Specialties
Rooftop dining provides a sophisticated cosmopolitan atmosphere floating among the breathtaking views of Manhattan and downtown Jersey City. Or indulge in the second floor dining room under candlelight and artwork covered walls (many which are for sale). The downstairs bar has 12 beers on draft including Chimay and Dogfish 90 minute IPA.
A seasonally inspired menu offers an exotic array of cuisine (which always includes the infamous and addicting Iron Monkey Mac and Cheese).
History
Established in 1996.
Since 1996, the Iron Monkey Restaurant & Bar has provided a lively atmosphere and quality cuisine to Jersey City’s downtown financial district. The idea originated from owner, Steve McIntyre’s spiritual trip to China in 1986. While in meditation, McIntyre was awakened with the urge to return to the U.S. and open a successful restaurant and bar. He was sure this was his fate, and a message sent from God. But when his focus came back to reality, he realized he was not praying to God, but rather a 6-foot tall iron statue of a monkey.
