Almeida & Sons Auto & Towing

I fortunately have not had to use the services of this company. My gripe is not with the quality of service but the professionalism of the company’s owner for which the company is named after. I was stopped at a red light in a busy intersection. I was blocked from moving when my light turned green because he (in the tow truck bearing his name) decided he couldn’t wait behind his red light. He was sitting in the middle of the intersection blocking traffic because he was in a rush of some sort. I honked my horn at him and he got out and wanted to fight me. Yes, he got out of his truck and wanted to fight with me, a female. I probably should have got the authorities involved but I was in such shock! And not to mention scared! Anyway, long story short, avoid these people at all costs!

Went to pick my kids up from school got back in the jeep and it wouldn’t turn over… roadside assistance calls this piece of shit company. One hour wait, I have 3 kids who are hungry and pissed. Driver calls I didn’t hear it ring. Called the driver back 2’minutes later. He tells me he cancelled the call… he had the address but never even drove by. Lazy asshole tells me I have to call back and wait another hour… typical hawaii «brah» BS…

I give zero stars (wouldn’t let me continue without giving 1 star) to this company. The person on the other end of the phone is a liar and I have spoken to Avid about the lack of professionalism. As with other Unilocalers who were left without getting service, I started my cal at 7:10 am and as of 8:44, this company said they were stuck in traffic and still not able to get to me. got mad at me when I asked is it to hard to let me know how far out you are… stated I can call another company. who does that… said it would take another 90 minutes to get to me because of non existent traffic on the island at the time. I stand by my review and give many reviews on Unilocal… If they never get another phone call from insurance companies to help people, I would not feel sorry. you’ve earned your zero stars.

Almeida and Sons rescued me in Windward City Shopping Center and I am super grateful! Instead of just towing the car to the repair shop, the driver went to the parts store and fixed the problem right in the parking lot — in the dark using cell phone lighting! Instead of having the car in the shop for 2 – 3 days, we’re right back on the road! After all that, the driver was very fair with his price and wouldn’t accept a tip! Love Almeida and Sons! Put their number in your cell phone for roadside assistance!

Driving in Pearl City this truck from Almeida and sons cut me off and forced me on to the sidewalk. I was coming out of Zippys Waiau and he was headed westbound. I had alreadly pulled out onto the road and the driver turned his truck into my car. I guess this company thinks its cute or good business practice to hire people that play chicken with others lives. Truck had the license plate 847 TTG BEWARE OF THIS DRIVER!!!

I was told that tow truck would get to me in 2.5 hours. I waited 3 hours and when called to find out where they were, I was told that they are not coming to get me at all. In addition to that, guy that spoke to me was extremely rude! I will NEVER try using their services again and don’t recommend anyone else to use them either.

I was stranded on the H1 the other day. I called Geico and get sent out Almeida & Sons Auto & Towing. I waited a total of 3 hours for a tow.
The first guy I talked to was heading towards Diamond Head (Later found out that was Geico’s screw up) but he missed me 2 times after explaining where I was. I even later sent a picture using google earth of where I was. He was not the most professional person I have talked to and also told me I was being humbug which kinda ticked me off. He also told me «We don’t use mile markers here in Hawaii» which I find hard to believe because I’ve used them before with other local towing companies and it was easy as pie. Also never heard back from him again. Either he was having a worst day, or he is just that stelar of a people person.
The second guy that came was well… a breath of fresh air. Super professional, extremely fast, and kept thing short and sweet. He had me hooked up and even through crazy traffic got me home in record time. Backed the car in the driveway like a pro (Not a lot of space to work with) and was all said in done in about 10 min.
All in all the experience could have been better, if it wasn’t for the first guy I talked to.

Jordan has rescued me like 6 times in the last 3 years. He’s super nice, fair, and professional. I don’t know what these other people are saying, must be another driver. Get Jordan he has the green truck. And his dad does dispatch. I’ve dealt with shady companies like tow jam, trust me that these guys and All Island Towing are the only people I would trust.

