Okay chicken, excellent rolls, outstanding MILFS. Friendly staff even if they are democrats.

How could you not love GCG? Lol! Great chicken right by UMKC. I can’t really say I’ve had a bad experience here other than certain cashiers. Otherwise, the chicken, livers, gizzards, buttery rolls, mash potatoes etc are all worthy choices! Can’t express enough to anyone that’s from out of town to please go check out GCG on Troost!

Small wings with OK flavor, had to pay for hot sauce. If I had of ordered gizzards I would have gotten it free huh??? Older lady at register was nice and helpful however, the lady at the pick up window had an nasty attitude.

This place was not good. The chicken was tiny, dry, and bland. Any fast food chicken is better than this place. And that’s saying a lot when I would never go near any of them. I guess this is the last time I take a recommendation from the person that sent me there. Looks like KC needs to try good chicken to know that this is a catastrophe.

why do I keep coming back here? why? I was in the drive thru for 45 minutes. 45. when we finally got up to the window they said we were waiting on the Mac n cheese. I don’t see how because its just noodles with bland cheese sauce. not even close to homemade. if I had known this, I would NOT have ordered it. boyfriend got pecan pie and once again, it was pre-packaged Sara Lee. I could have bought that myself. and the rolls were cold. im making a vow that I will NEVER go back.

Who doesn’t love Go-Chicken-Go?! The chicken is perfectly seasoned, hot, and crispy! The wing dinner is my favorite! You get what, like 5 wings, 2 buttered to death freaking delicious rolls, a tiny cup of mashed potatoes(I usually dip my rolls in it… try it), and I THINK cole slaw. Lots of people like their gizzard and livers but I just can’t jiggy with the weird innards, I trust that they’re tasty though. Man this stuff hits the spot. And don’t forget the G-Sauce!!! It’s like hot sauce/salsa awesomeness. The drive thru here sucks, so just go inside. And inside is where you get the real show! They even have a security guard so you don’t feel threatened lol. GCG brings out Kansas City’s most interesting bunch, I don’t blame ‘em, the chicken is amazeballs!

This is not a place for those fancy, forks and knives people. This is just straight up good greasy eating. Every time I go, I get the large livers and gizzards mix. SOOOOOOGOOOOD! ANDTHE G SAUCEISBOMB!!! I’ve had their chicken as well and it is some of the best fried chicken in KC! So go and order yourself a meal pack(which is the fried chicken with rolls, which by the way are heavenly… And a side choice of coleslaw or mashed potatoes and gravy, yum) or if you can handle it… Get yourself a box of livers, gizzards or both. Either way, you will not be disappointed. Oh yeah, and don’t forget to ask for extra sauce, you’ll want it… believe me.

So glad I stopped and grabbed some chicken livers to make the wife jealous! Drive thru line was long, but they were fast getting us all through. Very polite staff working and livers were awesome! I will for sure be stopping by here again soon!

Kansas City’s best kept secret, also the best fried chicken anywhere. The gizzards and livers are phenomenal

I kept hearing about this place, and pass it very often. I finally got the chance to try it! I was very excited because I never had fried gizzards before, and really enjoyed them! This is a pretty small fast food joint near UMKC. Every time I pass, there are people inside and/or several cars parked in the lot. I visited on a Thursday evening around 7:30pm. I parked in the(small) lot and ordered inside. The man in front of me ordered a half order of gizzards, so I thought, «If the half order is big enough for him, it will surely be enough for me.» I ordered, paid around $ 5, and waited in the next window beside the order window. My food was ready in a few minutes and I was on my way. I brought my box o’ gizzards home and ate when I arrived inside. The portion was very good for $ 5 and came with a biscuit and hot sauce. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was satisfied with the product. The gizzards were small pieces of chewy meat inside a thick batter. The flavor wasn’t anything astounding, but the texture was pleasing. The hot sauce really complimented the fried meats. If it didn’t come with sauce, I probably would have to dip it in something. I feel like this is going to be one of those things I occassionally crave, and have no idea why.

