History

Established in 1973.

SPECTRUM has been in various aspects of the Imaging business since its

inseption in 1973. We serve both the business and consumer market. Over

the years we have added many different services and products. Our aim is to

please our customers and create a competitive product and value.

Meet the Business Owner

Moody B.

Business Owner

Moody Bandelly came to the United States in 1972, from Tanzania at a young age of 18. There he was running a photo studio/​lab business with his family.

He came to New York with $ 200 in his pocket, a Hasselblad camera and a dream! He worked in a Manhattan studio for six short months, where he set up a color lab for his employers. The business really started to take off with an in house color lab, and Moody was offered an equal partnership.

Having the ambition of starting his own business, Moody turned down this offer. Saving every penny that he could from his pay, plus doing shoots on his own as a weekend warrior, he was actually able to start his own business in

less than a year. In 1973 his own photo studio at the age of 19, Photonika Inc on 74^th street in Jackson Heights, Queens. Working very hard 7 days a week, in 2 short years started his own photo lab in Richmond Hill, Spectrum Color Labs, in 1975. Four other stores were started along the way. And many many more products and services added
