Today’s paper announced that this location has closed without notice. Company blamed a number of «external circumstances» for the decision. Too bad for the Northland. We don’t have all that many choices up here, unless you count the dozens of fast food outlets.

Dining companion and I split a Quiche Lorraine and a Spinach & Artichoke appetizer. The server greeted us with a «bon jour» and continued to drop little«bon appetits» throughout her service. Hmmm… This is NOT a french restaurant, and we aren’t in Paris. On to the food — the appetizer arrived with chips that were so tough we couldn’t chew them. They had been left out and absorbed moisture from the air, rendering them inedible. By the time we spotted our server again, the dip was lukewarm. She returned 5 minutes later with fresh and VERY hot chips. The quiche was delicious, much to our surprise. The green salad was limp and the dressing was drizzled over it instead of being served on the side. The blueberry muffin was enormous and like lump of dough. I nibbled on the top but left the rest on the plate. Folks seated two tables down were getting an apology for something from their server. Our server was hard to track, even though the place was mostly empty on a Saturday night. Mimi’s used to be our #1 choice for breakfast and dinner on the weekend, but it’s fallen off our regular list. The quiche was good, though.

Food is AMAZING! Went for the 1st time today and was absolutely FLOORED by the quality of food and customer service provided by our waitress and the manager! They even give 1st time guests free muffins! They were amazing as well! I WILL be back soon!

The food here was good. And though our server was a bit sassy every thing came out at the right temp. It took a bit for the entre but we had a late joiner and it took awhile for the dessert to get out but we they had a rush right before the dessert course should have come. The place is cute thought a little complicated. It has a lot of different rooms/sections and bathrooms were not the easiest to find. Also they say they have breakfast all day but we did not see anything for breakfast on the menu but Quiche. You may need to ask for the breakfast menu if that is what you are looking for later in the day.

No way. We ate brunch here after staying the the President. Waited forever. We put our names on the list, then they had us sit at the bar. Apparently they forgot about us because after waiting for about 30 minutes I asked how much longer it would be and she said, «Oh, you still wanted a seat?» Yes, that’s why we said we would wait at the bar until a seat was available. Once we sat down, our waiter was nice and the service was fine but our food(there were 4 of us) ranged from meh to yuck. We will not be returning.

Arriving from Kansas City from Omaha riding the spectacular high of finishing the Omaha Marathon on 09/23/2012, landed me here @ Mimi’s Café. After checking into my hotel @ the Econolodge, I met up with another 50 State Marathoner, who happens to live in Kansas City(Northland), whom has inspired me to take on this amazing and epic quest to run a marathon in all 50 States. We settled on Mimi’s Café, since she told me she was a regular here and had a coupon for $ 10 off. I didn’t care where we went, as long as we did and I needed some food in my stomach after driving a few hours. Located within the Zona Rosa shopping complex, Mimi’s Café is one of those places, that seem to be upscale, but it kind of wasn’t. Just feels that way with the mood and ambiance. We arrived here at about 6:30pm and the restaurant was not full at all. The ambiance was nice and quiet and we liked that. Just a quiet evening before I had to fly to Houston in the morning, so it was nice to have that downtime in between the craziness of travel. The service was good. The server was great and he pointed out all the specials and the wine specials they had going at the time. I just wanted a strawberry margaurita frozen and he responded with a enthusiasm that could not be beat. It was just that kind of nice that can brighten up the most blah of moods. My friend ultimately ordered the salmon entrée, which she enjoyed well. Whereas I, on the other hand, managed to snag a prime rib, cooked medium with vegetables and a potato. The steak was pretty good, just not really what I wanted, but still good and tasty. Wish I had gone to a real steakhouse, but whatever, this one was good enough. The liquor was a good combination to the dinner and everything just melted into some cusp of perfection that only a marathon that morning could even be remotely considered a perfect weekend. Indeed, this was a good choice for a Sunday evening meal to cap off an epic experience. Support local! B+

Ok, so I was looking for Waffle House and ended up here instead. If anything, I know I can always count on Mimi’s corn chowder. It is consistent. The service here was ok, nothing spectacular, but sufficient. I ordered the veggie burger, which was surprisingly tasty.. .or perhaps I was rather hungry. Whatever the case, I enjoyed the meal.

This is my go-to place for dining-out with grandma. The menu is basic and easy to read. The dining room is bright and cheerful. The service is friendly, I don’t think I’ve ever had bad service here, but the food is just meh. It’s ok, but frankly there are so many places in KC that are just stellar, I’d rather spend my cash and calories on something fantastic. What can I say, grandma likes it!

