Ohana Lawn Service is a family owned business that has been serving Windward Oahu since 1985. Over the years we have made amazing friendships in the community with residents and businesses alike. Some of our clients have been with us for over 25 years! We are grateful to have such loyal customers, and we do our best to continue to earn their loyalty with each service.

Business Owner

Norman is the President and founder of Ohana Lawn Service. He started the company in 1985 and has been at the helm ever since.

He spends his days consulting with clients on a wide range of issues related to property management. Our work on the landscape is related to many other facets of maintenance around the property, and with his years of experience Norman has created an invaluable network of professionals in the housing related industries.

Many times folks feel stumped by a garden or property issue and think the answer can’t be found. Norman can’t fix em all, but 99% of the time he can.

Called for an estimate and the guy who answered definitely had no aloha spirit. All mainland attitude and just a rude tone in his voice — certainly not be something I’d want to be around me or my property. Don’t let the Ohana name fool you.

We recently moved into a home that came with a jungle along Keolu hillside. If you know the area, you’ll know what I’m talking about. The yard has been last on the priority list since there are major house things to be done. This totally bothered my very go-​getter husband, so I decided to surprise him and get someone to come out and tame the jungle.
Norman came and gave me a quote within 24 hours of calling him, and scheduled for a crew to come out the next week.
They arrived nice and early this morning and got right to work. Their name says it all-​they really are Ohana. They paid attention to my 4 year old son and he was in heaven watching them work.
Other yard service companies smoke and swear while working but not them. Extremely efficient, clean, kind, and really know what they’re doing.
I look forward to using them for bi weekly yard maintenance in the very near future.
Oh, and my husband was beyond thrilled and surprised!

We’ve had the team out every two weeks for over a year and we couldn’t be happier. The crew is fast, friendly and open to fixing small problems as I discover them in the yard.
When I needed a LARGE tree trimmed, they gave advice on a great company who had the correct insurance for that, and I am grateful. We look forward to continuing to use them in the long-​term in our Keolu Hills home.

After the glowing reviews, I contacted the owner to come by and give me an estimate. I had already received four other estimates from other yard services. He quoted me an estimate 550% higher than the highest of the other quotes. On top of that he wasn’t very personable or eager to take on the job.

UPDATE: found out I’ve been overcharged because I’ve found services that are cheaper and do way more! So I really should thank these guys for pushing me to look elsewhere!
Doo doo still left in my yard not once but TWICE! Didnt even touch it actually. Did they jus weed wack around it? Lol, im confused. Anywho, Im a customer for a while now. At FIRST, yes, they were excellent and attention to detail. But they definitely aren’t consistent and its a shame because I really love to support locals n their businesses.
The last straw was when they refused to come monthly instead of every two weeks. I guess they don’t want to «work» n jus have «quick» fast kine cleaning. They blame their «schedule and amount of the customers» for the rush, (what good business «blames» customers?)
They also seem «not to care» if you cancel their inconsistent service, so already that tells me all I need to know.
Im jus bummed to lose them, but they leave me no choice.

I’m not going to be able to recommend them. I used them for nearly 2 years for monthly service, small lot in Kailua. Always paid my bill on time. With only a week notice — they informed me they would only do bi-​weekly service (doubling my cost) in a take it or leave it offer. I would have been willing to pay more — but double? No notice (well, 1 week) — it was just odd they left me high and dry.

We finally gave in and hired professionals to maintain our large yard on the Windward side. So happy we went with Ohana Lawn Care, they were the best choice.
Norman and his crew are professional, customer service focused and do an amazing job! Plus, they are reasonably priced and a family owned business.
They are truly worth every dollar and our yard and landscaping has never looked so good!

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing this family business for a long time now on a professional and personal level. My family has used their lawn services for years and we have never once been disappointed with the work they provide. They are very detailed oriented and efficient (but also quick). Its really hard to find good hard working small local business now a days it seems like. But not with this Ohana based company! If you are looking for a good recommendation on some local lawn care (or even remodeling) then look no further! I couldn’t recommend a more equipped and amazing lawn service! These guys are awesome! Last year when I pulled into the driveway (9 months pregnant) they all dropped what they were doing and insisted on carrying all my groceries up 3 flights of stairs to my house! This happened again shortly after she was born and yet again today (with my now 6 month old daughter) you have no idea how grateful I am. The name really says it all, thank you for treating me like Ohana:)

