Amazing place!
I come here for all my incense and essential oils. If you’re a holistic type person and you haven’t been here, I don’t know why. The teas are fantastic! They have tea blends for everything you can think of, from prenatal to «Mental Claritea». My dad swore by one of their teas while going through cancer treatments. Lots of supplements, soaps, and smell goods. Phoenix Herb Company is the only place in the city that sells my favorite perfume oil, and my boyfriend’s as well! Wonderful, wonderful establishment! Just come here and look around, I’m sure you’ll find something better that suits you here.

Best place to get herbs! I haven’t seen a location like this in a long time. The workers were kind. Don’t go if you are in a hurry. They take their time. But in a bad way. Just be patient because they are thorough.

Woohoo. I stopped by this place after seeing a herb plant sale sign on my way to work for the last couple weeks. I finally had time to stop by. I went in to ask about the prices, and the clerk looked up the prices (which were a steal even before the discount). Then the owner came up and told me to take them for free because the plants needed to get in the soil days/​weeks ago and he did not want me to pay for something past its prime and he wanted me to try save as many plants as possible. So extra points for free herbs and trying to save some plants from imminent death on the shelf. So far the plants are doing well, only one looks on its way out the others are thriving. I will definitely be back to patronize this institution, hope you will do the same as well.
As for the rest of the store, I did get a chance to look around, and from what I saw it seemed nice and laid back. Everyone was helpful, and I loved the smell of herbs as you enter the store. It reminded me of visiting herbal stores in Chinatown and the herbal balms that my grandparents used to use.

Jeff and his team genuinely care about their customers… I would highly recommend their business and product offering to anyone serious about their health and longevity!

Great shop. Reasonable prices. There’s something here for every nearly every little ache and pain you have. Was surprised to find Cat’s claw, but I suppose only people with knowledge about it would buy it as it requires some caution. Couldn’t help overhearing a conversation between a customer and a very knowledgeable staffer. Was impressed by his knowledge and advice. Selected several herbs and I would have given 5 stars up to that point. The lady (wears glasses) who bagged them works in very low gear. Then in the middle of it, another worker walked by and made a brief comment, but the person serving me decided she needed to swivel around and start carrying on a conversation with her in lieu of continuing to serve me. So I had to just stand there and wait until she completed this inane conversation and then began again to s-​l-​o-​w-​l-​y weigh and measure my choices. I guess she missed the customer service seminar.

I have been going to this place since it was the House of Hezekiah. The only thing I would say if you need to give some training on being a people person to the bald chick with the glasses. All the other people that work there are super friendly. Love my Phoenix Teas.

This place was so great! Friendly staff and very helpful. They had a huge selection of teas and spices to choose from. And many other gift items. They were very well priced as well. I will definitely be back.

Great herb shop: tons of loose leaf herbs, tons of loose leaf teas, tons of herb accessories and more. With the wide variety and the friendly and knowledgeable, you are sure to get great customer service!

What a gem! As almost every other review states, the staff here is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. I recently became interested in Essential Oils, but don’t know much about them. I felt some flu-​like symptoms coming on and came in looking for a natural preventative. The young man working suggested Oregano Oil as an antiviral/​immune booster and let me try some in the store.
He also suggested some Throat Tea to brew up for my sore throat. He spent a lot of time explaining the tea prep to me and answered all my questions. There is so much fun stuff to browse through here, I plan on going back soon to expand my Essential Oils collection and try a new tea flavor.

I especially like the tea blends because it contains everything you need – all you have to do is drink it. I came for the PMS blend.. . PMS blend to the world!!!
I am thankful to the Unilocal community for guiding me here. I wish there were a greater presence of herbal stores throughout the world honestly.

Before I heard a master herbalist give a talk, I thought all herbs were green leaves related to ragweed or St. John’s Wort, and were liver busting deadly combinations. I didn’t know how interesting and helpful herbs were, especially root herbs, and Chinese herbs that certainly aren’t green and not ragweed descendants.
But I had no idea where to purchase them except online at sometimes sky rocketing prices. Then, I found myself drawn to Chinese herb tonics, and considering a course in master herbalism. Again, where can I buy them in Kansas City.
Someone kept mouthing me during the master herbalist talk, «Phoenix herbs.» So I visited Phoenix Herbs, and was delightfully surprised.
Inside are spices, in bulk (the price beats a favorite spice more of mine by a long shot), including vanilla beans at a ridiculously low price. Loose teas are next to the spices, then the array of herbs and equipment needed to cook or process the herbs.
The next room has root herbs, mushroom herbs and mixes of herbs. plus they carry supplements, and liquid herbal preparations. They also have a very complete area of food grade clay, for lifting out the toxins and antibacterial properties. I was happy and surprised about the clay they had for sale. I’ve never seen it anywhere in Kansas City. Clay is extremely beneficial.
The staff is top notch on education. I mean, they know their stuff. There’s a very small amount of books, as well. But I suggest talking to the staff. I’ll easily become a regular in this store, but probably duchess too… hmm…Duchess of Phoenix Herbs, almost has an ancient sound of a Chinese healing qigong. Bwhannng.

This is basically the perfect little source for everything that smells good – incense, essential oils, spices and teas. My friends and I stopped in here to pick up some bulk tea and we sniffed through a few jars before we found a fabulous-​smelling cranberry crème black tea. I just had a cup of the stuff brewed, and it tastes just as mild and flavorful as its scent – no milk or sugar needed.
There are bulk spices for sale as well. Instead of the getcha-​it-​yerself flavor that seems to be Whole Foods’ style, ask for help and a staff member will weigh your required quantity for you. We used a 20% off Unilocal check-​in offer, and although the owners had set it to end the day prior to our visit, our cashier honored it anyway. When you’re buying six ounces of tea, that’s a not-​insignificant number.
There is parking on the street, but if you’re out of luck on that front, there’s a small lot in the back through which you may gingerly navigate your car.
If I lived in this town I would be in here at least once a week, and I’m not exactly the hippie type. It’s a lovely refuge from the world where you can exercise one of your most underrated senses.

