Nord Jewelers

In my 37 years on this planet I have driven by Nord Jewelers thousands and thousands of times, but all the times I’ve needed a reliable jeweler, it never occurred to me to stop in. When I was looking through my jewelry box last week I remembered I had my Grandfather’s old watch and after going online, I found that Nord Jewelers were the only people in Kalamazoo who service Seiko watches. We stopped in on Saturday morning and their small, but welcoming shop was packed.
First two things that I love: we were acknowledged immediately when we walked in the door and second we were NOT swarmed by staff. At the big box jewelry stores it can feel suffocating and downright scary when those doors open and the staff all come at you at the same time.
Even though Nord was full of young couples in love picking out engagements rings and wedding bands, we were helped right away. My watch, my Grandfather’s watch, which I believed was just a $ 25 sentimental timepiece turned out to be a pretty nice watch. My watch needed a new battery, which it did not fully accept, so the jeweler had some helpful tips about wearing the watch for two weeks to help it adjust to movement and then see if it starts to keep time more regularly — after just three days my watch is in business. The whole process of battery and cleaning was just $ 20, but Nord earned a customer.

This is hands down the best jeweler I’ve ever been to.
I was in town for two days to attend a friend’s wedding. While at my hotel, I noticed that one of the stones had fallen out of my wedding band. It must have been my lucky day, because it was sitting on the chair right next to me. I immediately Googled «jewelers,» and called Nord since it was the closest to my hotel. Samantha took my call. I asked her if they by chance had any availability to do a same day repair, and about how much something like this would cost. She told me to come on by so she could see how much time it might take. When i arrived, they put my ring under the scope and determined that the ring could be easily fixed while i wait by adjusting back to it’s original circular shape (which had been bent over time from the way i wear it). I was incredibly relieved to hear that the repair would only cost $ 30, since nothing had to be adjusted on the setting. As I was waiting, Samantha and i were chatting, and she asked if i’d like my engagement ring cleaned while i waited. I mean, sure! So i handed it over and she immediately noticed that 4 of my stones on this ring were also loose! I cringed at the idea of losing a stone on my engagement ring, which are much larger than the ones on my wedding band. She even brought me behind the counter so that i could see it for myself under the microscope. She sent me off for an hour, and when I came back, I was able to pick up my two now perfect-​again, and shiny, clean rings.
I felt very lucky to have been in such close proximity to Nord Jewelers when this happened. Thank you to the amazing staff who assisted me with this!

This jeweler is fantastic. The customer service and professionalism is totally on point and I could not be happier my fiancé chose Nord for my engagement ring. We live in Chicago so his multiple trips to Kalamazoo in order to pick out the ring and handle details should be clue number 1 that they are a top notch choice. My ring is gorgeous and I highly recommend them!

I’ve brought multiple watches here for repair and they have always done excellent work. Even though it’s obvious that I only need repairs and probably couldn’t afford most anything in their store, they have always treated me extremely well.

I used Nords several years ago to repair my mother’s rhinestone bracelet so my daughter could wear it at her wedding. They did a great job, and it looked beautiful.
Yesterday I walked in there with a ring that I had caught on something and bent out of shape. I was afraid it was a total loss, as the inlays were coming loose. The gentleman who helped me (and I wish I had gotten his name) said he would try to put the ring back into shape. Five minutes later, he brought me my ring — back in shape, and all the inlays had miraculously survived and gone back into place! He didn’t charge me a thing.
I’m a fan, and from now on will use no other jeweler!

My husband and I both designed our wedding bands through Nord Jewelers. We worked with Jeff primarily and Bob was also very helpful though the process. We were living in Chicago at the time but the design came together beautifully even with edits via email. I know I was a very hard customer to please but the team was more than willing to make tweaks where needed to create the ring of my dreams.
I am thrilled with the lovely engagement ring, emerald wedding band, and matching men’s emerald band Jeff and his team designed. All three will be priceless heirlooms for years to come.
The collection in the store too, is terrific with rings, rolexes and other fine jewelry. They have a great repair team in house that I’ve used before as well.

I have been here twice, and both times were very positive experiences. Both times were to receive help with products not purchased here.
The first time I wanted the band shortened on a watch I had purchased on eBay. I’ve been living downtown for years but never been in this jeweler because it is a block or two away from the central area, but they are one of the only jewelers downtown that is open on Monday. The store is beautiful inside and I was helped quickly and I had my watch back in about 10 minutes.
The second time is because I decided to do the band replacement on my expensive Garmin running watch by myself. I managed to snap off a pin and leave part of it stuck inside the watch face, unreachable to me. I went to one other jewelry store first for help (Spaman’s, also open Monday), and he said he would help me but I would need to leave it for a few days because he was very backed up.
I took it to Nord and the guy was able to remove the stuck piece in about 3 minutes, and didn’t charge me. He also let me sit down and use a jewelers mat for a few minutes so I could finish the band replacement right away.
Their service for things like that is as good as it gets, so I will definitely come here in the future if I am in the market for jewelry.

Hands down the best jeweler in town. I feel comfortable shopping there and I don’t feel judged as soon as I walk in. The service is great and they stand behind everything. No wonder they have been Readers’ Choice in Kalamazoo!
