Nordic Village Resort

Let me start by saying that I’ve been coming to Nordic village for 15 years. I have always enjoyed my stay here, it’s quiet, the grounds are well maintained and it’s located centrally to the activities I enjoy doing.
That being said, it’s starting to look rundown. The unit we stayed in needed some TLC.
Hanging blinds on sliders had missing pieces so even when closed there was a 12″ gap. Arm chairs were worn through. Caulk around the top of the shower unit upstairs was black (I’m not sure if it was mold, or if it was just old).
There was no fitted sheet on our bed, just a top sheet that kept slipping down so you would find yourself sleeping on just the mattress pad… Eww!
I could go on, but I don’t want to nit pick, and you get the idea.

This is a great place to stay for a family vacation or a weekend get away. Three pools, one inside, two outside. One of them outside is only 3−31÷2 feet deep for the kids, the other is 4 – 7 feet deep. There is also a fourth pool near the gym that is for 18+. There is a fire every night where you can make s’mores and there is usually some entertainment during the week during the summer at night for the kids. Nordic Village is about two minutes away from Story Land and about 45 minutes from Santa’s Village.

We love this place. We have had both a basement condo and a two floor condo. We also have three small children ages 5,3 and one year old
Basement condo:
Its small but perfect for two adults and 1 child (small child)
The problem is — no kitchen and its small.
For one night this is a great place and if you don’t have a lot of children it’s perfect for just adults.
The other problem is if there is someone upstairs: its loud! The condos are not insulated well. Sounds like a heard of elephants above you.
Its safe — no stairs etc.
The two floor condo:
I loved it. We stayed in this unit because we had three kids and we really need the extra space with a full kitchen and the extra bedroom. Its way more than you would ever need for two people but we loved it with our three small children. The only problem is there are stairs!!! I’m not sure if all these units are built like this but the one we were and had stairs we had a staircase going up to the unit and then one to go up to our bedroom. We had a crawler and a toddler and i had to run to walmart to get a gate! I called the front desk to ask if they had gates and they don’t. I find that to be a little bit frustrating because they should have amenities for people with children. I also need to go look on the website to see if they tell you that you should bring a gate if you have children because if they don’t they should.
We also slept above them which i didnt love so i also bought a baby monitor at walmart.
The kitchen was really useful we had a full fridge, a full sink, dishwasher washing machine. The only thing is they don’t have great coffee mugs and so you get 3 ounces of coffee in every cup and it was kind of annoying. I would bring my own big coffee mug next time because that’s important to me (hi three kids!) I would also bring travel coffee mug so that when you’re heading out every four minutes you have coffee with you

Go grocery shopping before you get up here. Because the local grocery store although has food is very small and tight quarters to shop
Actually have three pools not two, they have one indoor and two heated outdoor and they are great. They are very crowded after 5 o’clock as Storyland starts to close
Drive to story land is three minutes tops and it’s easy in easy out to get home. That’s why we stay here. The playground is awesome for the kids. The kids also loved the boat down at the pond and swimming in the pools
The units might be a little outdated but we had a flat screen TV, internet, we in a comfy bed and we had a great view and we had a wonderful time!
I tell everyone to stay here because it does have everything you need and it’s a great resort might be a little old might need little updating, but it’s still great!

Great location right near Story Land. No driving through Conway every time you are going somewhere. I think it depends on the owners of each place how well they are maintained. Ours had brand new smart flat screens but totally 80s décor throughout. Very distressed doors and kitchen appliances. Dated bathrooms. No maid/​cleaning service unless you stay three days or more. There is a vintage washer dryer setup in the unit, though. The main gates were never closed or secured in the two days we stayed. Also quite possibly the worst mattress and hat I have ever slept on. Spent the first night on the couch as it was more comfortable than the concrete slab of a mattress I had. Grounds are well kept. Too much of a crap shoot on room quality IMHO.

Have stayed here on and off for 20 years and things have gone from worse to just wow. Ever since new ownership took over a few years ago this is now run like a hotel instead of a resort. Whats the difference you ask? Well a resort cares about its guests more then it cares about profit. A hotel chain on the other hand, only cares about profit vs operating expenses. My family used to rent the Chateus at $ 175-​$ 199 per night. Even in the summer. Now its $ 850+ per night to rent a double. Thats $ 425 – 450 per night, up from $ 199! For what? The service is the same, the place is the same. Only difference is now that its run like a hotel so its more cost effective to them to charge $ 450 a night and have the room be empty 3 days a week instead of charging $ 199 a night and having it booked 7 nights fully. They only care about the profit margin, too bad to because when Robert was the owner, he loved each and every one of his guests. This place has become a joke. My family has switched to homeaway and will not be returning. Have fun running your «Comfort Inn»
BTW you can find PLENTY of gorgeous homes within 1 mile of this place on vacation websites for $ 200-​$ 350 a night.

