My wife and I are so happy to have this store in our neighborhood. Great selection of cool frames, and the folks who work here are incredibly helpful. They will order extra frames so you can check them out, they are so patient with fittings, they are nice to kids — it is really such a great place. Highly recommended!

The eye doctor there is amazing!

Walked in here after visiting two other shops for new glasses. They are super friendly and helpful. Ronnie has an amazing eye for what works on your face, no comparison to the advice I got elsewhere. The selection is really good and the prices in line with other optical shops.
I brought my husband in to give input on my final frame selection and Ronnie fitted him with an awesome new pair of glasses too. (Got to get it done before the end of the year for insurance!) He also got his eye exam there which was great, and right on schedule even on a busy Saturday.

Ronnie took great care of me yesterday! Choosing glasses isn’t a task I enjoy, but he was honest, personable and had me laughing over silly options. I’ll definitely return in the future.

I’ve gone here for a couple of years and regret I haven’t rated them sooner. They have been incredibly helpful — easy to communicate with — have great designs — and are just really nice people. Sharon made a special trip for me to make sure my glasses were available to me before the weekend. Great customer service, great people to work with.

This is the best optical store around. I called them because I thought I had gotten my contact stuck in my eye. I’m not a client there and they understood how upset I was and they told me to come down and they would help me. They looked to make sure the contact wasn’t still in my eye and helped me to put eye drops in my eye to help with the irritation. They didn’t even charge me! I was so thankful for all their help. I’m definitely going there for my next eye exam and set of glasses.

A year and a half ago I bought my glasses here after looking at what felt like every store in the Boston area. I went in twice and ended up purchasing a great pair on the second trip. The one on one service was amazing and I really appreciated the honest opinions. I ended up with a very versatile pair of glasses that have served me well. It was a brand of frames that I hadn’t seen anywhere else and fit every criteria I was looking for. The associates were very understanding that this was a major expense for me and helped me weigh the pros and cons.
I’ve had to have the glasses serviced a few times since then and Optical Designs have been understanding and very quick to fix things. I highly recommend them!

I stopped by this place about a year and a half ago in a bit of an emergency. My glasses broke as I was driving on my way to work and it happened to be 2 minutes away. Sharron was a doll! She fixed my glasses at no cost and I promised to get my next pair at this establishment.
I returned months later with my mom, they have a huge selection to choose from. My first choice was very trendy but I could not take the fashion plunge, comfort over fashion always prevails. I returned them thinking; a small business will not be as accommodating with a returned item. I thought I would be stuck with them.
To my surprise, Ronnie (the owner) and Sharron were super accommodating and spent a lot of time and energy trying to help me find the right fit. So much so, they went above and beyond and allowed me to take several pairs home to try on and decide the right fit.
I returned without a final choice. I was reluctant to accept the fact that the one pair I liked, originally picked out by my mom and Ronnie during my first visit, was the best fit.
After two weeks and several visits, I finally got a fabulous pair and additional lenses for my sunglasses. I get compliments all the time!
Their customer service is exceptional! Sharron is amazing; she was very patient and worked with me throughout the process.
I sent my roommate and she was very happy with their service.
They’ve got a lifetime client, whether they like it or not!
I recommend all of my friends and family to go to Optical Designs!

I’ve bought glasses here before, and really liked the one-​on-​one customer service I received when selecting glasses/​frames. They allowed me to take my time, and were not in a high-​pressure sale mode at all, just really nice and casual. When I got my glasses they were helpful figuring out the insurance stuff.
Now, the reason they really earned their fifth star is this: I recently went into their store for an optometry appointment with the optician there. While I was waiting for the appointment I became very lightheaded and dizzy. I thought I was going to pass out (I hadn’t had lunch, and had an oncoming migraine). I didn’t realize what was going on at the time but had enough energy in me to ask for their help to lie down or something. They offered me a comfortable chair, brought me some water and a snack to bring my blood sugar back up. They were really nice and helpful in a random moment of weakness where I felt rather helpless.
Oh and by the way, they have always been really good natured about providing support to the local public school in their neighborhood for fundraising support. Much appreciated!