I have a home in Kailua and have been using Ohana Lawn Care for about 4 years. They have always been extremely dependable. They do a great job, and they are always so respectful of me and my family and guests. They are truly professional at what they do. Even when I first signed up with them, Sam was great to work with and helped me find a good day and time that worked with my schedule, as well as their own work schedule. I really appreciated his flexibility and willingness to find a level of service that was best suited for my property. I would certainly recommend their services to my friends and neighbors. My family has used O’hana Lawn Service many times at the recommendation of our property manager. Their service is exceptional. They are very knowledgeable, efficient, honest and hardworking! Most importantly they take great pride in every yard they work on and it shows. Living up against a mountain, you can imagine the jungle we had going on in our backyard. No project was ever too big or small for them. Sam and Norman are very easy to talk with and always make you feel at ease. I was meeting with a client at her house in Kaneohe one day and commented on her lush backyard: «Your backyard is so healthy and green!» Instead of saying thanks, she began to tell me of her lawn care woes: she’s too old to do it herself, so she hires someone else. Unfortunately, the company she had hired never show up on time or on the days they say they’re going to, they throw away and trim plants that she’s asked them not to touch and they don’t even speak English very well. Having had other very happy and satisfied friends on the Windward side who used a professional lawn care company, I confidently recommended Ohana Lawn Service. I emailed her their business card the very next day.
The next time I spoke to my client, which was about three weeks later, she was happy to report to me that her lawn was looking better than ever and that the service she received was dependable, reliable and top notch. Not a bad way to make me look good, right?! She was impressed, relieved and thankful and now had a regular bi-​weekly schedule with Ohana Lawn Service!
Other friends have remarked to me that they feel completely comfortable and at-​ease when the crew comes to do their thang. I know the company is locally owned and has many years of experience taking care of commercial and residential lawns and properties all over the island. My realtor friend refers Ohana Lawn to her property manager friends and to her clients who own vacation rentals and investment properties.
I can’t say I’ve used Ohana Lawn myself, but that’s only because I don’t have a yard. If I did, you bet your butt you know who I’d be calling to get it done! :)

Sam & Norman were really willing to work with me and my budget to figure out how to get most of my lawn service cares taken care of in a way that would be affordable to me. They just completed their first major service (my lawn and landscaping had been neglected for a while) and I’m very happy with how it turned out.
I’ve scheduled for them to come every other week for a very affordable and reasonable rate. Hopefully it’ll be much less work for them ongoing and I can find time to get to anything that they don’t (or pay them for additional services).
Bottom line is they’ve done an excellent job, for a reasonable rate, and are willing to listen to your concerns and work together with you.

Ohana Lawn services name in itself speaks volumes!
Ohana means «Family» and that is exactly the way Norman & Sam Wilhoite and there crew treat you.
When they come to our house the survey things that need to be picked up: one-​man canoes, put the dogs in the house before they begin to clean anything! The crew is works hard to make our yard look presentable for all occasions! They work hard, fast, efficient and are courteous!

I have not entered a contract with this fine individual. My review is on his consultation with me earlier this am!
I was a bit upset about how our lawn was not quite completed the way I felt it should have been. Not really knowing about the lawn care biz — I felt a need to reach out and get a second opinion on how things are done locally versus where I grew up (east coast — ya did it yourself, or landscaper folks made dang sure things met your satisfaction before they left!)! So I Unilocaled up ‘landscaper’ here in good ol’ Unilocal and up popped this wonderful business!
So I gave a call. I politely explained how I was disappointed with how things had turned out — and just wanted to have a consult with him. The owner was very happy to come over, assess what was done, and to try to help me out! I guess also I wanted to ensure I’m not just being «that stupid lady»! *you know what I’m talking about*
So he comes over — his first impression — the job wasn’t done! He definitely encouraged me to straighten that out — and I will! But now to his business:
Extremely knowledgable (I mean hello, he’s in the business so he better dang well be!) To be honest — I cannot speak on pricing as it can ALL vary depending on what you want done! At a minimum he can charge $ 80 for lawn service (and I believe that is per visit), all the way up to $ 300 DEPENDING on what you need/​want done. But the fact he took the time of day to help me better understand my lawn issues, and what follow up stuff I need to address with our current lawn maintenance folks (or hubby), THAT makes him stand out in my mind! :)
He also even gave me some easy tips for some typical pesky nuisances around here for my fruit trees! Also gave me some cost saving efforts to attack the never ending battle of the weeds — something I really do appreciate. THAT speaks MILLIONS to me of how this guys work ethic is! If things don’t necessarily pan out with our current lawn folk — I just might come to this guy!

Here is a great local company to take care of your landscaping. This is the perfect service for a very busy business professional like myself. As my business has picked up I have very little time to attend to my yard. These guys come to your house on schedule, are neat, and get the job done right. I have used others in the past… oops! How did I find these guys??? I watched them in around my neighborhood and asked their customers about their services… word of mouth… best marketing… I hope to see more reviews here so others can find the best.
