Optometrists aren’t like dentists. You can’t just make an appointment with the first ad you see in the Yellow Pages or contact 1−800-OPTICAL with the hope that THEY know what’s best for YOU. After all, if a dentist screws up your teeth you can just get them caped or buy some dentures. But, if a doctor messes up your eyes well… it’s the ²⁰⁄₂₀ vision of hindsight that’s going to get you through the rest of your life.
So, when a friend of mine recommended I go to Dr. Mascioli for an eye exam and contacts, I was skeptical. However, I had no reason to fear. Dr. Mascioli has been practicing for over 31 years. He is a contact specialist who has all of the latest gadgets and techniques that will help me visualize a bright future. Plus, his practice is an independent business that is family owned and operated, no heartless big corporation chains here! It’s just friendly people who care about you as if you were one of their very own. Check out the website at
. You will see that they offer same day service at a reasonable price with hours that are convenient for even the busiest person. Granted, Jamaica, NY, may be too far for the average Manhattanite, but I would argue to anyone that M&L Optical’s fast, friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable staff is well worth the trip. It feels really good to support a local business that has been in the family for generations. Service was friendly and fast, and there were a lot of stylish frames for me to choose from. The doctor also personally helped me to better understand my vision insurance, which I wasn’t even sure exactly how it worked and helped me get the beast deal for what I was eligible for.

This is, by far, was the worst business I have ever dealt with. The so-​called doctor not only robbed me but then lied to my face. I went in for specialized contacts. I drove an hour just to see him specifically. He acted like a used car salesman from the minute I walked in. «Tooting his own horn», as he put it. After being fitted for contacts, he tried to bargain with me for the price. Then told me to come back the following Tuesday, which I did. Not to my surprise, my contacts where not in. When I asked for my money back, he refused. Then proceeded to curse at me & told me to get the f out. Very professional. Stay away, stay far away.
