Description

Specialties

Jim Thorpe, PA is a scenic paradise nestled between three mountains in northeastern Pennsylvania. An oasis of history perfectly preserved, the architecture of the Village is purely Victorian. Perched high atop Packer Hill, the Harry Packer Mansion sits like a sentinel overlooking the town. The mansion’s impressive façade could have been taken from a gothic novel, this is only fitting for the Mansion used as the model for Disney World’s Haunted Mansion! The interior however is anything but spooky. Fifteen foot ceilings, marble fireplaces and gilded mirrors of the parlors reflect the elegance of the Victorian Age. The guest accommodations in the mansion and the adjoining Carriage House are furnished with period antiques, luxurious fabrics, and carefully selected artwork. In addition to offering Bed and Breakfast accommodations the Mansion also hosts Murder Mystery Weekends and special events. The mansion also houses Libations Lounge which offers a fine selection of beer, wine & spirits.

History

Established in 1983.

The Harry Packer Mansion was built in 1874 by Asa Packer as a wedding gift for his son. In 1983 it was purchased by Pat and Bob Handwerk. It has undergone constant renovation over the past 27 years. It is currently an Inn and it also houses Libations Lounge where we serve a fine selection of beer, wine and spirits. All of the rooms have queen-sized beds and private baths.
