Absolutely delicious Banana Bread. The bad news was that they had run out of Banana Bread, but more was«coming in 20 minutes.» We decided to wait with a cool Lililko’i Lemonade and nosh on free samples. The good news was that when the banana bread arrived after 25 minutes, it was piping hot and fresh out of the oven. Yes, $ 9 is steep for banana bread, but that’s tourist pricing for you, and I don’t begrudge her for making a living with this cottage industry. Her stand has been there for 30 years, and the bread is fantastic! My only regret was buying only one loaf. The garlic flavored taro chips were also excellent, light, crispy, flavorful and grown in the taro fields right below the stand. But I couldn’t bring myself to spend $ 7 on an approx. 6 oz. bag of chips. By comparison, the Banana Bread seemed a better value. I wouldn’t make the trip just for Julia’s Banana Bread, but the drive along the northern part of Maui is scenic and worthwhile. There are a number of interesting spots along the way including the Nakelele Blowhole and the Olivine Pools.

I wasn’t too excited to try roadside food on my Road to Hana, but the signs just kept popping up every so often, so I succumbed and got some banana bread. Really good bread! It was moist and delicious. The dried fruits wasn’t my cup of tea though.

Great service, and nice to have samples, felt obligated to buy something after the samples and drive there; the banana bread was mediocre, have had better done within the family, just seems like it’s missing something, cool village and sights but don’t make the trek just for the bread. $ 9 banana bread is hard to swallow, and I’m not talking about the price

I’m only 95% sure this is the best Banana Bread in all of Maui. Probably best if I just keep checking any time I’m nearby. Just to be sure. I recommend you do the same. It’s a nice sized loaf sure. I do love that! Thank you Julia’s.

Best banana bread I’ve had(sorry grandma). I’ve had some from all over the island on the many trips we’ve taken here but we keep coming back here. Our favorites are the banana bread, lilikoi butter and her lemonades. I’m not a huge lemonade fan but her Kula strawberry lemonade is the best I’ve ever had. Many reviews talk about the last mile or so stretch of road before getting into town. It can get a little crazy but if you are paying attention to the whole section you can see where other cars are. There are several spots along the way where it is relatively easy for two cars to pass each other. If you wait at one of those for an oncoming car to pass that you’ve seen in advance it is quite easy to get around the road without having to back up and hope four tires stay on the small road :) We’ll be back next time we’re here.

The banana bread is amazing! Very moist, the service was good, and there are plenty of samples, the only issue I have is the drive, which isn’t that safe, but shouldn’t reflect on the business. We have also ordered online with no issues, the bread still came tasting delicious.

The banana bread is closer to banana cake. Amazing. But I actually liked the strawberry lemonade and taro chips as much if not more than the banana bread. Overall a wonderful stop, highly recommended

We didn’t try a ton of banana bread during our stay in Maui to compare, but this is probably the best banana bread I have ever had still. Although it’s a steep price of $ 9/loaf, it does stay delicious and moist for days(if it even lasts that long). Her POG juice is amazing and so fresh and comes in a cute mason jar. Definitely stop here if you can.

So glad we decided to make the trip here! You take a gorgeous winding road to reach. At one point you’re on a one lane road so consider yourself warned! The banana bread is moist and delicious The coconut candy, the coconut candy, oh my God the coconut candy! So amazingly good. It’s $ 15, but once you try the sample you’ll know it’s well worth it. I wish I had brought enough cash to buy some to give as souvenirs. The whole adventure to get the famous banana bread makes it a great little day trip while visiting this breath taking island!

I agree with the previous review about her making a killing on $ 9 bread, but it is really good !!! She has samples of other things such as lilikoi butter, taro chips, and coconut candy. Julie is really friendly and likes to know about where you come from. When we went, there really wasn’t any one there besides another family. My partner is not a fan of banana bread but he really liked Julie’s. It has a subtle hint of banana, not too overbearing. Bread does not get hard, we went to Julie’s on a Thursday and took some back home with us. We arrived home on a Sunday night and it still tasted like we had just bought it. We did not store it in anything special, just the little plastic bag she puts it in so we were really surprised that the flavor or texture of the bread had not changed. The drive really isn’t as bad as everyone makes it out to be. This stand is great if you’re already on the way. Otherwise, I wouldn’t make a special trip just for it. There are tons of great banana bread places all around the island and Julie’s is one of them!

I only encountered one real city slicker driver that was completely clueless. I grew up driving on one lane dirt logging roads in Northern California. This road isn’t much different. Please be careful, drive slow and courteous. Julia will have plenty of banana bread when you get there. We stopped here on a trio to Maui a couple years ago and we remembered this place and how good the banana bread was. This time we specifically drove this beautiful yet nerve-wracking road just to get some of Julia’s bread. It’s $ 9 a loaf but worth it. She sells a variety of other things including jam, coconut candy, taro chips, lulikoi butter and fresh lemonade. Julia is a very nice lady. She told us about the taro and that they grow it like potatoes down in the field. The scenery on the way to and from Julia’s is hard to beat. It will be a stop on our next trip as well.

