I went to Gators for the first time today. I had the taco special what a deal. Hard taco .95 and soft taco 1 $ 1.50. They are really good the service was great. They serve Pepsi products a big plus in my book. Only drawback is you can smoke in the bar but after a while I did not mind. I will be back to try other totems on the menu. I did notice a very goo looking philly steak sandwich walk by while I was eating. Put this place on your radar for Lunch or dinner.

We come here often, probably once a week. We love this place. Cheap drinks, good food, fast service.

Definitely my favorite dive in the Northland! Be forewarned though it’s technically in Platte Woods so smoking is allowed inside. Sure, service can be a bit painstakingly slow but you can always shoot pool to kill time or partake in karaōke bingo. Since frequenting, I’ve also found my new favorite beverage by recommendation from our server. She referred to it as «tasting like applesauce» and even wrote«applesauce beer» on our ticket. Alas it’s called Ciderboys Mad Bark Apple Cinnamon Cider. Girly maybe, but by far beats out other ciders like Angry Orchard or Woodchuck. They also serve your pretty standard bar food. The tenderloin sandwiches take up your entire plate and come with all the fixings. They also have hugely popular taco Tuesdays!

Went to KC for a sporting event. We were looking for somewhere close to our hotel(Chase Suites) where we could have something to eat(nothing fancy), a few drinks and maybe some music if we were lucky. Gator’s showed up on an internet search. We read the reviews and although they were old, figured we’d still give it a try. Glad we did. The food was simple but good — sandwiches, burgers, some chicken options. We had the cheese and spinach dip — pretty awesome but spicy, so beware. The waitress was very friendly, the beer was cold, the bar was clean and roomy. My drink could have used more tequila but I’ll forgive them. There was a really good band playing and everyone was having just a fine time. Best of all they had Buzztime trivia! So we could eat, drink, listen to music and play trivia… does it get any better than that? Also, the crowd was sort of older — I’d say most folks were between 35 – 50 — so we fit right in. Not a meat-market atmosphere. Next time we stay in the area we will be sure to go back. Would like to see what a karaōke night is like.

My internal Bar Radar(or BARDAR) sounded for years while driving near this location. I KNEW there had to be a bar here, but I could never see one. Finally, one Saturday evening, I left the road and drove around through the parking lot. Sure enough! You can’t really see it from the road, but it’s in there! Being invisible doesn’t seem to hurt business, this place was jam-packed! My friend and I were wedged up against a Silver Strike machine for the majority of our visit. Gator VIII is an average-to-good suburban-style strip mall sports bar. It has the expected menu, the big screen TVs, and the food you’d expect. So why is it so popular? I suspect the answer lies in its location. It’s technically not in Kansas City, but in the tiny, completely-surrounded suburb of Platte Woods. As a result, it is not subject to KCMO’s smoking ban. Therefore this is the only sports bar for miles where smoking is allowed.

Gator’s Eight in northern Kansas City has become my regular Friday night hangout. Nestled snugly out of the way in a little strip mall just off I-29, this bar serves up suds, spuds, n’ songs with some awesome regulars and their sport of choice… Karaōke, dished out hot three nights a week(Wednesday, Friday, and most Saturdays). Decent drink prices mixed with a helpful and attentive wait staff means never having to say«I’m thirsty.» If you’re in the mood for num nums, try their nachos. Just be sure you’re ready to go when your name is called for your performance — you don’t wanna be late(or off key), or you might get shown up when the bar’s favorite crooner known affectionately as Blue takes the stage. Alright, that’s gonna happen anyway. He’s a dynamo. If you’re a little trigger shy, try the bar on a Wednesday night. They call that«practice night,» and the atmosphere is a little more friendly to newbies or folks trying their favorite Prince tune out for the first time.
