Mary Beth at the front desk was fantastic! We had a need for a microwave and a minifridge, as food at the ski resort was so expensive. We had no problem paying more for an upgrade since we booked the most basic room. We wanted to be able to grab at the grocery store and make a few meals for ourselves. She was more than happy to oblige and went above and beyond what she had to do. She switched us to a room with a full kitchen, and we were able to make dinner, breakfast, and a to go lunch for the next day. The room was clean, big, and comfortable. She made our day! Thanks, Mary Beth! We will definitely be staying here again!

From the outside you’d never guess how nice and clean the rooms are… I loved staying here because it’s so clean (I’m a germaphobe) and the beds are comfy. Rooms are quite small, but the insulation is great and heater works well. Shower is just enough for one person. But I cannot emphasize how clean and cozy this place is! Worth the money and the stay.

Very accommodating staff, clean rooms, and comfy beds. I love that they are dog friendly! The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the walls are paper thin. Not their fault, it’s just a older building. Could be improved with a fan in the rooms for white noise since you can actually hear people talking through the walls. But if you’re not a light sleeper, this is a very nice place to stay. I will return, prepared with a small fan or ear plugs :)

Yes it’s overpriced and it’s old for a little cottage… but how can you resist a super quiet stay and a cool metal cabinet eat in kitchen???
This place is located in town and a few blocks away from everything.
The general store, coffee shop, brewery, restaurants, all of them are within a two minute walk.
When checking on and out be mindful of this tiny town and the hours. The front desk lady is only available a few hours a day.
Super friendly and on our last day we asked to check out late on our last day and she let us stay until late afternoon!
Fur baby friendly there was plenty of room for our fur boys to run around in the living room to even pull out the couch and lounge. At night in the super quiet bedroom there was a yummy mountain breeze that would blow. Open both sets of windows inside the bedroom. Yes we felt safe and it was quiet to keep all the windows open.
We didn’t use the front porch, not much to see and it’s super tiny.
At nights we were super tired from June Lake play and Yosemite exploring we didn’t want to do anything but relax. Cooking and eating was super easy in this full size well equipped kitchen. Did I mention the 50’s steel kitchen cabinet envy I had about this place!!!
Cute trinkets lined the walls in the living room and as we were getting ready to leave (we can’t stand tv so we didn’t notice it) by the tv there was a binder of maps, dining guide, contacts, travel tips… everything in that binder, how cool!!!
There is a fireplace but we never fired it up. We wanted to be as cold as possible, after all our home base is Vegas!

I went to Unilocal before staying here and the reviews were not that great to be honest, but we were very pleasantly surprised not only by June Lake as a town but by June Lake Villager! It was just adorable, cozy, clean and it was our own little house! The studio cabin is what we stayed in it was a walk away from Tiger Bar which is DELICIOUS and awesome to go to for food or bar has pool and what not. It had all of the basic necessities you would need in a home plus the awesome fire place/​stove which we used and overall just great. Only downside is the showers very small and kind of strange water pressure, still worth it 100%!

We had a reservation through Expedia and had to make a last minute emergency cancelation. The staff was very accommodating and told us that they will refund our money if they can resell the room. They didn’t have to do this since the cancelation policy clearly stated that the rooms are non-​refundable but they did it anyway. We got our money back and a nice courteously phone call. Great business practice, very much appreciated. Looking forward to staying here next time.

We booked a standard queen room for 1 night at this motel & were glad we didn’t have to stay longer. $ 100/​night is not bad for a summer stay, however, the facilities were subpar even at that rate. Came into the room, 65 degrees on the thermostat. Went to close the window, it was in bad shape, off the frame, propped up by something. I tried to turn up the heat but the heater wouldn’t kick in. Walked to the office to let the lady know about the window, she had to come by and wrestle with it to close. She also had to grab a lighter to switch on the pilot light for the heater, since they don’t keep the pilot light on in the summer. I’m sorry but I can only imagine how cold it would get in there over night esp since it was 65 when we got in at 3pm in the afternoon. The housekeepers or maintainence people should have addressed the broken window & cold room so that the customers wouldn’t have to deal with it first thing as they check in.
Although the room we stayed in seemed to be remodeled and the bed spread & sheets were good quality, the bathroom was old. The cheapest showerhead in the world in the shower. My husband is 5’9 and he couldn’t even get under the showerhead to shower properly.
In the morning we had a 7am wake up call by the construction crew right by the motel, jackhammering away for about an hour.
Overall, we had a pretty bad experience at the Villager, and will not return.

We stayed here for 2 nights on a trip to Yosemite. The town of June Lake is a cute little spot, beware that the restaurants and shops close quite early.
We had our small dog with us and paid a nominal fee for him. Our room was on the first floor in the back, the room was very clean and it was nice to have a mini kitchen with a dorm fridge, utensils and microwave. The bed was comfortable too.
The only gripe I have is about the toilet, we had to hold the handle down for about 10 seconds to get it to flush.

The crew working the facilities was very accommodating and VERy friendly. They made our stay worth it.
I would come back and we have on many occasions.

Absolutely hilarious!
The folks here are nice but wow, so glad my girlfriend and I have a sense of humor. The room falls drastically to the north east. Meaning your head in bed is about 4 inches below your feet. Got into the room and had to light the furnace. So glad we decided to collect match books on out road trip cuz we are in a non-​smoking room and we needed a match. Got it to lite the 32 degree room once, then it went out! Can’t get it going again, even with a lit pilot. The sheets felt like sand paper and all the pillows were different.
All laughs… so glad we do have a sense of humor. And no… won’t be back.

