Great road bikes but turned out one could have used a closer inspection as it had a flat. Service was awesome. They quickly offered a refund on the one bike for the time lost on changing out the flat. I highly recommend stopping here at the very beginning of the trail if coming from the south of Kauai.

I made a one day bike rental here. This place was actually a recommendation from another bike rental place that didn’t have a good selection of bikes. For $ 30 I got a Specialized hybrid bike, a helmet and a lock. The guys at the shop were friendly and helpful. They tuned & adjusted everything and gave me great tips on where to ride. The equipment performed well and their recommendations on where to ride were spot on. I’ll rent from them again on my next trip to Kauai.

Shop owner had trouble resolving repeated tube failures all after less than five miles of bike path riding. Tried a new tube twice, added a liner and a new tube on the third occasion and switched to a super tube for the fourth. That failed at five miles. Finally they decided the valve hole was a bit rough. One might think they’d stand behind their work, but no, full price and labor. I’m regretting buying my wife a new bike from them and a keiki trailer as well. I mistook their enthusiasm for competence, and their smiles for fair customer service. As I left the owner boasted that all tubes can blow out after just a few miles. Fortunately my other three bikes were safely a few blocks away and their old tubes didn’t hear.

Bryan provided excellent service, was honest and very knowledgable .You could tell the whole crew were stoked, and had passion for what they do. It’s great when you find a place in kauai that is above your expectations.

5 stars. Johnny helped us out and we had an awesome day. We rented two 29ers FSR bikes that were expertly setup plus helmets for $ 120. Johnny recommended a trail inland from Koloa that was fantastic. If you’ve done a bit of MTB then this must be the best day and the best deal in Kauai. This store is easy to find and the people are great. I can’t recommend this too highly. For some reason the hotels don’t promote this sort of thing but the trail we went on was safe and so different from the mainland.

We just bought two Specialized 7 speed cruisers. We were helped by an extremely knowledgable gentleman. We were thrilled with the service, the products and we will be loyal customers… support local business! Highly recommend!!! Oh yes… their rental bikes for tourists looked way better than other competitors!

This seemed like a solid bike shop. They got the recommendation from our concierge over the more local joint, so I was willing to make the drive. Their selection of bikes (both road and mountain) for rent was also much greater and more available, so that’s what won me.
I ride a 54 cm Fuji Easton road bike at home, and they matched me (nicely!) with a Specialized Allez 54 cm. Their road bikes all come with Armadillo tires: trust me, you’ll need these, due to roadside debris. They also give you a tool pouch with spare tube, spoons, and hand pump for any roadside fixes. Notably, they lent me SPD clips (I had brought mine with me, but foolishly left them at the hotel). So once I got back, I could just clip in with my shoes, and off I went. Only problem with my bike was that my seat kept slipping down just about 1 – 2 inches over the course of a ride. Just subtle enough to be obnoxious, and lose pedaling power.
My husband initially rented a mountain bike (Rockhopper base model), but exhausted the mountain biking within three days. Note to mountain bikers: unless you want to do the Powerline Trail (which is dozens of miles long) in either sections or one go, there seems to be a limitation of MTB destination.
The roads here are, shall we say, undeveloped for serious cycling. To be honest, and to no fault of the bike shop, the lack of bicycle infrastructure is disappointing. While I am the kind who goes out on all roads and in all weather (and believe me, both wind and rain presented challenges here), it’s mildly crappy when there is 0.5 inches of shoulder with erratic drivers who aren’t seemingly used to cyclists. While a local may have a different opinion, and someone at the shop may say otherwise, this is just my perception as a California visitor (so you can take it with a grain of salt).
Overall, the bikes seem well maintained. No blowouts, no flats, nice to get the fix-​it kits, and especially nice to get the clip pedals free of charge. I think they also rent helmets; I didn’t partake as I brought all my gear.
They do sell Kauai bike maps, which might interest especially mountain bikers: there seemed to be tons of fire roads (not so much single track) to do, and these were fairly detailed. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and helpful.
I would definitely recommend this place to someone who was looking to rent bikes, especially if you want more somewhat serious bikes (i.e. road or mountain) vs. just beach cruisers. Those places seem a dime a dozen, although they rent those, too.

