Amazing BYOB vegetarian restaurant. Every dish artistically presented with fabulous flavor. Rivals Vedge in center city. A great suburban addition. A must for anyone who likes vegan — vegetarian. Chef Tim does a great job!!!

Cute, small space. It was pretty empty with one other table of two.
The server was abrupt and intense and had weird timing. He told us what the brunch desserts were either right before we got our plates or before we even picked up our forks after we got our plates.
The food: The biscuits and gravy were tiny and looked unappetizing, like gravy looks like literal barf and killed the presentation but it tasted good. Every component of the benedict that my husband got was totally disgusting. The english muffin tasted like I bit into fake, plastic groceries at the Please Touch Museum. We did not order gluten free and it wasn’t indicated that this was the default bread in the menu. The veggie patty-​like thing could have been replaced by a trader joes veggie burger and at least I would have eaten it instead of pushing it back over to my husband.
Basically I left hungry after seeing the «dessert» that was delivered to the other table and hearing how hard it was for them to cut through this blueberry scone with a butter knife. Rocks with powdered sugar on them.
We asked for the check and the server yoinked it up within a minute, not because he was a jerk but because it was just another off thing with regards to timing and overall feeling of a 2-​bit operation.
$ 31 total. I’m starting to think diners (as limited as they are with vegan selections) are the way to go. Plain home fries with salt ‘n pepper would have won over the food taste and presentation at Flora and would have been ¹⁄₂₀^th of the cost.

Awesome little nook. My wife and I have been there 3 times, once with my parents as well. Food has always been excellent.
It’s a bit pricey given the limited menu and portion sizes. So it’s great for an occasional quirky date night.

One of the best accidental stumbles hubby and I made. The food, service and ambience were fantastic. The food is delicious, not processed and made with love smiles and creativity. Looking forward to taking a few of our friends who are not vegan. The dishes are creative encompassing flavor and more flavor.

First Course-​Black eyed pea fritters-​a little bland
Lentil Soup-​extremely salty
Second Course-​Pan seared brussels-​wonderfully cooked, delicious flavors.
Broccolini-​ice cold & too salty
Third Course-​Eggplant Steak over parsnip mash. Hearty, tasty dish.
Spicy Cauliflower & Lemon thyme waffles. Cauliflower was vey good with a nice amount of heat. Waffles were again, cold. Combination was a little weird.
Fourth Course-​Apple Strudel w/​rum raisin ice cream. Nice, boozy dish.
Carrot cake w/​toasted walnut butter cream. Butter cream very good but cake very bland & oddly, not very carrot-​y.

We just enjoyed our second dinner at Flora’s. Four courses for $ 40 is value beyond compare. If you have a pallet for fine flavors, unique entries prepared to perfection, you need to give this restaurant a chance. Some friends have been hesitant because it’s vegan. Their mistake. Lynn and I both felt the pan seared Brussels Sprouts with Southern Style Pot Liquor reduction were the best we have ever enjoyed. We also felt the Pumpkin Pie & Toasted Pumpkin See Brittle was a best ever. This never happens, two of the best ever in a single meal. This is a very small venue so reservation needed. This establishment is owner operated. Two young Chiefs work in a tiny kitchen providing some of the finest food anywhere. I suggest they put their names on the menu, they deserve recognition.

Flora is a 16-​seat vegan BYO. For my birthday, my husband surprised me by reserving the whole restaurant and filling it with friends and family. Since we had so many people, they just brought us everything on the Fall menu (this was in October) to share.
The food was delicious! Everything they served for the first course was really good, but the butternut squash bisque and the mushroom crostini really stood out. The bisque had a deep flavor without being too sweet. The bread they served while we waited was excellent too.
The second course was good, but not as amazing as the first course. The Brussels sprouts were the best.
Everything in the third course was amazing too. The Shepherd pie was earth and tasty. The eggplant steak was amazing, really moist and tender and not at all what I expected.
The dessert was a bit disappointing and I can’t really recommend any of the items we had.
The one staff member there was very nice and the atmosphere seemed low-​key and romantic. Hard to judge since they had pushed all the tables together since we were a single party.

Cute little (read– 16 seats little) Plant Based Vegan GEM in Jenkintown. Even my meat loving company found himself eating every morsel of the three course meal.

Prefixed menu and cute décor. The restaurant is very small so it wouldn’t be good for big parties unless the whole venue is rented out. When I went there, there was only one other couple there but I would recommend making reservations just in case. The food is excellent and the plates come out quickly. Once my first plate was cleared my next plate came out within minutes.