Well I have to admit. Mimi’s has won us back. Had the fish and Chips, and the quiche. It was … Outstanding, food hit and fresh bread of course delicious. Service… several trips to see if we needed anything besides never having a dry glass of tea. they did forget the wife’s muffin and when we asked for it to go they brought it with seven other siblings with apologies. Wasn’t overpriced at all unless you are comparing it to Wendy’s. We will make it a regular stop again. It had gone down and we avoided it for a while, but the last two trips… Great.

The server got the job done but that was it. Food came out 5 min apart. I love the concept but the servers need to be more professional not like Flow at a truck stop diner.

While everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, I found this first time visit to be excellent. Natalie my server was very helpful and courteous. I was asked by the manager and another server on how I was doing. Attention was incredible. I really enjoyed the chicken marsala with a side of corn chowder. The raspberry iced tea was great. Key lime fingers for dessert topped it all off. Was pleased that I was given some extra muffins for home, including a drink for the ride. Portions were huge – more than I expected for the price!

Went to Brunch with my BFF for my birthday and had the carrot raisin nut muffin. It was served warm with butter and it was really good but very filling. Surprisingly filling. I also had the eggs benedict on crab cakes and it was just okay. I loved the poached eggs and spinach aspect but the hollandaise and crab cakes were just flat. Coffee was decent but nothing to write home about(or much of a Unilocal review for that matter). I should have ordered the quiche. It’s reliably good. The best part was the conversation and company. When that is great it makes the food taste better. LOL

Mimi’s café, who is currently owned by Bob Evans, is the Olive Garden of «french,»(I’m using this term very loosely) food. The service is mediocre, at best, the food is over priced and generally ill prepared and the ambiance is confusing. The only redeeming feature of this restaurant is that if you mention it’s your first time then you receive a free four pack of their fresh muffins. The buttermilk spice is my favorite!

Went for lunch and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Had the BBQ Bacon Burger and this rare occasion, the burger and fries filled me up without having to order an appetizer. One of our group had a birthday and the slice of chocolate cream cake we got was amazing. Definitely good for the laid back lunch and first time visitors get free muffins!

Mimi’s is a nationwide chain restaurant. I’ve been to a few in my home state of Cali and found it mediocre. I usually get their salads because honestly, who F-ups salad? And it usually comes with a muffin, which are delicious. I asked my boyfriend if we could go to this Mimi’s and he always refused, citing bad service. But then one day, I found out that his bad service experience was years old, MULTIPLE years, so I convinced him to go with me. We arrived one rainy evening, and were seated immediately. Food: BAD. Worse than I remembered. My fault I suppose for venturing outside the salad realm. I ordered salmon and vegetables and they were disgusting, not even edible. SERVICE: I sat there playing with my food when the server(young girl, piercings, dark semi curly hair) came over and I kid you not, started making jokes about LUBRICATEDCONDOMSANDKYJELLY. Seriously, who does that? I dont mention her piercings to judge, trust me I have a ton of piercings and tattoos. It’s more so you can avoid her. She was terrible. Who talks to customers that way? It was pretty offensive. I had just gotton off of a 5 hour flight and was just tired and hungry. i wanted good food and nothing loud or ridiculous. This girl sucked and ruined my night. We will NEVEREVEREVER return.

Pancakes, bacon and eggs, –what could go wrong? The coffee was swill. Bacon was underdone, –I don’t like chewing fat. Pancakes not too bad, but way too little syrup in a tiny receptacle, pancakes, orange juice had gone off, –probably kept in the fridge for two weeks. And those redskin fried potatoes, intended to be a healthier choice than hash browns? Frozen out of a bag obviously. Speaking of frozen, why do chains keep the air conditioning down so low a person has to wear a sweater? Our service was good and the place is vast. You need a map to find the restrooms but I don’t mind a challenge.

I’ll keep this short. I’ve been to this Mimi’s before and had a decent experience. This past time was less than stellar. In fact, service was crap. Out waitress constantly forgot about us, she brought out the wrong appetizer WITH our dinner and blamed it on the kitchen staff. It took us forever to get our drinks… both times. The food we received, however, was quite good. Our experience was somewhat rectified by the manager who removed a few things from our ticket and gave us 24-packs of delicious muffins. I noticed ours wasn’t the only table having issues with their service, as she was bringing out free muffins to other tables. I did also notice that the kitchen ran short of pot pies, which I hear are delicious… if you can manage to get one! It’s not likely we’ll go back anytime soon. We may wait a year and test the water, but for now we’ll stay away.