Five stars you ask? Yes. Five stars! If I could give the livers and gizzards(I always want to order lizzards) six stars I would! I grew up repulsed with the idea of my mom cooking livers and gizzards and her and my dad enjoying them. As an adult, I am finding I have the taste buds to repulse youngsters. It is hard to name a fav. The flavor of the gizzards, the tenderness of the livers. Pack them between the rolls with some gsauce and that is a lip smacking good sammich! I have tried many other options here the chicken strips are delicious white meat and juicy. The same meat is used in the sandwiches. The chicken breast are also juicy and tender, but not the size you might get at the competition. Mashed potatoes seem to be instant and you won’t go wrong skipping them. Rolls are the perfect accompaniment. Both the pecan pie and sweet potato pie are spot on. For fast food chicken, Go Chicken Go rates above them all. But, the true winner is the gizzards and livers. Service is good. Friendly and quick considering the poor D/T set up. I am both happy and sad that Go Chicken Go is on my driving path and an almost daily temptation for me. The waistline may suffer, but the taste buds are joyful!

I’d heard the legends of Go-Chicken-Go throughout the years, and one night, the oddest craving for fried chicken kicked in. Unilocal had our back and helped us to try this out, and I’ve gotta say… this was really good! The friendly folks tossed in an extra thigh piece for us, and we each got a breast, biscuit and side of mashed potatoes. The flavor of the chicken really comes through and the seasoning/batter are complementary to it and not overwhelming. The price is right, too. I think both meals totaled $ 11 bucks or so. I’m not big on fast food, nor would I plan on going here a ton, but I have to say they do it up right and if it wasn’t for the giant drive-thru snaking around the building, you’d almost have a tough time knowing that it’s fast-food.

Real chicken. Great flavors. Friendly peeps. True blue the chicken isnt seasoned the best. Additional sauces are more. But when youre buying the value meal its a deal. I got my own special sauce at home anyways. Also… Liver Gizzards. Nuff sed.

When the cravings hit, there is only one place to go. My favorite is the livers and gizzards, with a side of mashed potatos. Their chicken gravy is liquid gold!

They serve wings, breast, legs, and thighs??? IDK I only want one thing when I pull in the parking lot, and I am never disappointed with the GIZZARDS. This trip was no different. They were tender, tender, tender and DE-licious. So good. The roll was just this side of done, but who cares. The G-sauce was dabomb as well.

Who doesn’t love some meaty, greasy fried chicken with a side of creamy mashed potatoes? I was licking my fingers for hours afterwards. The chicken strip snack came with a couple of delicious chicken strips, a soft roll, mashed potatoes, and some sauce. Don’t expect good customer service. At the risk of sounding racist, I couldn’t understand what they were saying and they couldn’t understand what I was saying. I never did get my cup of water on this 100 degree day. Still. The chicken is SO tasty and is worth every penny.

I did not grow up in an area where there were multiple fried chicken chains from which to choose. If you wanted golden, crispy, on-the-bone goodness, and were not fortunate enough to hit up the local mom n’ pop diner in a timely manner, KFC was your only choice. Not so, in KC. To paraphrase the Dos Equis guy, I don’t always eat fried chicken, but when I do, I prefer Go Chicken Go. The sides aren’t gonna blow you away(Church’s okra is where it’s at, as are their honey biscuits), but no pasty mashed potatoes or store-bought doughy roll can tarnish the crispy, lightly battered glory of the chicken, here. I don’t even EAT liver, ordinarily, but their chicken livers and hot sauce make me feel like I need to take a stand against iron deficiency anemia, and chow down for my own health(I’m sure my health is grateful for the peppery batter, hah). The«snack pack» is more food than most people would ever need in one setting, and the little boxes keep the chow warm all the way home. I have to chuckle at the«OMG, it’s a ghetto chicken hut, but it’s soooo good» assessments, given that it’s located single digit minutes from many a posh Plaza address, and sandwiched in between-ish UMKC and Rockhurst University. No, I don’t loiter in their lobby at 2 a.m. I also don’t loiter in squeaky clean suburban QuikTrips at 2 a.m., though. It’s a scrubby little fast food place where people don’t really stick around for the atmosphere, they’re just in and out to get seriously delicious chicken, but it’s not a place I’ve felt frightened to be, by any means.
