Brian Leavitt-Northstone Real Estate

I have nothing but positive remarks for the job Brian did helping us find a house. He repeatedly exceeded our expectations during the process, from searching to making an offer to following up after the sale. Some examples of his service included:
1. Always being willing to make arrangements to show us homes, sometimes with not a lot of advanced warning on our part.
2. Setting us up with a loan broker who understood our financial position and got us a loan that worked for our budget.
3. Always being willing to give input about homes both on a personal level (the feel of the home, e.g.) and a professional level (potential future resale value, curb appeal), and clearly distinguishing between the two.
4. Contacting an owner of a house we liked (but needed a lot of upgrades) and working out a deal such that the seller paid for most of the work to be done. This was ultimately the house we bought and now we love it, but without Brian we would have ended up passing on it.
5. Following up after closing with a contractor we were having problems with. I won’t go into the details here but basically he kept on the contractor (for several months) until things were made right.
There are more things that I could list, but hopefully this gets across the general idea that Brian is the best real-​estate agent I’ve ever met. I would recommend Brian and Northstone Real Estate to anyone who needs to buy or sell a house.

When we first listed our home, we listed with a realtor that came highly recommended to us by friends that had used her. In a very hot market, she blundered call after call, interested buyers and so much more. After her failures and our feeling like we could no longer afford to sell our house we fired her (and had to get a lawyer to make her back away). We were burned.
In comes Brian:
We had known Brian from outside of the real estate world and our paths hadn’t crossed in a while, but on the recommendation of a mutual friend we reached out to him and told him the story. We had pretty much given up on the idea of selling for a profit with the previous realtor, but Brian came with his homework done and walked us through what he believed would be the best marketing strategy. He was very clear with what he would do, what he would want us to do, what he would ask his office associates to do, and told us the places he felt the previous realtor had steered us wrong.
Brian has been in the real estate business for a long time, and his office was barely over a mile from our home. We had confidence in what he was telling us, but we were still burned from the previous lady, and while that might have been a problem for other realtors, he made sure to answer the phone when we called, return any he wasn’t able to get to, and maintain contact with us throughout the entire process. We felt he did his job, and more when it came to dealing with prospective buyers and their real estate agents. While the previous real estate agent suggested I call back no shows and gather information from buyers agents, Brian clearly said to forward him any info I received as his job is to be the professional face of the transaction which I very much appreciated.
If Brian hadn’t stepped in when he did, had the experience to know the market, the area and how to deal with clients we wouldn’t have been able to sell our house for what we did. In a market where we had lowered our price twice with the first realtor, Brian helped us sell for over our initial asking price, right what we felt the house was worth. He helped us negotiate some frustrating responses after inspection, and also provided us with construction/​repair industry contacts to do the few nitpicky items that the buyers wanted done in both a timely and cost effective manner.
There were a few times we were ready to throw in the towel and give up selling but Brian walked with us the entire time and in the end we’re pleased with what Brian was able to do for us. We’d use him again, and we’d recommend him to others.
As we learned from the first realtor experience, I recommend you do your homework, call Brian‘s references, and make sure you ask the questions that matter to you. I’m sure Brian will be able to pass all those with flying colors but you need to know for yourself. In the end you‘ll have someone to talk you through the hard stuff, speed you through the easy and rejoice with you when you close the sale!

After finding a great rental on Craigslist, we found that the landlord was out of state and used Northstone Real Estate to oversee the financials (rent) and maintenance of the house.
Without mentioning names, the gentleman the oversaw our lease was at first helpful and attentive to our needs. Later though, all went down hill.
Slow in calling back about maintenance, seemed annoyed with our questions we had about everything and anything about the house and was overall very unhelpful.
I’ll state again, we dealt with Northstone via a rental, so I have no review to give on their real estate sales.
In the end, I’ll be avoiding any rental houses that have Northstone overseeing the lease.
