Piedmont Urgent Care by WellStreet – John’s Creek

Firstly, I must say that the medical treatment and care received was excellent. My one star rating is based entirely upon the facility management. My daughter sought treatment for nausea, vomiting and general discomfort. When checking in, the receptionist took her insurance card and told her the facility had recently been reclassified and she was required to pay the elevated Emergency Room copay rather than the much smaller office visit copay. She did not want to go wait in another line somewhere else, so she paid. Someone came in, took her vitals and said, «the nurse practitioner will be with you shortly.» What?! If this facility classifies itself as an emergency room and bills patients as such, shouldn’t services provided be commensurate? Turns out, there were NO DOCTORS even in the building! Yes, the care provider was excellent; but she did NOT have the level of education or experience for what was billed. We will not be returning to this facility and this also makes me question Piedmont Hospital’s practices in general.

NEVER GO HERE!!! I was prescribed a medication that wasnt supposed to be taken with medications i was currently taking the doctor did NOT inform me and i had a server allergic reaction and ended up in the hospital. The hospital treated me for my allergic reaction but said i was to follow up with the doctor that diagnosed me with tracheitis. So i went back to the urgent care and explained the situation and i waited for about 2 hours for them to call me back after illegally pulling my medical records for the last 5 years asking me why did i have this or that or this anf that and treat me like dirt after their doctor did wrong! They yelled screamed and crused at me so i left…

Very fast service, sharp nurse and doctor. Appreciated Dr. Huong and RN Michael. Will definitely return as needed.

Wow. I have to say that this place has really gone downhill over the last year or so. I’ve resorted to using their services a few desperate times when there’s just been no other option or when I’ve been too sick to go any further from home, and it’s been fairly acceptable healthcare, but this last visit was pretty bad.
First of all, it was the Sunday evening after a holiday weekend, and I walked in to a waiting room filled with patients. I had a 103 fever before I left my house and an infected tonsil that was about to pop out of the side of my throat, so I wasn’t about to drive all over town looking for the shortest wait time, but I almost cried when the receptionist said they had only one doctor and one nurse working. Uh really? Wouldn’t a Sunday after a majory holiday weekend be like a peak time for urgent care visits? Obviously yes by the number of folks in the waiting room and who were apparently being tended to in the back. So why not have sufficient staff on hand?
I finally got taken to a room about an hour and a half later. The nurse asked me what was wrong and I told her my symptoms. She did not look at my tonsil before leaving to get the doctor. I waited another 5 – 10 minutes for him (because he was in the middle of tending to somebody else’s injury and saw me when he could take a break from that). He walked into the room and said, «The nurse was really impressed with your tonsil. She said it looks pretty nasty,» or something to that effect. Interesting. I guess she must have had x-​ray vision.
Doctor looks at my tonsil and is, rightfully, horrified. He decides he’s not going to run any tests though and is just going to give me a z-​pack. That’s cool, ’cause I felt sure I was going to leave with an antibiotic to kill whatever was waging war with my immune system, but I was also shocked. Prior to dragging my butt out of bed, I’d called the on-​call doctor for my PCP and described my symptoms. No way was I getting dressed and waiting at urgent care if what I had sounded viral. The on-​call doctor assured me that it sounded like a bacterial infection and that I would feel better if I went to urgent care and got antibiotics, but she also explained that they would do three things at urgent care (because they were what SHE would do): (1) test for strep, (2) test for mono, and (3) draw blood. So imagine my surprise when the doctor at urgent care did none of those things. It just surprised me after walking in with that expectation. Then again, he had a waiting room filled with patients who had arrived after me, so I guess routine tests weren’t high on the priority list.
I left with my prescription, took it, and still felt like poo the next day. In fact I felt worse. In the past, somebody from this urgent care has ALWAYS called me the day after a visit to see how I’m doing. That never happened after this visit. So instead I went to my PCP’s office to make sure I didn’t need a stronger antibiotic or have some kind of abscess on my tonsil. What did the PCP do first thing? Yep. Checked for strep, mono, and drew blood. They also immediately referred me to an ENT to check for an abscess, and I only started feeling better after getting a stronger antibiotic.
I’m really sad to see the quality of this office go downhill because it has been so convenient for my family on more than one occasion. But I think that I will be looking for a different urgent care option in the future.

I was glad at how quick and easy everything was. I originally went to a cvs minute clinic that took forever when finally the doc told me they couldn’t even treat what I had going on. Then I came here and was in and out in 45 min for swelling to my face and a major poison ivy outbreak. I would definitely come back for something that was simple and you know what you need treated!

I could not recommend this clinic. Dr. Roth says nothing, just waits for you to tell him what you think you need. Could not have been more unimpressed. He wasnt even going to check my throat or ears until I ask him to even though I went in telling him how sore my throat was and how congested I was.

My experience at the Alpharetta-​Johns Creek location of WellStreet Urgent Care was excellent. I agree that I arrived at the facility at a good time: about 2:30 on a Thursday afternoon. After completing paperwork (won’t it be nice when Georgia gets computerized medical records so that information easily can be transferred from one location to another) there was almost no wait to see a medical professional. Everyone I encountered was both courteous and knowledgeable. The x-​rays of my hand were done quickly. My broken finger was placed in a splint and wrapped and I was on my way. The entire visit to this urgent care center probably was less than 30 minutes.

Very disappointed. Went in today for food poisoning and they prescribed something strictly for nausea and that’s all. I rated the pain a seven but that wasn’t acknowledged. The doctor Robert Nelson is obviously either lazy or too busy or maybe too incompetence to simply fulfill his duty of helping patients. I’m currently in major pain, gasping for air every now and then. The medicine prescribed was bs. And we will never return to wellstreet again. Huge waste of money.