Worst «company» have ever dealt with on island. Stole my vehicle and took it to a location not authorized across island. Rude, hung up on me, wouldn’t answer calls. Gave my vehicle to another tow company after Insurance company/​roadside assistance recommended I report the car stolen… my car has still not arrived over 5 hours later…

If I could give 0 stars I would ! Guy that towed my car was not rude, he took care of it professionally but when I called the next day to find out if they had towed my car in the morning to Volkswagen the guy on the phone was very rude to me, said he wasn’t moving it till Volkswagen called him, and ended the conversation with «whateva «and hung up on me !!! Immediately I called Volkswagen who took care of the issue and will have my car taken to where it should be, Volkswagen will be filing a complaint for myself and for the representative he was rude to. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had with a service in my life, I’m disgusted in the way I was treated. I do not recommend this towing company to anyone!

I have to agree with the disrespectful, rude, and unprofessional comment below! Not only did they not show up, when I called to get a new ETA, the guy was rude and kept talking over me and wouldn’t let get a full sentence out. When I asked him to please listen to me, he hung up on me. I informed our roadside assistance company, who also said they had a difficult time communicating with the gentleman from this towing company.

Incredibly rude and disrespectful! Thank goodness my insurance company ended up sending another company out who was more than helpful, unlike Almeida & Sons. I wouldn’t even give this company 1 star.

The same guy has come to save me a few times when I had car troubles. They are by far, the most informative and helpful tow company I’ve delt with on the island. (Unfortunately the car seems to break down quite a bit when my husband is gone.)
Their trucks are clean (inside and out), and the guys seem clean as well!
Big thumbs up for the guys in the shiny green trucks to save the day for me!

Had a good experience with the tow today. Dealt with Lawrence and he tried to get my car to start before he had to tow me to the shop. Even though it didn’t start I appreciated him trying. Had good conversation with him over to the repair shop, which took 40 minutes. The price was a bit high, but got a discount for paying cash. He sounded gruff when I first talked to him, but he ended up doing a good job.

We called our insurance company for a tire repair/​tow, through road side assistance. 6 hours later we finally get a tow truck that can handle the job (not tow company’s fault). Long story short, we get towed to the dealership and the tow guy insists he could in fact fix the tire (as the original claim), so we leave the dealer and go down the road to where we could get this done. Mind you we called the claim in at 1015 am, and it was around 7pm by now. So, tired and aggravated my husband puts his spare tire on, that the tow guy helped get apart. We get ready to leave and my husband asked of there was anything to sign, and the guy asks for cash. We tell him our insurance covers it, and he says no he wants his f@*%ing cash. I call Progressive, who calls the tow company (his cell rings), the agent explains that both services were covered and that he could bill them. He says no, he wants his cash. I asked to pay with credit card, he doesn’t accept credit card but gets on the other line and tells Progressive to pay him with credit card not purchase order. Red flag #1. After a 34 minute conversation with progressive supervisors, and the tow guy. Who was rude to both ends, and he was the «owner». We ended up paying cash and getting reimbursed. I also don’t appreciate the lying, clearly on the receipt that I had to haggle out of you, it states all the types of credit cards you accept. You lied to both the insurance company and me. Moral of the story? Watch what you agree too. Some people want under the table work and double dipping. I highly suggest you don’t lie to insurance companies or try to scam them. They will find out. Per progressive supervisor, Almeida & Sons, has been reported to the progressive network for removal and termination of their contract. The supervisor recorded both ends of the conversation and the disrespectful cussing and broken English was unnecessary and very unprofessional. As a business man you could have got your point across without attempting to start a fight with my husband. I understand a lot of tow companies would love to do side work. But please negotiate that on your own time, and not on insurance dime.

Come to find out, from the second tow company that came out to help us (who was absolutely friendly, respectable, and professional, by the way) let me know that the man we dealt with is Lawrence, the owner of Almeida & Sons, and has been rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional to multiple people, and that we were the third person (s) this week that has had a problem with him.

As I was trying to leave the marine corps base gym today my car wouldn’t start. A guy at the parking lot was nice enough to try to help me jump start my car but it didn’t seem to work, so I ended up calling USAA for roadside assistance. They sent out Almeida & Sons Auto & Towing to help me out. Before Lawrence from Almeida & Sons showed up I had some time to log on to Unilocal and check out their reviews… I have to admit I was a little worried after reading about other people’s experiences with this company.
But after I met Lawrence I though he seemed like a really nice guy who knew what he was doing. He was able to get my car’s engine started and even offered to replace the broken battery though it was already after 8 pm on Friday! Everything went so smoothly and I was so happy to have my car fixed the same night!
I just can’t believe other people have had such different experiences with this company. I couldn’t be happier with the service I was provided.