Really cute little space out in the burbs, very kind and attentive service, and the food was lovely. I was there with a group of eight rad vegan friends, and we enjoyed the 4-​course prix fixe menu on a Saturday night.
It was the summer menu and some courses were better than others. I didn’t love the Celery Root Arancini with Brussels Sprout Pesto as much as I’d wanted to, but with the Pan-​Seared Potato Dumplings with Pea Purée, Sauteed Mushrooms & Pearl Onions, I wanted to lick the plate. And the Jerk Spiced Royal Trumpet Mushrooms over Basmati Rice & Black-​Eyed Peas with a Red Pepper Purée – I could have eaten a whole other serving of those.
The one thing that made me want to come to Flora in the first place was, of course, a dessert. The Deconstructed S’more with a Chocolate Brownie, Graham Cracker Ice Cream & Burnt Marshmallow. I’d seen pics of it all over facebook and had to have it. I loved it, but to be honest, I didn’t love it as much as I loved the idea of it.
Overall, Flora was a very good experience, I’d go there again if I’m ever in Jenkintown, and I highly recommend it to vegans in the burbs who might not want to come into the city.

This place is legit. The menu, interior is all on point. A must for any herbbies in the area.

Nice cozy byob vegan place. The restaurant had a very cute décor.
Pre fix menu with decent size portions. The pear and fennel gazpacho was the perfect pair. The root veg ravioli was served with this delicious onion broth. The stuff eggplant was seasoned well and came with this herb sauce.
Onto my favorite part, the brownie. Do yourself a favor and do the 4 course meal so you can order the brownie. It was this cake like chocolate heaven, served with strawberry sorbet.

I’m all about the meat, but if I had to ever give it up, I’d go broke eating here as often as I could because I enjoyed my meal here so much and I apologize for not writing this review much earlier when I ate here prior to the Fab Faux concert at the Keswick (which is only a short 5 minute drive away).
I came here with my wife and two guests, one of whom is a vegetarian so I’m always game to try a new place so they can enjoy themselves, too.
Our Spring Menu had these choices and between the four of us we had them all (you get your choice within each for $ 35 or with dessert $ 40):

As the song goes, «Everything is awesome!» But the absolute best thing I’ve had in a long time was those Country Fried Hen of the Woods mushrooms with the grits and okra. I could eat that for life and be very happy.
Yes, it’s a very small place and reservations are necessary. Don’t think you’ll be getting matched tables, linens, utensils, or anything. It’s also BYOB.
The server advised that the menu does change seasonally, but also more often depending on what’s fresh when the chef goes out.
Please go visit Flora and have a wonderful time. As I said before it’s only about 5 minutes from the Keswick, so consider Flora before the show!

I would like to start this review with some background that while I am firmly omnivorous I was a vegetarian for many years and lived with a vegan for several so I am neither unfamiliar with or opposed to vegan food. I also went with a friend who is actually a vegan, to get both sides of the story on the cuisine here.
I felt like the $ 35/​$ 40 price was slightly pricey but for a prix fixe menu at a specialty restaurant not entirely unreasonable, and they are also cash only. I made a reservation which was definitely necessary, and they were extremely accommodating when I actually ended up having to change it twice. Parking is available in the municipal lot behind the building for $ 0.25/hr and I didn’t have trouble finding a spot.
The décor is homey and welcoming but not super fancy or romantic and it is BYOB.
Honestly I think my friend and I both walked away feeling disappointed. Almost all of the reviews I’ve seen on Unilocal so far are I guess for the Winter or Fall menu and the pictures and descriptions of all of those (potato leek soup, artichoke soup, pepper pot, fried hen of the woods mushrooms, tamale, beignets, etc.) seem absolutely delicious. I would guess what we had would be the Spring menu, and neither of us really cared for most of the options. We got two things in each category and shared for a variety of choices.
1^st Course
— Smoked Corn Soup with Seasonal Garnish: 1/​5, this is actually a cold, clear soup that basically tastes like you’re eating liquid smoke. Our least favorite of the meal.
— Seasonal Salad with Pickled Vegetables and Peanut Purée: 2/​5, a relatively measly salad with mostly unidentifiable purees. We did like the peanut purée they served on the side and just ate that plain off of spoons.
2^nd Course
— Pan-​Seared Potato Dumplings & Pea Purée: ³⁄₅. I enjoyed the potato dumplings and the pea purée they are served in was fine. I did not enjoy the inclusion of edamame but that’s just my tastes.
— Parsnip Pasta with Maitake Mushrooms and Peppercorn Sauce: ³⁄₅. The parsnip pasta was neither bad nor good, kind of just there. The mushrooms were TO DIE FOR but you get four bites of those :(Just serve a bowl of the mushrooms and it’d be ⁵⁄₅.
3^rd Course
— Seasonal Stew with Mushrooms, Carrots, Potatoes & Pearl Onions: ⁴⁄₅. This seemed more of a soup than a stew to me, you do get large chunks of the vegetables but it’s in a relatively thin soup base. Quite good, but it felt like something we could easily make at home and be as satisfied with.
— Royal Trumpet Mushrooms with Black-​Eyed Peas & Red Pepper Purée: ³⁄₅. We’re both huge mushroom lovers and these were just okay, rather bland.
Dessert (Even though we ended up both getting the four course option, they were perfectly willing to let just one person get the four courses and split the dessert, which I really appreciated.)
— deconstructed banana split: ⁵⁄₅. Three different sorbets, homemade whipped «cream,» bananas, chocolate sauce. Just awesomeness.
— brownie with coconut sorbet and chocolate sauce: ⁵⁄₅. Never really found the chocolate sauce, but the coconut sorbet was magical and the brownie tasted like a ghiradelli confection, didn’t have that particular vegan-​dessert texture.
The Takeaway:
I would go back, but I would scrutinize the menu carefully before doing so. Nothing really jumped out at me on the list before I went but I was so taken with last season’s menu I assumed anything would be good and came away disappointed. The dishes seemed lacking in cohesion, were rather bland, and most felt like something I could do as well or better at home (and I am by no means an at-​home gourmand). The desserts were fantastic and easily the highlight of the meal and the customer service was impeccable. It was a fun experience, but it hasn’t become a new favorite.

