we might have hit a deep pot hole that moved out tire sensor out of place. Without us even asking they fixed it and recommended that we give out break pads a few more months before changing it. AGAIN, they refused our gratuity.

My truck’s brakes gave out and it was extremely scary and I was afraid it would be super costly. I had never had to take my truck anywhere besides an oil change so I Unilocaled places near Kapolei and Raf’s had great reviews.
I called Raf’s on 9÷13÷14 at 10am and the man who answered suggested I come in for a free (YES! FREE!) brake inspection after 1pm. I carefully drove my truck down and was greeted by Raf himself. He took me inside, asked a few questions, and immediately took my keys to inspect my truck. Within 10 minutes he already knew what was wrong. I needed a new master cylinder… YIKES! What I especially liked about Raf’s is he SHOWED me what was wrong and explained things in layman terms so I understood. Goodyear never did that! Then he gave me a quote and I was surprised it wasn’t more. My husband took the truck back on Friday 9÷19÷14 @ 8am and the job was done by 11am and the price was nearly $ 100 less than the original quote! WOW!

I came in to receive a quote on auto repair. Raf and his team were so nice and helpful. I didn’t feel pressured about additional fixes or scheduling an appointment right away. Raf took me over to my car and clearly explained what the problem was and how it could be resolved. The visual explanation was very helpful. Raf was able to give me a quote right away and answer all of my other questions about my car.
A couple days later, I scheduled an appointment to drop off my car for the repair and I was very satisfied with the quality and efficiency of Raf and his staff. Raf stuck to his quote and there were no «hidden» problems, which seem to occur at other shops.
I am so thankful to find a quality mechanic in Kapolei and I will definitely be a repeat customer!

I got my front brakes & rotors plus synthetic oil change done at Raf’s & I couldn’t be happier. There were no surprise bill at the end of the day, just exactly what was quoted to me. And to be honest, it was way lower than the other quotes I got before finding this hidden gem on Unilocal.
This shop is not out to rip people off like several automotive places I’ve come across. They do quality work & in turn has established a good name and reputation for themselves. I spoke with Raf himself when I picked up my car & he said he no longer advertises, because he has more than enough business through word of mouth & repeat customers. He’s even expanded his shop & hired more people to help with his growing business.
This will definitely be my go to shop for all my automotive repair needs. Thank you for doing honest quality work at an affordable price! That’s hard to come by these days!

Busy man! I’m sad that my car is pretty much down for dumps, but just glad Raf wasn’t trying to push me towards any unnecessary fixes. He’s an honest man and definitely appreciate him taking the time to explain the problems and steps to take.

My car just shut off for no reason so I towed her to Raf’s. Came to find out that my gas cap was loose and it caused the whole car not to start as a safety precaution. He held on the car for 2 days just to make sure it wasn’t the starter and did a full on diagnostics check. When he called me to tell me she was done I figured I would have to dish out $ 300 but he told me NO CHARGE! Most companies would take advantage of a diagnostic test easily but not Raf. He and his staff are so awesome! Don’t go anywhere else! A++++++

Hey guys moved from Kapolei to town and just couldn’t get the quality professionalism I got from Raf’s automotives! So I drove all the way back to Kapolei to Raf’s and got my truck fixed! IT WAS WORTH EVERY MILE!

I can’t believe I have not reviewed him before!
I took my car into Raf back in October for an oil change as my test/​trial run for the business. I really don’t know a lot about cars and I am always fearful of being taken advantage of.
Raf is really friendly and accommodating. He is honest and respectful. He will not try to «upsell you» into buying a bunch of services either. He even explained an oil change to me visually and I didn’t feel stupid or looked down upon. He has looked at my car for free and only charged when he has to do something. I will always come from Waianae side to see this man. I would trust him with any car you have.
