History

Established in 2007.

Chris Tarvyd grew up traveling to Tahiti every summer since he was little and spent some time in Europe where he discovered the wonderful world of crepes. Rosario’s «Kakay» favorite restaurant in Cebu, Philippines was a creperie, so it was only natural that one of their first dates was in a creperie in Manila. When they were at a Farmer’s Market here in Hawaii, they noticed nobody was doing crepes at fairs and festivals at the time so they decided to try it out. Their first event was Windward Hoolaulea in 2007 and they were an instant hit. While they were just doing fairs and festivals on the weekends for fun, everyone kept asking «Where’s your restaurant?» They opened up the restaurant in Kailua in 2008. Since then, word of mouth has been extremely kind and they have won several major awards including the prestigious Ilima Award and ‘Best Crepes’ in Honolulu magazine. The first location at 131 Hekili St. got too small, so they moved to 143 Hekili St. with twice the seating capacity.

Business Owner

Kakay grew up in the Philippines and always had a penchant for cooking. Chris grew up primarily in Los Angeles but did a lot of traveling. He too loves food and enjoys cooking. Their love love has translated into the use of only the freshest ingredients available and some unique combinations not found anywhere else. They are huge fans of the Food Network and have two puppies named Bobby Flay and Rachael Ray.
