SELFCHECKOUTEXPERIENCEWASAWFUL! I decided to use the self checkout due to the fact that I had four small items. I thought the self checkout would be easier, boy was I wrong! Long story short, the scanner would not scan some small angle brackets I had selected. The store associates were no where to be found. The female associate who was just at the checkout to assist the girl in front of me, had walked to the registers to the right of the self checkouts. The self checkout requested an associate, as did I but no one came to help. I waited for nearly 10 minutes for someone to help, and this was after other customers noticed me becoming upset at the lack of customer service… Finally an associate named Stacy, who was previously avoiding eye contact, asked if I «needed something?» I advised her the self checkout had been requesting assistance for some time now. She asked what«the problem was?» and I told her the angle brackets«wouldn’t scan.» She repeated, «They WON’T scan??» and I said yes. She carried them over to the employee terminal and entered the barcode manually. There was no option for me to enter the codes manually on the customer terminal, or I would have. Why have a system which requires an associate if that associate is going to walk away while customers are checking out. There were four other associates to my right, but none noticed the red light flashing at the top of the self checkout lane. It seemed no one knew what a flashing red light meant. I was very unhappy with the excessive amount of time it took to checkout, due to being ignored by other associates. I was more unhappy with the bothered attitude of the female associate, who appeared to «see me» before she assisted me… After I started to enter my payment the associate lifted up the glass and manipulated something near the laser scanner, and she said, «this thing won’t quit scanning.» I suppose that meant there was something wrong with the self checkout station, but it was not taken off line. There appears to be several training and customer service issues at this store. I will never use the self checkout here again, if I even decide to return to this store. There are other hardware stores in the Kannapolis area.

Same service here as at other Home Depots… sub-par. Takes 30 minutes to locate something and other 10 waiting for someone to locate something for you when you can’t find something.