The guys at Phoenix Herb Company are awesome! After several bouts with pink eye (thanks to my wonderful one year olds at work!) I threw in the towel. Antibiotics weren’t working and I had heard that Phoenix Herb would mix you up something for whatever ails you!
So I headed on down there and they mixed fennel and ‘bright eyes’ giving me the proper instructions for application on my eyes, and other tips and tricks. Everyone was so helpful and I need to go back for more of the fun stuff like teas!
Anyway, their solution worked like a charm, and next time I get something I can’t shake, I’ll be down there in a jiffy. These guys have the knowledge and if you try to avoid meds like me, Phoenix should be your go-​to place! Their prices are super reasonable and they have such an amazing selection.

If you forgot your herb guide book at home, don’t panic. The staff is really helpful and knowledgeable about teas, herbs and supplements. It takes a couple of walk throughs to get your bearings, but once the initial «whoa» has worn off it’s easier to focus.
Herbs, Teas and supplements are easily identifiable and are separated for clarity. The black, whites and green teas are extraordinary, a little bit goes a long way, but when you drink lots of little bits all day, it runs out quickly. The Herbs and Teas are sold as a single herb/​tea or in blends for common ailments. I highly recommend the tea of tranquility, white peach, the citrus (green or white, can’t remember) Blueberry green tea, Rose mélange, morning energy and heart smart are also family favorites. While I wasn’t cured, the breathe deep did help.
When I go back to the store to replace my favorite tea, I walk out with another that becomes the ‘new favorite’.
Minus one star because I have sensitive sinus’ and the incense is very strong.

This store is my paradise. I could sit in here and stare at things all day. I buy all sorts of things here: tea, seasonings, herbs for medicine, essential oils (which I wear like perfume), incense, home décor, candles… The staff is friendly and helpful and always willing to make recommendations and bag up your items quickly. Prices are extremely fair, and they carry many things that you can otherwise only get on mail order.
I recently hit up the year end inventory sale with a list two miles long. Fabulous. Be adventurous and try some of the imported incense.

If you hear the slapping sound of Birkenstocks and catch a wiff of Nag Champa you must be (1) having a flash back or (2) approaching Phoenix Herb Company in the heart of midtown. For me it was the second option.
Phoenix has incense, tea’s, herbs, tinctures, lotions, potions etc…
I needed to stop by and pick up some Bach Flower «rescue remedy» for my dog *and maybe me*, he hates thunderstorms and this helps tremendously and also needed some aloe vera juice, so where else would I run other than Phoenix Herb. Co.
They are very helpful, very friendly, very knowledgeable and very enthusiastic about their job. The place kind of soothes the soul a little bit and you feel as if you are getting a big ol hug from Mother Nature. Even if not all things in the store works for everyone, having a Mother Nature hug will sometimes do just as much as any supplement out there.
If you live in KC, it’s a much quicker trip to Phoenix Herb Co. to get your hippy fix than driving all the way to Lawrence! Go check them out and have a wonderful day.

I love to go and buy herbs from them. I have been going there for many years. They are a great staff. The prices for bulk herbs are very cheap. As far as I know they are the lowest prices in town and always great quality.

Mmmm… love the Phoenix Herb Company. I was first introduced to their tea in a little coffee shop across from KUMed called Drink-​a-​Latte. I drank the White Peach tea and I fell in love. Ever since I’ve been going to Phoenix to by ounces and ounces of the White Peach tea. They have practically any tea and herb you can dream of… and if you have a health concern they can mix you a specialty tea. I, myself, have migraines and they offered to mix me a tea, but at the time, I didn’t oblige. Anyway, the staff is very helpful, the store has wonderful glassware for purchase and funky little items such as incense, sweetgrass, sage, and the like, and the entire store smells herby and heavenly. Ya’ll should check it out.

SUPER friendly and helpful staff. Autumn will help you find exactly what you’re looking for and Jimmy, well, Jimmy… he’ll find something for you even if you don’t know what you’re looking for! And he’ll give you lots of free tea samples. My coffee addiction forbids me from loving tea in the same way, but I’ve started brewing my own tea since I found this gem of a place in my neighborhood.
There is a tea for your every mood, your every stress. There best seller is the «de-​tox» tea. I bought some of that and «cheerful» which Autumn swears will make you feel that much more cheerful. She says it’s the anti-​depressant of the tea world. Haha. Lots of vitamins, herbs and other holistic health things.
I just like to roam around this tiny store and breathe in all the smells. I always walk away having bought just a little something.

I have always been wary of over the counter medications for aches and pains. Sure they may work quickly, but what are the long term effects? What exactly is in Sudafed? Aleve? Excedrin? How are taking these now going to make me feel when I’m older? Hmm… I’d rather not find out.
So when my throat started to tighten up, the weather has changed into cold wind, and my co-​workers are all coming in sniffling, I knew I had to pick up something to ward off the impending cold. At Phoenix Herb, I was quickly helped and was in the hands of my knowledgeable sales person. He made sure I didn’t have any other conditions, picking out an appropriate remedy that’s filled with good olé herbs grown from the ground. He was also honest, saying the tea I make from it might not taste the greatest (I appreciate honesty).
