The people on here that complain about service are pansies. They’re not gonna treat you like a queen here. If you’re in a hurry, call in or if its busy and you know what you want, order at the bar when you come in. Most of the time the wings are HUGE and juicy, but they do vary in size. But very occasionally they will be on the smaller side, give them a couple more chances. Best dive bar in the city.

The ambience is cool if you like dives. Not being sarcastic… place was packed on a typical Saturday afternoon… The wings were good. Thye serve them in a unique way, leaving the leg and wing connected, so ordering 3 wings is like getting 6… The problem I had was with the service. Bartender was an arrogant ass who was not on top of things. Sat and waited about five minutes at the bar waiting for the bartender to take my drink order. Finally someone who looked like the cook took my drink order(water, not hard to do). During this time the bartender slowly paced back and forth, nonchalantly made change and chatted things up with a female patron. I waited about another 10 minutes until the bartender(who I was told is named Tony) finally took my order only because the guy sitting next to me at the bar called him out. Once good ol’ Tony took my order, he was very rude and unapologetic… The man sitting next to me said that Tony has a reputation for being a jerk, but everyone else at the place is great and the food has been famous for decades… Improve the service, or simply Tony’s attitude, and I can see how this place could be a local staple. I won’t be going back.

This place is a true hole in the wall but they have the best wings in the world! A must try for wing lovers! The Egg BLT and pork tenderloin sandwich are also good options for non-wing eaters.

These buffalo wings are legit. Meaty whole wings, just enough crispy, and the sauce is delicious. Just enough fire. I asked some coworkers where to find the best wings in KC and they all said The Peanut. They were definitely pretty darn good.

This is a fantastic place to eat! The wings are great! Service was a little lacking only because they were short handed though.

This is a different type of place. I read about the blt, so I hit it up during my stay. It was good, but nothing to write home about. I did see the wings they offer, holy smokes batman, they do real wings. Why the low rating? Let’s paint a picture: family with kids sitting down eating, and then a fight breaks out. One assailant left and another stayed. The one who stayed should have left or been told to leave as he was drunk, loud, and abnotious. He keeps complaint and with his loud complaints were insert curse words every 2 to 3 words, for half an hour. Atmosphere was not comfortable, the family left, and the other 3 people left in there to escape the long day just had to sit and deal with it.

Ok so I’m going to go ahead and throw this out there first. The place is a hole in the wall literally. My first visit had my face torn up and stomach uneasy but I was repeatedly told that the food here was great. If you wouldn’t be seen at a dark tiny bar with many regulars this place isn’t for you but please order it for take out! its a must. I initially came here for with famous BLT. A BLT righ? I was confused as well and would never order this anywhere but many people speak highly of it. Once here with a friend I ordered the double blt(yea two sandwiches in one). Think is comes with chips and a few pickles. They cut it in half for you and I must say once I took that first bit I was in love. LOVE I tell you. I couldn’t stop thinking about the extra bacon I ordered on it and the sauce whatever they spread on it and red onions. It was magic. I actually want one now just writing this review. Moving forward I then went to the other Peanut that’s near Power and Light and its almost the same but that location puts a lot of cheese on theirs. Coming back to this location, YESAGAIN, I decided to try the wings and babyyyy… I’m sold I don’t want wings from anywhere else. First let me say about the wings the size. They give you the FULL wing not the party wing style but the full bird wing. It is ordered so much a long wait can be expected at all time of the day for this, but this means its always fresh out the grease. The hot sauce that coats them are the perfect hot. Bearable to get through but still may make your nose run. Staff are super sweet. Tons of tvs for the guys or course. Seating is horrible but it makes it feel like more of a family place which is cool when your a happy drunk. So one star down for the seating. The kitchen looks a mess so I would just look past this and order up!

Comfort food. That’s how I describe the classic BLT. Well this place kicked it up 2 notches. I recommend the extra bacon. Nice little dive bar with great kansas city food. Good value. I will be back.

Very well cooked burger, crispy amazing fries, and delicious chili. Taco salad was too small, mostly lettuce, left a lot to be desired. Tacos are simple, inexpensive, but good. Very small dining area, and very crowded at lunch. Calling ahead and ordering to go was the best idea.

Best local bar in Kansas City Tony has to be the best bar keep in the World. BLTis great and the wings are famous but the tacos are my favorite. Any time is a great time at the Nut

Honestly, disappointed with their famous wings. I’m not sure if it’s just because I’m just unfamiliar with their style. But I found the wings to have a very dried, chewy deep-fried skin/crust. It wasn’t something that was crisp and crunchy, but thick and hard to chew. Solid buffalo sauce on top, nothing mind blowing. But really just disappointed with texture and quality of chicken. Chicken was also not very juicy inside, could have been overcooked or something. Other sides and apps seem to be generic. Fries are wavy, frozen ones, nothing special. Service was additionally slow. I believe they function more as bar and food comes second. Would perhaps return to watch sporting event and grab a drink with group of people. But would not make a special trip just for their food.

