Dr. Millar is honest, knowledgable and kind. I’ve been going to Aikahi Dental for a couple of years and they always take great care of me. I went in last week because I had a terrible toothache. They were able to fit me in that day and turns out it was just a sinus infection. Dr. Millar prescribed me some antibiotics, gave me great advice and sent me on my way. Thank you to the great team at Aikahi Dental!

Love this clinic! Dr & hygienists are fantastic. I am not a fan of going to the dentist, but since it’s a rule of life to go, then I’m definitely going to Aikahi Dental. Friendly; professional; GREAT with my 2 yr old; no pressure for all kinds of dental work; and best of all, there’s no ‘scoldings’ from the doc or his team. Highly recommend!!!

I hate going to the dentist. There’s nothing fun about having your mouth pried open and having someone drill into your teeth. After doing everything I could to avoid going to the dentist I finally decided I couldn’t afford not to take care of my teeth anymore so I took a chance and tried Dr. Millar’s office. After a complete exam and cleaning I needed a couple fillings and he discovered a cracked tooth that eventually needed a root canal and a crown. There’s no way to make that pleasant but the staff was nice, professional, and informative. I got an estimate and a description of the work I needed before hand so there were no secrets or surprises. I never had to wait more than a couple minutes after showing up and often didn’t wait at all. They take appointments seriously so if I had a 10am appointment I was sitting in in the chair right at 10am. Nice! Dr. Millar also kept me updated while he was working so I knew what was happening and how much longer things were going to be. He was very careful to keep the pain and discomfort minimized as much as possible. For my filling he used a laser drill which I found to be far better than the traditional drill. For the crown and root canal he had to use the traditional drill so if you’re having more serious work done you still have to endure that. If you’re avoiding the dentist like I was I highly recommend you give him a try. I’m no longer terrified of or dread going to the dentist!

So… No. Just NO. I feel slightly bad because people make mistakes and all, BUT I am in so much pain right now that it is all going out the window. I started going here about a year and a half ago shortly after I moved to Hawaii because they were right next door to my work which is convenient. I have gone twice. The first time was my first appointment since graduating from college and getting kicked off my parent’s dental plan so approximately 3 years. I had my first cavity in my life which was no surprise due to my lack of dental visits in quite some time. No big deal. Although nobody at this office is particularly friendly I didn’t care. I was just glad to finally have insurance again! Yippee! Whenever I was due for my next visit, I went to this dentist again. I think it was in June 2014. I «did not have any cavities» and I was excited but mildly skeptical. About two weeks ago one of my back molars started hurting substantially and I went to a new dentist that my friend had recommended. I understand that there is a possibility that, y previous dentist had missed something but I am not very sympathetic when I am unable to eat due to the fact that my new dentist found a GIANTCAVITY that she said has probably been growing for ATLEAST A YEAR. Half my nerve has been ripped out of my tooth and my entire face feels like an atomic bomb went off inside my tooth. I am getting a root canal in a few weeks. Yay…

I was visiting my brother and chipped my tooth from biting into something hard. He recommended his dentist, Dr Millar. I called at 8am and got a 12:30 appointment. They were running a half hour behind, but Dr Millar was very apologetic. Not a big deal for me and I appreciated the concern. He established that it was a minor chip that could be filed and buffed to return my tooth to a smooth non-tongue irritating state. He explained to me what damage could have occurred and what he would have to do then, saying he sees it a lot from tongue rings. Interesting. Dr Millar was calming, thoroughly explained everything, instilled plenty of confidence and was fast. I was turned loose less than 10 minutes later with a smile and«no charge» for the visit! Wow! Talk about aloha kindness. In today’s medical world I was left shocked! I truly appreciate the ease of the whole process. I was anticipating the worst with being required to get xrays, go through a full exam, and high fees(I don’t have dental insurance.) But just the opposite! Is it crazy that I’m thinking of switching dentists when my permanent residence is 5,000 miles away?!

I have a huge fear of the dentist, and have had many bad experiences in the past, but Dr Millar is so wonderful and gentle! I am so glad I found him! I had a root canal done at a dentist in Virginia, and if that experience wasn’t traumatic enough, the root canal didn’t take. I had to have to tooth extracted. Dr Millar at Aikahi Dental did everything he could to help me relax and have the experience as least-traumatic as possible. I have been back to him several times since for routine cleanings and simple fillings, and he is so wonderful! Not to mention the rest of the staff in the small office are really friendly, call you by name, and I’ve never had to wait in the lobby for more than a couple minutes. I had a filling done today and was in and out of there in 25 minutes! Plus, i experienced NO pain with the filling! Highly recommend!