Our hotel rooms was VERY distressed. They really need to upgrade the bathrooms to make these $ 200/​night hotel rooms. I do feel the prices do not match the quality which leaves you feeling ripped off. The bathroom fixtures are original and very old. Our sink faucet barely worked and the spa tub was loaded with cracks. The tile was cracked and chipped leaving you the worry of cutting your feet. We were placed in a «B» room which is a walk out basement room, yes they stuck us in the basement. seriously??? no windows except the slider out. the glasses in the room were filthy, chunks of gunk on them. the pools were not too bad. Really disappointed for the cost.

My sister, a friend, and myself rented out one of the townhouse the past weekend when we brought the kids to Storyland down the street. We were giving room 94 in Lillehammer and we were lucky enough to receive an updated one! Kitchen countertops were granite and we had a jacuzzi as well. Not only that but it was very clean too so I was really horrified by what other stayers experienced!

This resort is falling apart. Recently stayed at the most expensive part of the resort (The Chateaus) and what a disappointment. The room was covered in carpenter ants during the entire stay, even though maintenance came the first day to spray some of the areas. Room service just left the new clean towels in a bag at the bottom of the stairs, which ended up getting all covered in ants. You pay so much for a room and get so little. The rooms are soooo outdated and the ownership never spends a dime to put anything back into the rooms. Save your money and stay somewhere else!!!

Everything you need is here: perfect for s family vacation. The décor is pretty outdated, but the rooms are exceptionally clean. The pools are lovely, and the events are great for kids.

I stayed here March 4^th to March 8 and totally loved my stay. We had a condo which was fully furnished with two king beds, a washer and dryer, dishwasher whirlpool tub (which I took advantage of) the kitchen was. fully equipped with dishes and cooking pans. The condo’s set on the side of a mountain in Jackson NH. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. The resort offers a game room and indoor/​outdoor pool. They had a skating area for the kids with a nighttime firepit. We had a great time. The resort is about 5 minutes from. N. Conway which has every kind of winter sports along with good restaurants and shoping. I would stay again!

So I guess I should start off by saying that I booked with Expedia and got a pretty good deal considering what I was expecting.
I initially booked the trip with the expectation of a jacuzzi suite, and that’s about it. Obviously a bed would be nice, as would be a shower, but the big ticket item was a jacuzzi.
Upon arriving, the check in building is across the street from the actual resort, but there is a big sign telling you that before you arrive (assuming the resort is on your left.)
Check in was quick and simple. The front desk employee was incredibly friendly, even if she did have a beard. Overall, pleasant experience so far.
Upon arriving at the suite at Oslo, which was located near the top of the resort, the room blew me away. Gas fireplace, clean bathroom, and a private balcony with a beautiful view. I’m not ashamed to admit that not only did I stand outside fully naked while taking in natures beauty, I did so and felt quite safe.
Traveling down the street, my girlfriend and I got some crappy horror movies from the Circle K and returned to our room for a night of champagne and relaxation. We were a little bummed when the DVD player in the room had broken audio outputs, and that it was too late to call the front desk. The fact that no one is on site to assist you after a certain time was a little disappointing, but as a big strong man who can pee standing up all by himself, this wasn’t an issue, as we simply enjoyed the local programming until the issue could be resolved the next day.
Upon calling the resort with the issue, a maintenance employee was soon to arrive and confirmed my prior suspicions of a broken unit. He returned a short while later with a new DVD player and a new auxiliary cable.
Check out took a minute and all that was required was giving back the keys.
My only other issue was the fact that there were bugs. Mostly fruit flies, but the main office was quick to point out that we are very close to a national forest and that we should be on the lookout for wildlife, so having a few bugs in the room, but not bothering us, was not an actual issue.
Overall, I had an amazing experience, and would definitely go back, but for a longer stay so that we could not only enjoy the local attractions and eateries (Kringles had delicious pizza) but also enjoy the amenities the hotel offers. Nightly bonfires and a heated indoor and outdoor pool looked like fun but we did not partake.
Again, a very pleasant experience that I would recommend to everyone.

Amazing views! I remembered this place from when I was younger and remember how much I enjoyed being there. It was just as great as an adult. If you have kids it is on the same road as Story Land!
The price is great for what you get, good location, not more than twenty minutes away from anything. Plus, you are getting pretty much a condo for the price of a hotel.
Bathroom had a jacuzzi tub which is great for sore muscles to just sit in and relax.
The game room area is a little outdated but still fun and clean.
The room we were in had a toaster, mini fridge and a microwave. Also, had a cabinet with a few utensils. Having a balcony was amazing. Could enjoy the view while simply sitting in bed.
Only complaints were that one of our windows did not close but it was cold so there were not too many bugs out this time of year and there was construction going on while we were there and the construction crew was a bit rude but their attitude is not the fault of the village itself. I stayed in the Hellsburg area and enjoyed it very much.