It was time I got my prescription filled and new frames… this is always a huge expense for me, so I take my time and make sure it is the right place and the proper care etc.
There was no pressure on me to get new frames when I visited and let me try on a million different types with my kiddies in tow, picking out frames for me to try. They were respectful to me and my family and totally professional.
I chose new frames, they helped me with the fitting and and even cut the price for me, it was expensive with everything in total.
I recently lost one of the plastic nose pieces and they stayed open late for me to pick up a new one. customer service is really great.
The only thing is the price… like, why do frames have to cost so bloody much???

My partner and I both went in to browse for glasses a few days after Christmas. We didn’t intend on selecting glasses that day, but with the vast selection and incredible service from Ronnie, we both found glasses we loved and placed orders right away.
Ronnie was extremely helpful in helping us find frames that suited our needs and style. He was very knowledgeable and we shared a few good laughs as we each narrowed down our selection to the final pair (mostly because of my indecision).
Both of our glasses were ready the next day! Unheard of!
The prices are what you would expect for designer frames and lens that can be made the next day. But for the selection, personalized experience and outstanding service, it’s worth it!
By far the best eye glass shopping experience we have both ever had.

I will never again give this place my business! This was the most frustrating experience with an optical ever. And I’ve been wearing glasses since elementary school.
The main problem — really the only problem — with this place, is the employees’ total disregard for simple communication. I’ve only had to deal with these people a handful of times, and each time they have failed to communicate with me. Here’s what happened:
1. I make my initial appointment, and the woman on the phone says they’ll call to remind me of my appointment. They never called. This wasn’t egregious, as I’m an adult who marks things in her own calendar. But don’t say you’re going to do something that you’re not going to do.
2. I get my eyes checked, and the doctor orders a trial pair. The folks at the desk tell me they’ll call when they’re in. A week goes by. Having gone through this process many times before, I knew it was taking too long, so I call. The woman on the phone tells me the trials are there, and that she doesn’t know why nobody called me. I pick the trials up, and they tell me to let them know if they’re OK so I can order a supply.
3. I go in later to tell them the contacts are fine, and that I’d like my prescription so I can shop around for a good price. The guy at the desk hands me my glasses prescription and my contacts prescription.
4. When I realized it was just easier to order contacts from this place, I went in. They all looked at me like I was crazy when I told them I was given a prescription for contacts. They said I was supposed to have gone in for a followup with the doctor. No one ever bothered to tell me this! And I want to know how that guy gave me my prescription when I hadn’t gone in for a followup!
5. I schedule a followup, and everything’s fine, even though the doctor has NO idea why/​how a prescription was given to me before. I order contacts from them, and they tell me it will be three days and to expect a call. I NEVER GOT A CALL. I call them, and they say my contacts are on back order and that they don’t know why no one ever called me. I still don’t have my contacts. Ugh.
To avoid this frustration, go to any other place that actually values their customer’s time!

In response to this review, I received a call from the owner, who expressed his deepest apologies for my experience. He even offered to give me a couple of boxes of lenses at no cost, and he personally called to notify me when they arrived at the store. I was very surprised at his gesture, and I very much appreciate the length he went to to contact me. This didn’t fix what happened, but I really appreciated it.

I just moved to the area and I needed a new pair of glasses. After yoga class I randomly walked into optical designs and they had some great stylish frames. I have been looking around for frames the last year and everything I saw prior to optical designs selection were standard. I liked them so much that I picked out two frames. The salespeople were very nice and in particular Sharon helped me out the 2X I was there and was very nice and honest about how the frames looked. My health insurance was not accepted there but I would definitely not let that stop you from checking the place out the owner was very helpful with making this sale.

I picked up a groupon to this place a couple months ago and came around to trying it out. The frames were pretty expensive, but the service was excellent. They were helpful and not too pushy, and really helped me pick out a nice pair of glasses.
the lenses came it pretty quickly, too. It was all ready for pick up after just a weekend. Couldn’t have been happier
