Reruns(are there ever new episodes?) of The Food Network’s DDD with Guy Fieri have really inspired in me an appreciation of the type of «Low Cuisine» that would have Antonin Careme turning rotissirie style in his grave. This culinary«slumming it» has actually been working out fairly well for me, and where some see a roach coach, I now see a potentially delicious, and hopefully not disease ridden, meal. So, when it comes to food, I’m an easy upsell. The uncle manning the mobile steam table must have recognized this, because when I ordered the Pastele Plate, he bequethed upon me the knowledge of the Pastele Royale Plate. Now bearing the wisdom that a pastele plate smothered in even more matura(the filling — a.k.a pastele stew) actually existed, I could have ordered nothing else. Well, it’s been about eight hours, and no, ahem, «issues» have arisen. And thankfully, too, because it was good!