If you’re looking to rent a top-​shelf roadbike, this is the place. For my ride up Waimea canyon I was able to pick up a 56 cm Specialized Venge. Alternatively, there was a 55 cm Roubaix available as wellZ I couldn’t have asked for more. Great people, great shop. Chris could be a bit less of a sour puss, but everyone else was cheery and helpful. Highly recommend overall.

Rented two bikes today. They were excellent well maintained cruisers just perfect for riding the 10 mile bike path in Kapaa.
The staff is very professional as they are a Specialized Bike Dealer.
We paid 20 $ for two bikes for 4 hrs. Maybe a bit more than others in the area but the bikes were perfectly set up and in great condition.
Includes helmet if you wish, lock and basket on front. We’ll definitely use them again while we’re here.

My wife and I were on our honeymoon and we were tired of the beach after a week, so we decided to rent a tandem bike and ride up and down the coast. The shop was really helpful and the pricing was really reasonable. We’d definitely use them again.

A huge thumbs up for Kauai Cycle because of the quality of the bike, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the very reasonable rental rates. I would not hesitate to rent from them again and plan to do so for any trip to the island I feel like riding.
I rented a road bike which turned out to be a Specialized Allez. The bike was in great mechanical condition although it did have a few cosmetic blemishes but nothing really big. They also use heavy duty tires because of all of the road crap and glass on the roads. The bike also came with a flat fix-​it kit under the seat and a lock — no extra charge. I was also offered a helmet but since I brought my own I declined.
When I called from the mainland I mentioned that I had a neck injury and that I would need the handle bars as upright as possible. They told me that they would try to work with me as best they could to make the bike comfortable. I was worried but brought my own stem extenders and raised stem to the island. The mechanic spent about 15 minutes with the bike and my stems and was able to raise the handle bars enough for me to be comfortable. He also changed out the pedals for my own that I brought.
The specific reason for renting the bike was to ride in the Pedal to the Meadow bike race which is up Waimea Canyon. Kauai Cycle was a sponsor of the race and the 2 mechanics were happy to tell me about the ride and were very encouraging. They also invited me to the group ride the following day.

Friendly staff and owner but if you rent a road bike and are serious about riding, look elsewhere. I got my specialized allez bike and the mechanic was nice enough to cleaned up the drivetrain but the STI shifter hood and handlebar tape was pretty dirty. After coming back to the hotel, I cleaned it up using baby wipes! The bike came with a flip adjustable seatpost clamp which had a hard time holding the seatpost, resulting in a constantly slipping post. You may want them to change it to a bolt style clamp.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my 37 years. I will never return and will consistently encourage others not to go here. Better bike shop only a few blocks away.

2012 and these guys are still renting bikes for $ 10 for 4 hours/​$ 20 for the day! Really the best bang for you buck. Great staff, ended up renting from them twice while on the island. The other bonus… they really are at the beginning of the Kauai Path on the coast, so it ends up being 10 miles out and back currently on the path. Highly recommend these guys and the riding the path!

Cool shop with knowledgeable staff. More expensive than I felt was fair (2x MTB, helmet, and lock for 1 day ran us over $ 100), but you can’t really bring your own bike. Semi-​centrally located on the island. Bikes were great and service was friendly. Cool shirts, too.

These guys did a fantastic job renting us bikes. Duh hand you a bike right? No, they fitted the bikes to us, made sure they were working perfectly and then pointed us to the best local MTB trails. On top of that they were really friendly and helpful. The trails were nothing amazing for trails, but the views were awesome and we had a great time. A local was asking how we found the trail as it was his favorite so five stars!

This place would have gotten 5 stars if I hadn’t seen a rental place that was $ 10 cheaper (but who knows, maybe the bikes at the other place were crap) and if my bike had a little bell.
The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. They do repairs at this location as well as rent bikes (4 hour or the whole day). The store closed at 4 so we only had about 3 ½ hours with our bikes but that was enough for me to get a decent cardio workout and a TAN! Just stick to the bike path and if you have time you can go down to one of the beaches along the way. You can’t go wrong for $ 10 per bike on a nice day.
It was a great experience. I would recommend it to anyone. They take card too!
The bathroom, um, well, you should just use the bathroom at your hotel or in the big blue ocean. It was like a mechanics shop restroom. Not filthy but it was in what seemed to be the storage space and it had no door (there was a door to the storage room).