Julia’s really is the best! I was hesitant to go there at first being a somewhat novice driver and having only heard of what kind of road it was to get to Julia’s. Well, firstly, they definitely weren’t wrong about that road. It literally is a single laned road on the edge of a cliff. There are NOBARRIERS! Luckily I went during the off season and there was barely any traffic. I did have a situation where I had to back up on the edge of the cliff while it was raining heavily. That was terrifying. Anyway, look at the pictures to familiarize yourself with the shack. It is also the same color as the signs! There are a few stops before Julia’s that may trick you into thinking it is so. The parking at Julia’s is extremely limited and borderline on private property so don’t plan to stay long. There is a little driveway there that will allow you to turn around if you don’t want to continue the drive all the way. My advice: Bring cash, lots of it. Julia’s isn’t cheap. The prices are steep but so so so worth it! It is truly the best banana bread I have had. To compare, the other breads from Maui I’ve had were Old Lahaina Luau and Aunty Sandy’s. While the others were good, no banana bread I have ever had holds a candle to Julia’s. They also have an assortment of multi-flavored lemonades, candies, nuts, dried fruit. There is a sampling tray so you can try for yourself before you want to buy out the entire shack! If I were to do it again, I would’ve bought a few more loaves. I was playing it safe in buying one loaf. How silly of me! Oh well, next time!

Julia must make a killing! $ 9 a banana bread loaf is a bit steep, but they are really tasty, moist, and lasted the whole plane ride from OGG to LAX; totally worth it! They have samples also, a big plus! And we got the dried mango because it was so good. The jams are great, and perfect for gifts. It was really hot and the pineapple lemonade totally hit the spot. This is a must if you’re on this side of the island. We were at Olivine Pools and saw signs for Julia’s and just couldn’t resist.

My friend and I drove to this place to get a loaf of their banana bread. First off, you must be a confident driver. It is not for the faint of heart. I don’t know how my friend(driver) kept calm the whole time because one wrong turn, and you could fall off the cliff! After you pass the famous Nakalele blowhole, keep going through the windy road. Although it is paved, it becomes narrower, just enough space for one car to pass through. If you see an oncoming traffic, make sure you are at the spot where there is enough space for both cars to pass by! The view is beautiful! Lush green mountains and fields, just stunning! About 3 miles or so, you will see a green stand on a left side of the road. We bought a loaf of banana bread, lilikoi butter, and a jar of guava-lilikoi-orange-lemonade. I really loved the lemonade! So refreshing and fresh! I must admit, it was better than Wow Wow Lemonade. I smothered lilikoi butter on the banana bread. So messy but who cares! Tastes great! Lilikoi butter, I put that sh*t on all kind of breads! Driving here made Road to Hana much easier!

Best Banana Bread ever!!! I have a really hard time finding banana bread I can eat since I’m allergic to nuts and she doesn’t put nuts I hers and it is so moist and yummy! We ate the entire loaf before we made it back to our home lol so good and the drive is amazingly beautiful too! So worth it!!!

The banana bread is worth the dangerous drive. Crazy one lane road with death drops to the ocean below. The bread is that good. Not to mention the pineapple coconut jam. Man up and take the drive.

There are a few places to purchase Banana Bread on this section of road and all around Maui. On this road, Skip the Pink shack and the long driveway options and head straight to Julia’s green ‘treehouse’ just up the hill from the bridge. My criteria for Banana Bread is that it shouldn’t require a glass of milk to accompany it: it should be moist enough to eat on it’s own. Julia’s is the only banana bread that I’ve found that meets this criteria, and I hereby herald it the best Banana Bread on Maui for that reason. It’s not for the faint of heart to get here, as the road is quite narrow(single car width) but the Banana Bread makes this trip totally worth it. I also had some candied nuts, a Strawberry mint drink, and various other goodies, and all were really good. All around great stop! You won’t be disappointed.

You need to be a fairly committed treat lover to brave the dangerous two miles of one-lane, cliff-hugging road to make it here. We had at least two«oh shit there’s a car coming, we need to back up several yards to allow them to barely squeeze past us» moments, and I’ll say straight up that my companion will never do the road again, and wouldn’t even get out of the car to sample the bread due to the trauma. Once we had it in our hands, though, it was truly as unique as they say, dark and moist enough to last for the next several days that we had it with our morning coffee. If I were to hazard a guess, I’d say it’s a combo of extremely ripe bananas and vegetable oil, but it totally works, and I’ve already volunteered to go in solo for it next time.

My wife hates the drive, but loves the treats! Incredible banana bread, so moist. Passion fruit butter is simply amazing! Great on the bread, or toast, or for dipping fruit in. It really is worth it, such a beautiful spot.

I don’t know what was more entertaining as I pondered this review: the«tips» for Julia’s telling you to order online because«the dangerous drive wasn’t worth it,» or the reviews that echo my sentiment that the«one-lane twisty, crazy drive makes it worth it.» Clearly, folks, if you are of the former mindset, Maui may not be the best place for you, and please don’t order your banana bread online; find it at a more«convenient» roadside location. However, if you’re an adventurer and explorer with unrelenting wanderlust like I am, you’ll be filled with wonder and satisfaction as you discover Julia’s Best truly hidden(although the lime green signage and shack are both helpful). You’ll pay a pretty penny for the treats that Julia’s proffers, but you’re on vacation, you’re in Maui, set your expectations correct. It also gets pricey to make these baked goods and treats when I’m guessing it’s not easy to procure the ingredients to a location this remote. Plus, the stuff sold here is really, really tasty. We sampled everything, from the awesome banana bread, to the dehydrated mango/papaya, and the cashew clusters, but we ended up leaving with a $ 15 container of coconut candy! It seems like a lot to pay for a single container of candy, but it will transport you and your tastebuds in a transcendental way. It’s the magic of Maui and it’s spirit! Seriously, though, the coconut candy was in a handy resealable and recyclable container, and it kept well for days and through many temperature changes over the course of many hikes and treks and beach lounges. The lady who was working(not Julia) was friendly and super-passionate about their goods for sale. Sadly, however, the juice shack was closed for winter, but that would have been great to try, too.
