Prime rib sandwich was good. Shepherds pie was average. Good beer selection and service was spot on. Nice local place.

Bonnie Y. Our meals tonight were awesome. Ahi tuna app & seaweed salad, just perfect. Side salads plentiful & $ 2.25! Steak and meatloaf delicious & cooked to order. Our waitress was right on top of everything. Yes, it’s buzzing & hopping & local, that’s what Irish pubs are supposed to be!

Small place kind of loud on the weekends. If you want a more laid back type bar this is your spot in jim Thorpe. Multiple TVs for football. I would recommend it

Just had the most wonderful french onion soup ever especially delicious on a chilly Nov. night. We’ve had consistently good food here and great service.

I described to my wife that coming here was similar to being in a bingo hall… We were sat literally 3 feet from the bathrooms. The foot traffic, odors and the people seated around us was a bummer. We ordered 2 buds and cheese fries(they don’t sell mozzarella fries) it’s the orange can stuff on top of still frozen fries — choked a couple fries down chugged our beers and moved onto the next bar as quickly as possible. The place was packed so I guess they’re doing something right.

I always regret coming here. We went in last night and there was a band playing. It was too loud to hold a conversation and all the songs sounded alike. The beer I had tasted skunky, I don’t think they clean thier taps. My husband had a cocktail and it came in a comically small glass. The bartender seemed to be paying a lot of attention to the regulars. Save your hard earned money and go to one of the other great establishments in town

Jim Thorpe is such a cool place to visit, with so many great little restaurants. Please don’t waste your time on this one… go walk around some of the side streets or check the Unilocal reviews of others places. I’ve never given a restaurant a 1-star rating, but this one definitely deserves it. We had a similar experience to the one reviewer where our table was somehow given away to a party that came in after us. Everyone makes mistakes… it’s not the mistakes that caused this rating but rather the staff’s response. Our hostess seemed almost annoyed that we still wanted to be seated; I guess because it messed up her table planning, and we weren’t even offered an apology. Our sever was anything but pleasant and responded, «Yeah, it’s really busy today» when we mentioned how our table was given to another party(it was full but not particularly busy). Again, no apology nor perhaps a comp’d drink or appetizer. We asked for our salad dressing on the side; our salads came out drenched. Got the unspoken attitude when we asked for replacements. When our food was finally served, it was fair, at best. Hardly better than bar food. I asked for my steak done medium; there was more pink inside a chocolate brownie. My date’s Sheppard pie was cold inside. At that point, we just finished our meal and just wanted to escape this train-wreck of a restaurant.

One star is far too high for this restaurant. I recently visited during Fall Festival in Jim Thorpe. We placed our name on the list and were told 20 minutes, 40 minutes later I check with the hostess to find out where we were. She relied that she had already seated us. Obviously she had not. She had not called our name, yet crossed the name off anyway. Then blamed us for not being available when she called. The owner then became involved and again the customer was blamed for the hostess’s mistake. We were then further told we could not have the next table available they would only seat 4 people there. The owner and hostess were extremely rude, and never offered an apology for their mistake. We left without eating after having waited 40 minutes. Would definitely advise going to one of the other local restaurants.

We are pretty outdoorsy so make a stop here after biking or rafting excursions. And every year I forget how much I dislike this place. I’m going to list their list of stupid, nickel and diming attitude, inane rules and regulations: 1. they will not split checks. they will not even put the bill on two different credit cards unless«it is evenly split». which for a large party is a HUGE pain in the butt. what’s the difference between swiping one or three cards? 2. EVERYTHING on their menu is a la carte. ordering wings and want blue cheese? It’s an extra .50. celery? extra .50. or want lettuce or onion or tomato on your burger? yup. you guessed it… an extra .50PER item. so totally laughable. Why not just just charge $ 10 instead of nickel and diming the customer. 3. they would not seat our party together. thre were 12 of us… the place was fairly empty and they made such a big fuss and gave us every excuse int he book on why they couldnt push a few tables together. In the end– they seated us together but it took ten minutes of goign back and forth before they would. 4. their food is ok at best. not great. not good. just okay. onbiously no one there has heard of accommodating the customer or the saying«the customer is always right». Avoid this place and go to one of the smaller places a little further in Jim THorpe.