This is my favorite vegan restaurant in the entire world.
That fried hen of the woods.
Them beignets.
That potato leek soup.
It was a blurry, hazy, non-​animal-​product-​filled, magical meal.

Bright warm environment with a capacity of about 15 making it very special. Our server was very helpful and friendly. There was three of us so we got everything on the menu and all shared. Portions were not large but for a four course meal it made sense. I left feeling full, satisfied and comfortable. They change their menu every season and sometimes during the season. I am looking forward to their spring menu. I can’t wait to go back!

A fascinating part of this restaurant is that it was started by non-​vegans, simply to fill a need. They felt it would be a successful business, and it is. Flora is full all the time as well as small (18 seats, 8 tables max) so be sure to call ahead for a reservation. BYOB.
The menu changes each season. 3 courses for $ 35 per person, $ 40 for four. We had three and were very full. So fun to switch plates and try a variety of dishes.
At first the portions won’t seem large, but it’s all fiber being purely plant-​based food, so you become full without overconsuming. This is how we are meant to eat, high in nutrients, low in filler.
Someone here has access to amazing exotic mushrooms, because they were heavily featured on the winter menu. The amuse bouche (complimentary bite-​sized hors d’œuvre) was something called burdock which we had never heard of. Us: «Bird dog? Can you spell that?» We heard other tables asking the same question.
Look up at the minimalist chandelier. There is a public parking lot behind the street; bring quarters.

I’m not a veggie but had a great meal here recently. Nice small space right in downtown Jenkintown — nice not to be in a strip mall for a change. Don’t think any of us had any complaints about the food. Made with high quality ingredients and great preparation. Can get the 3 or 4 course dinner. It’s BYOB which for me is a big plus and a $ saver.
Only downside is that we had a large group next to us in a very small space, so a bit loud. But not a big deal overall.

I visited here recently on a trip home. I’m not really a vegetarian or anything, but I went with a friend who talked me into it… it’s only a few minutes from home, so I figured I’d give it a shot. Since they’re pretty new and lacking in the review department I did a little research beforehand, found an article on
that said apparently they source all of their ingredients locally, which I definitely found to be worth a shot since you don’t really see that much anymore.
The dining room is fairly small but well put-​together, very warm and inviting. It feels like you’re eating in someone’s home dining room, very comfortable. As for the menu: the food is served from a small menu in the form of courses, either 3 or 4 if you’d like dessert. I think there were a few things to choose from for each course, maybe 4 or 5 things to pick from for each course. Also, I found out after we were seated that it’s BYOB, so next time I’ll be sure to bring a fine bottle of Fireball to go with dinner.
I have to say, I was highly impressed by the food. I started the first course with the fresh salad and house vinaigrette, it was a great start. Next came the tamales with homemade salsa… I’m a sucker for Mexican food, and they were outstanding.
For the third course I went with the artichokes and broccoli rabe… again, awesome. Great portion sizes, I have no idea how I had room for dessert but I am glad I sprung the extra few bucks. We both got the bananas foster with coconut sorbet, fanfuckingtastic finish to the meal. A strange mix of tastes throughout that complimented each other well.
I left that place stuffed and satisfied. Will definitely be back next time I’m in the area, if nothing more than the dessert. Also, make sure you bring cash, they don’t take card.
