Established in 2003.

The Cole Academy was started by working parents who wanted excellent care and education for their young children. The mission of The Cole Academy is to educate and nurture Hawaii’s youngest people, while giving families peace of mind and the support of an educational community. Our vision is a community that thrives when its families’ needs are met, and when its children develop a lifelong love of learning, fostered by their earliest teachers. We value children, families and teachers. We provide for their mutual success with a focus on education, care, connections and community.

Business Owner

The Cole Academy was founded by Gina Mangieri & Doug Ewalt when their first son, Cole, was born. They were searching for the highest-​quality childcare that would have a strong focus on academic & social kindergarten readiness. As working parents, they also needed a facility that could provide infant-​toddler care in addition to preschool, and one that would accommodate their schedules — opening early and closing late, with few closed days throughout a calendar year. Partnering with experts in early childhood education, they started The Cole Academy with the goal of providing exceptional care and education for children, and a reliable resource and workplace solution for parents.

Our daughter started at The Cole Academy when she was 3 months old. They offer such a nurturing and safe environment that I felt completely comfortable leaving my daughter there, sometimes for 11 hours/​day because of my commute time from town. She has had several teachers over the years including Ms. Martha, Ms. Julie, Ms. Lehua, and Ms. Marissa who were absolutely wonderful. She has become so smart from the curriculum developed by Dr. Janelle Akuna. She is now 5 years old in the Junior K class and often times brings home work being done in the classroom that is 1st grade level. The staff ignite her curiosity, and entice her to learn more everyday. They offer a great combination of learning and fun. Don’t let the tuition cost scare you away… it is worth every penny. Our daughter has been accepted to Punahou school for kindergarten and that proves how terrific this school is. We will be forever grateful for our experience with The Cole Academy in Kapolei.

We absolutely loved Cole Academy and are heartbroken our children don’t attend anymore (forced to move to a childcare center closer to home). My 5-​year-​old son, Tahno, just loved his teacher, Ms. Kristin. She accepted him with open arms day one and I don’t believe there was one day I didn’t see a smile on her face. My daughter 2.5-year-old daughter, Mia, got pretty attached to her teachers Ms. Kelsey and Ms. Rebecca, so much that she still always talks about them at home. Cole Academy’s curriculum is top notch phenomenal and so are the many activities and programs they involve the children in. My favorite time of night was going over Tahno’s schoolwork with him and seeing just how many concepts he has learned in such a short period of time (we were only there two months). My husband and I had many conversations about nixing the easier commute time w/​the closer childcare center and keeping them at Cole. It was a super tough decision and we just may end up going back. Thank you to the management and staff for caring for our children.

BEST SCHOOL ON ISLAND!
Parents, if you are worried about leaving your child with someone, you should look no further once you tour the Cole Academy. I am so happy to have found this place and my daughter loves going to school. Not only do the staff care for my child like she was there own, but they even care about the parents. They do a great job of keeping parents informed about the daily activities, events, and milestones that occur while children are in their care. We also receive updates about the staff which makes me feel closer to them as a parent. I have an incredible sense of peace knowing that she is in an educationally sound, nurturing, and extremely organized environment during the day.

We went here our first year… went to another school this year and now I’m trying to get back in. It’s that good of a school!
Not only do they teach the kids ABC’s and 123’s but they teach them foreign language and Hawaiian. You cannot put a price tag on the future potential of being bi-​lingual or tri-​lingual! They also reinforce potty training and good nutrition.
The major aha moment… my child asks to go back every-​time we drive by. That says something meaningful coming from a toddler!

We recently moved to Ewa Beach with our four month old from Pensacola, FL. We were looking for, of course, the best daycare for him. We definitely found that with the Cole Academy. The facility is clean, secure and full of happy kids! Miss Ellen is amazing and my son loves her, and he’s a tough cookie. He doesn’t love just anyone. Miss Janelle is great — she was so patient with me and answered all of my questions. And I had a lot! The curriculum is impressive and I can already see differences in how my baby interacts with us. I love this place and would HIGHLY recommend to anyone!

My children used to go to the Cole Academy, and we all loved them so much. My only regret was I didn’t make enough to keep them there. My 4 year old daughter still asks for her teacher Ms. Shannon, and I know my 1 year old misses all of her teachers as well. We miss you Cole Academy!

My nephew goes here and he loves it. The staff are so wonderful and great with kids. Living in Pennsylvania, I have only been here twice and the people are so friendly and kind to my 4 year old nephew.

My 2 year old daugher, my husband, and I all love Cole Academy. The staff there are all very friendly and attentive to our child. The curriculum is great and my child has already developed a love for learning. They learn different languages and about different cultures, as well as many arts and crafts and hands-​on activities. They have a lot of manipulatives for learning and developing coordination and skill. The school has frequent events and always welcome parents to join in. They have clean facilities and a nice outdoor play area. The school does offer a catered lunch since they do not prepare food in site. We have gone through two teachers there and they have both been excellent about communicating with me. I have no doubt that my child is taken care of and cared for while my husband and I are at work. If you have any questions then take them to the Director Dr. Janelle because she is the expert in early childhood development! This school is expensive, but worth it. Be sure to check in to a GSA subsidy if you are military!

The facility is very clean, smells good. Security measures are great.
My baby started at 6 months. His teachers are awesome! I love the fact they are 3:1 ratio and there is a set curriculum even at his age. Education is important to me and they meet my standard all the way.
Downfall: it is a bit expensive, but worth the money.
