Sweet Caroline’s Cream & Coffee

Awesome little ice cream and cofffee place. I rarely give 5 stars, even to unique local places, but everything is always great here. Good friendly service, great product and great atmosphere in the gryphon building.
One thing I do wish they would change is the light bulbs they use in their light fixtures… silly I know. They have more of a cold warehouse feel than a warm cozy coffee and ice cream shop. But since that’s all I can complain about, I can easily give 5 stars.
Lots of ice creams to choose from, and they rotate other flavors so there always seems to be something different to try. The coffee drinks are a nice add especially during the colder winter months. Plus it’s fun to go check out the art in the gallery across the hallway.
I also really appreciate their evening hours. It’s nice to have a place to get coffee at night other than starbucks.

Great location and delicious ice cream! Super cute interior with lots of great decorations and plenty of seating for large groups or small. Service was okay, it was closer to closing so maybe I just came in at an off time. Regardless, I will definitely be back!

Forget 31 flavors. If you want a great scoop of ice cream and a quaint place to sit with friends, family or that special someone, Sweet Caroline’s is THE place to go in Joplin.

Located inside the Gryphon building, this store features 32 flavors of hard-​packed ice cream — no soft serve — and flavored coffees and candy. The parlor has a vintage feel with an old-​fashioned soda fountain.
Free samples are available on all ice cream flavors, all you have to do is ask! Employees are friendly and prices are cheap. I love what they’ve done with this building and Sweet Caroline’s is a nice addition!

Only 1 person working the counter & he wasn’t very well trained or even informed about the daily special. Felt bad for the guy, not his fault just poor management.

How exciting that Joplin now has an adorable little ice cream parlour. There’s just something about that nostalgic soda fountain feeling that instantly makes you feel right at home. Sweet Caroline’s is one of those places that will take you back as soon as you walk in the door.
My husband and I went there over the weekend to grab a couple of pints to take home. There are 32 ice creams to choose from, and they offer free samples of any flavor so you’ll know you like it before you buy it. They do not make their own ice cream here, but the product they’ve selected is very good. So many unique flavors — Butterscotch Bomb and Chocolate Peanut Butter is what we chose — as well as the classic chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. It was difficult to settle on a flavor but ended up very happy. I can’t wait to go back and select another. Red Velvet Cake, you’re next!
They also have old fashioned gourmet candy and an espresso bar. For «research» purposes, I ordered a chocolate latte. I love trying other coffees — not drip coffee, but the espresso. There are very few that pass the test — in town it’s pretty much Starbucks and Red Onion Espressoria that I love. But sad to say, I did not enjoy Sweet Caroline’s latte. It did not have enough chocolate to cut down on the bitter coffee flavor. For reference, I like my lattes sweet but not too sweet. If you are like me, you may want to pass. Unless it was just a one-​off coffee accident, and the next time I go it will be amazing. I may give it one more try, or ask them for an extra pump of chocolate. I don’t want to give up too soon.
However, the 4 star rating is for the ice cream and the atmosphere. Such an adorable little shop. And while we were there, a barber shop quartet was singing. Not sure if that is common or we just got lucky, but it was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. We will absolutely be back.

Sweet Caroline’s is a fun little ice cream parlor. My husband and I went on our date and it was a nice way to finish up our evening. We appreciated the cute, old-​fashioned vibe and the ice cream variety.
Next time we will definitely bring the kids as they would really enjoy the ice cream as well as the candy counter.
