History
Established in 2011.
He’eia Kea Pier General Store & Deli has always been a family owned and operated business. Previously ran by the Choy family for 30 years. «The Deli» was a popular eatery for Windward, Oahu residents. Russ Inouye, todays owner of the business was a regular customer to the restaurant. Inouye knew the owners like family and addressed them respectfully as «Uncle Ernie», «Aunty Mimi», and «Aunty Sharon».
When word got out that the Choy’s wanted to retire, Inouye inquired on how he could take over the business. Soon after a public notice was issued by the State of Hawaii for the He’eia Kea Pier lease. Inouye went through the process and submitted a bid in early 2011.
Inouye was awarded the lease, and started renovating the old «Deli» building. A total kitchen renovation, re-roofing, and some cosmetic changes took place to get the business up and running once again.
Today, you still feel the old harbor atmosphere accompanied with great local dishes to enjoy at the pier.