My boyfriend and I stayed overnight here over president’s day weekend because mammoth was too expensive and we didn’t mind the drive.
We walked in and thought it was the nicest motel we’ve been in! The bed was really comfortable and sheets were nice and clean. The room was clean as well. Only 4 stars because their shower was so small!
I would definitely stay here again.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for the 2015 New Years weekend from 1⁄1 to ¼ and we were extremely pleased with the accommodations. Our stay was mainly for snowboarding at Mammoth and we were initially worried it would be too far from the resort, however it was only a 20 minute drive (if you cut through the Scenic Loop). This saved us quite a bit of money. In fact, they even matched a price quote we saw from the Internet that had technically expired.
Even though June Lake Villager was a «smaller-​ish» hotel in a lesser known town in the mountains, it exceeded our expectations. It was clean, the heater provided ample heat, the water was hot and powerful, and it even had a small kitchen area. Parking was easily accessible and it was across the street from the town’s two main restaurants. They even gave us a $ 5 beer voucher for the local brewery. Sadly, we didn’t get a chance to go.
I would highly recommend this place to other visitors, and we will likely stay here again next season when we snowboard and ski at Mammoth.
Wish we could have seen the cat! :)

Wonderful accommodations in a super convenient location. It’s a short walk to the June Lake marina and is smack in between The Tiger Bar and the new June Lake Brewery (both a must-​visit). It’s also a short walk to the market and a cute coffee shop that serves a modest breakfast. It was charming, clean, affordable, and the staff were very friendly. The 22 year old orange cat Max is a fixture there, and shares the same small town hospitality of the staff. We made the Villager our home base before and after a hike at the 20-​Lakes Basin. The Villager’s staff were nice enough to allow us to store our non-​hiking luggage while we were gone for 3 days, so we wouldn’t have to worry about it sitting in our cars at the trailhead. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite of sorts the first few nights and it had a full kitchen. The last night in town after our hike we stayed in a standard room which was also quite nice. I would stay there again and would recommend it to June Lake visitors.

Superschöné Gegend, sehr freundliches Personal, normal eingerichtetes Zimmer ohne grossen Schnick-​Schnack. Als Alleinreisender, der viel in Motels übernachtet, war diese Unterkunft wirklich sehr angenehm. Schnelles Wi-​Fi. Tipp: Ein paar Meter weiter untem am See kann man grillieren. Sehr schön am Abend. Ruhige Gegend, alles tip-​top.

I was really worried when my husband booked this place for thanksgiving vacation without check it out all the reviews on Unilocal.I was so relieved when we called a few days b4 our arrival to ensure we have all the cooking essential ready in our 2 bed room cabin. The receptionist was really helpful and friendly.
The cabin was really clean and cozy with the fire place. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything I needed to prepare for the thanksgiving meal.
The rooms were really warm and everything is in working condition.
We also borrowed a few nice kids movies to keep my kids occupied in the evening. You can check them out in the reception desk.
The location was great! We can walk to the Tiger café, grocery store. There is a marina nearby too!

I don’t see what any complaints are about?!! We thought hospitality was stellar!
We pulled into town later than expected and didn’t find our key on the door of the office, had to wake one of the girls up to get it, she was super apologetic and polite and even brought us coffee the next day, I regretfully do not remember her name, but she was a sweetheart! The room was very quaint and clean, and the heater kicks butt! We love June mountain and everyone in it, this place is no exception. We will definitely be back to The Villager.
I’m glad we didn’t read some of these erroneous reviews before booking… would have missed out on a good thing! Thanks for the stay guys (3÷2−4 #102)

First off, the June Lake area is BEAUTIFUL… a must see.
Now for this property… sleep in your car instead. I tend to take negative reviews with a grain of salt. sour grapes by some… but after looking on Tripadvisor and Unilocal… the negative ratings are JUSTLY deserved…
Let me start off by saying I am a cancer patient (leukemia). I had planned to come up the weekend of Oct 4. I made a reservation earlier in the week because I wanted to go to the Chili cook off and beerfest. Unfortunately, my health was not real good after I made the reservation. I called on Friday to say I could not make it due to health reasons. They explained that I would still have to pay for the room UNLESS they could resell the room that night. If they resell the room, they told me I would NOT be charged. I said fine. Mary Beth (I GUESS the manager) called me on Friday night saying the room had been rented and I WOULD NOT be charged. I thought great! … on to part 2
I checked my mastercard online and LO AND BEHOLD, these bandits charged me anyway. THEY LIED… I called and Mary Beth told me too bad the charge would stand EVEN THOUGH they said the day before I WOULD NOT be charged. I was LIVID… what a total rip off… stealing from one and LYING about it. I have since called my credit card company to file a complaint.
Talk about talking out your A**. AVOID this hellhole at all cost… I would rate it lower but I can’t give a MINUS rating…
HORRIBLE customer service (ESPECIALLY THE RUDE manager Mary Beth)… read the other reviews (they all say the same thing. VERY BAD staff)… they are THIEVES and LIARS…
CHECK out ALL the bad reviews… they say the same thing… coincidence? THEY could care less about customer service…