This review is only for the pool area and game room area.
We had rights to the pool and game room area with the cottage we rented.
The place is definitely outdated … but it was immaculately clean. There are 2 pools outside neither being very deep but both heated. There is also a large hot tub outside. Inside there is a large unheated pool that gets a little deeper than the outside pool. None of the pools would be good for laps — if you are looking for that kind of thing. There is also a smaller hot tub inside. There are lawn chairs and tables around outside and some lounge chairs inside. The sauna was broken while we were there.
There also are a couple showers and locker room area.
The game room building has pool tables, foozeball, an area setup like a living room with movies to watch and board games to place. This building is were they do their «bon fires» and have chairs around an indoor fireplace.
Outside the game building there is a cute pond with a path to walk around and 2 boats you can row around it.

BED BUGS!!! BED BUGS!!! Absolutely disgustingly dirty. Had to change rooms twice with two toddlers at 11pm at night. First room reeked of mildew, second room had bed bugs. I put my baby to bed and found bed bugs. A complete joke that they call this the penthouse suite. Carpets were covered in filthy dirty stains. Would never go to this place EVER AGAIN unless I was a drug addict and the streets were full. LOL but you get the point. Gross.

Condos in need of some serious updates unless you love the 80’s. Perfect for two families each with three kids though. The hotel is minutes from Storyland and there’s a great indoor and outdoor pool. One of the outdoor pools is 3.5 feet, perfect for little toddlers! We also enjoyed the nightly bonfires and the $ 6 s’more kit was well worth it. My daughter loved the little row boat you could take for a spin. Overall, i would stay here again if the weather was nice and you were going to be outside most of the time.

We have been coming here for years. Great location for skiing, snowmobiling, dining out etc. Great indoor and outdoor pool, suites are very clean and have everything you need for comfortable stay. I took off one star b/​c the furniture and décor is extremely outdated for such an expensive resort!

We have stayed her 4 – 5 times before this and been pretty happy. However, this unit was not at all impressive. If it was our first time it would be our last for sure… We paid just under $ 400 for 2 nights/​two bedroom. Entering it smelled like onion bagels– Not good. The 2 bathrooms both had a minimum of 3 holes in the walls from towel hooks that pulled outta the wall. Master shower had a grey floor which caused me to shower standing on a towel it looked so dirty. Sofa was older print which would be fine but it was a hard foam square placed on a wooden frame– awful uncomportable. we didn’t sit for long thank goodness. Fridgid weather caused us to avoid the fire although the did have one out each night which looked welcoming.

Call us dumb — but it took my husband & I about 10 minutes to find where you check in at this place. (If you go up the hill through the gate, you’ve gone too far!) Check in is in the building across the street from the actual resort. that is not clear. (minus one star)
Anyway, we finally arrived at 3pm (exactly at check in time) and our room wasn’t ready. In fact several rooms weren’t ready considering the crowded front office. We waited about ten minutes before we were given our keys and sent on our way. We booked our room through
and we were supposed to pay $ 336 total. We ended up paying $ 408 total, due to two different taxes (NH tax & Resort tax). seriously? that wasn’t mentioned anywhere until we checked in. (minus one star).
We made our way all the way up to nearly the top of the hill to «Oslo» where we reserved the «penthouse suite», this suite consists of 1 single room that includes all your regular amenities as well as a king bed, fireplace, a tiny kitchenette and a decent sized bathroom (with a jacuzzi) but the best part of the entire room was the view. (see pics for all). The view along with our very private balcony were worth the price alone.
A few seconds down the road from Oslo is a 21+ pool that you need your key to get into. An ADULT ONLY pool you say??? omg. It was so serene and clean! In an area filled with kids/​families (thank you Story Land, Mini Golf, etc) it was a nice little break from all that noise. (plus one huge star).
All in all we had a good experience, check in could’ve gone smoother but if that’s our only real complaint then we’ll take it. We’ll be back.

This past winter my boyfriend and I spent the weekend at Nordic Village. I used to visit here as a child and absolutely loved it, on a whim I decided to book a couple days and I am so glad I did. Our room was clean and cozy featuring a living room area, large bathroom with jacuzzi tub, washer/​dryer, large bed, & fireplace. It was brutally chilly those couple days but walking from our room down to the little lit up pond area was like your own winter wonderland — such a great little touch.
About half way up the mountain is a fitness center with an outdoor heated hot tub overlooking the mountains. What a view! Both times we went to go in it was vacant, making it extremely relaxing.
Nordic is close to a lot of great restaurants & places to do some winter activities.
Truly a generational place, for I will be bringing my children here as well.

The last review gives you an overview of what’s available. We only come here in the winter and it’s quite a playground for that. Sledding hills right behind the condos, snowshoeing trails on premise, bonfires and skiing close by. The Lillhamer and Karlstadt units are pretty high and have the big sledding hills.
The units are OK, they could use freshening up, but are quite comfortable. TVs still have VCRs and the microwave is 20 years old, but hey who really cares. Most all have gas fireplaces which are REALLY warm, and the mountain view units have great views of the notch and Black Mtn ski areas. The higher up the Mtn you get, the better the view.
We were able to grab someones’ WiFi which worked fine, or maybe it was in the room don’t know. Decent room prices and with the kitchen you can bring bkfst and lunch food to save on eating out. They also tend to offer discounts after March 1 and the snow is still decent.