Odd place. They have a big deck outside but it’s closed at night… When most people go to a bar… We walked in around 10:30 and there was a sign that said to wait for the Jostes for a table. We waited and nothing. So we left to go to the other bar up the street and it was too busy, standing room only. So we figured we’d come back to Molly Maguires and ask for a table. We asked what I believe was the manager or owner if we could sit at a table. He explained that food service was over, which was fine because we came for a few drinks and explained that. He gave us a funny look and led us to the dining room. We sat down and got up to go to the bar to get a drink, the 2 stars are for the decent beer selection. Price for the beer was decent too. When we sat back down I put my e-cig on the table to take it out of my pocket so it wouldn’t leak. The owner/mgr immediately came over and said I couldn’t use it and to put it away. No problem I saw the multiple signs saying not to use them. He stood there looking at me until I had my wife put it in her purse. I recently moved to Jim Thorpe and see how much business these guys do during the day and the entertainment they have. So when we had guests from out of state I thought to bring them here. It was a very awkward experience to say the least. It’s worth leaving town to get a drink instead of getting weird looks when you want to relax and sit down to enjoy yourself.

Waitress could care less about us and had a poor attitude. The old bay shrimp was pretty bad. The back deck was very hot. I believe it’s due to all the AC units on the back of the building blowing hot air out onto the deck area. Good for drinks, not for food

First the owner rudely pushed in front of us. You would think a town that seems to cater to tourists would be more gracious to their livelihood ? It gets better. We overheard him in his Irish accent saying to who seemed to be his wife/girlfriend that he can’t stand all these«dumb yanks»!! My suggestion is if you want a nice experience in JT, go to an establishment that at least appreciates your hard earned money.

As to be expected from this chain, service and food were adequate. Beer selection included one local brewery feature. Outdoor seating and convenient location were a plus.

So was a last minute idea to have dinner here. When parking the lights of Jim Thorpe on the cold winter night was awesome. Went into the door while 15 degrees outside. Was a packed bar. Was able to get sitting in the back dining room. Fast service and the drinks were just as fast. Had the crab dip and chips to start with, excellent! Salads were ok. For dinner she had the ravioli and I had the fish and chips. Both very good. Will be back and anxious to try in the summer season

I really don’t understand why this place doesn’t have more stars. The food and service are always good and it’s reasonably priced. We’ve been here several times. I know people complain about waiting to be seated but I don’t understand what they expect. It’s located in a small tourist town with few restaurants, you’re going to have to wait.

Not sure why this place has such bad reviews. I thought the food was very good and the service good too. The atmosphere was also very homey. Good place to try out if you are looking for good pub food.

I checked this place out through Unilocal and the two things i wanted shrimp and black and blue burger was not on the menu. There were pictures of the food, what gives. They must have changed the menu. So i got the pastrami sandwich,(perogies and wings(apps). The food was served on plastic plates kinda like a cafeteria, different. The sandwich and wings were good. The perogies were good but i had better. Nice facility right in the middle of town.

Stopped in for a small lunch with my husband and our dog, while vacationing in the area. We were unsure if they would serve us w/the dog and when I went to go into porch to ask while my husband and the dog waited — a staff member quickly welcomed us and explained the dog was welcome at the sidewalk seating. Lunch was delicious! We had chicken fingers and chili and they accommodated the dog with a hamburger, hold the bun and no seasoning. Staff was all very helpful and were quick to see what we needed. Jim Thorpe was a great place to visit with the dog, and lunch was delicious!

We were limited in options for dining out when we came as it was off season. Stopped in here for lunch and got fried calamari which was passable and a couple of burgers which they cooked to order and were decent. Beer list was pretty good and the bartender was attentive.