So, my second visit to a Peanut location was much better than my first, the food was edible, but I still don’t get the hype. The wings are big, well, actually just not broke up like most places. So instead of six wings you get three. They are not very meaty. The hot sauce is good, although not hot. Probably one of the best blue cheese sides around. The fries are ok, cheese fries are a good side. But nothing is mind blowing. Meatier wings and a sauce that is hot would definitely bump them up. Maybe some options for flavors. Service was ok. The guy seemed to be from the east coast. He wasn’t friendly, he wasn’t rude, a bit quick and abrupt. He kept switching up our orders for drinks and food. We had to request our check. It did appear that he was the only one working upfront and it was almost full. I wouldn’t decline if someone wanted to go, but I probably won’t add it to my regular rotation. Especially with Wings Café coming to Westport.

Hands down the best wings I have ever had. Massive whole wings, that are fall off the bone tender. The wing sauce has just enough heat to it. Amazing bleu cheese or ranch which are house made. Football season is coming up, extremely happy I found this smaller bar.

A little dive bar with arguably the best, certainly the largest, wings in the area. And the sandwiches aren’t bad either. The place is small, and as with any dive bar, the place is a little crowded, and a little loud(due to the lively conversations, music is kept audible but low), also, a little rundown and dirty-looking. They have plenty of tv’s, so it’s a nice place to watch a game. We went in, grabbed a table, and in a matter of seconds a guy was there with two waters, and ready two take our drink order. Having heard about the wings we ordered a half dozen and a couple of beers. Keep in mind that these are whole wings, and look more like Turkey wings, so each wing is the equivalent of at least three wings anywhere else. Undeterred by the mountain of wings before me I also ordered the single BLT with an egg. And it was delicious! Just what I expected from a dive. It was large and a little greasy; stacked with bacon and cheese and seasoned tomatoes. We ordered the wings dry, with buffalo and blue cheese on the side. The wings in and of themselves are bland, but dip them in their rich home made blue cheese dip, or in good old buffalo sauce and it won’t make a difference.(which I suppose is why they’re not seasoned).

I enjoyed the atmosphere at The Peanut… a friend had been raving about the wings so I had to check them out. I had the triple BLT with egg… the BLT was the BOMB! very delicious! Next time I will try the pepper jack vs. shredded cheese. The wings… the world famous wings were extremely flavorful! crispy and the perfect heat! The size of the wings weren’t too intimidating… lots of flavor… definitely in the top 3 best wings in KCMO!

I did not like wings until I met Peanuts. Man those wings are just fantastic. There is nothing like showing up to this little bar slightly hungry and sharing wings with friends. They have tons of TVs and always have a good game on. The bar is a bit old. But it’s totally worth going to if you’re in the area. Fun fact: apparently it’s the oldest bar in KC. And has been open since prohibition! I know I’ll be here most game days watching the Chiefs, Packers, and Royals play. You can’t beat their prices and quality on the wings.

Best wings ever! I don’t usually go to dive bars because they’re loud and crowded and somewhat dirty but my husband insisted that the wings were to die for and I have to say it was so worth it! The sauce they use is sheer perfection– it has that spicy flavor that makes your nose run just a little bit but isn’t going to kill you and makes you keep coming back. The blue cheese sauce that came with(you get two options– I can’t remember the other one at the moment) went so well with the chicken wings. We had a half dozen wings between the two of us and it was honestly too much! Granted we had already eaten dinner and were just going for a midnight snack, but if we were to come here for dinner we would probably not be able to finish a full dozen wings! They are huge and they are so tasty!

Forget those other vendors of wings. One trip to The Peanut and one taste of their wings will make you a convert. The Peanut is an amazingly awesome dive bar in the South Plaza neighborhood around a lot of other food places, but it is truly one of a kind! There are many tables for you to sit at, or you can sit at the bar. Additionally, the staff is great and service is good. I’ve seen all sorts of people here! I’ve been here for happy hour with my friend, dinner with my brother(on Valentine’s Day, woops! We didn’t put that together, got mistaken for a couple), a drink with my brother while we waited for our take out, and once for lunch. Consistently, the food is on point. If you want wings(and you definitely do… why else did you come here???) then you’ll want to order them right away, like when the server takes your drink orders. The wings take a while, but they are soooo worth it. Also great is the BLT! They add shredded cheddar, which my mom never did, but which is delicious. The BLTs can also be double or triple stacked. They’re simple, but the fries and tots are great every time. The last time I went, I ordered a BLT and my dad got the three wing appetizer, and I gave him half my BLT and took a wing. Perfect! I’m fairly certain Happy Hour is domestic bottles, which works for me. If you’ve never tried The Peanut but you’ve lived in Kansas City for any amount of time(or if you’re visiting KC), I HIGHLY suggest you try this place out; you will not be disappointed!

First time to Kansas City and my first stop? The Peanut. I rolled up decked out in Detroit Tigers gear and the bartender was STILL willing to serve me. This was my first stop on my KC Dive Bar Bar Crawl before the baseball game and it ended up being my only stop. Read the other reviews on here and went with the BLT& fries. Great decision. On my third beer and after a shot of fireball purchased by some Kansas City stud muffin, they weren’t going to let me leave without trying the wings. Phenomenal. Ask the bartender just for a sample of one if not too hungry. The bartender Tony was about as legit as they come. The bar was filled with a wide variety of people, and fortunately for the eyes, the men of Kansas City do not disappoint. Then again, it might have been the beer, food-coma, and the lighting… But seriously, any bar that has an action figure of Moses is a bar I can throw a few back at while enjoying every second there.
