The food was oily and was okay in taste nothing special. The restaurant was open and modern. There was however was a very strong smell throughout the restaurant which was a negative. Lunch special is too restrictive, they should let you choose a couple of items. The staff was okay but timid. I found that the signs and menu had many shrilling and grammatical mistakes. If they are not careful in checking the spelling, are they careful with my food and food safety?

We went here for dinner Saturday night and were very impressed with the food and service. We like indian food but not really familiar with a lot of the items on the menu. The waitress was a real sweetheart describing various plates for us and helping us decide on what to order. I will be back again soon. Get there early by 7:30PM the line to get in was out the door. Thank you for making us feel welcomed and providing a great experience.

I was really impressed with the food here. We were in the mood for vegetarian food so we came here and ordered a dosa and thali. The food was great! Also, the restaurant is clean and well kept with really fast service!

Delicious food, you can’t go wrong if you want to taste authentic South Indian food. Menu not that expensive, good service, you might have to wait little bit as this place gets busy most of the times. I had food in another savarna bhavan in New York and it’s very expensive, Nyc savarna bhavan charge extra for sambhar but Irving one do not so that’s big plus.

Few things taste good but preparation of onion uttapam was quite bad, it was half cooked, batter was sticky. Management replaced it but replacement uttapam served super delayed. May be I will re-review rating but for now I think 3 still more than my experience.

This restaurant is part of a restaurant chain that is from the south of India. Having eaten at their restaurants in many parts of the globe, I can tell you that they always keep their consistency in terms of taste. Very authentic South Indian restaurant with a lot of variety of food. I am a frequent visitor to this location. A very popular hang out spot and Saturday and Sunday evenings can be crowded.

The food is to die for. Absolutely South Indian delightful cuisine. Mostly healthy too. Filter coffee is so awesome. The ambience is not that great. The service sucks.

Why does this place have such less rating? I loved the food so much that I went there twice in one weekend. Their combo 1 tiffin that has Idly, Upma, Halwa, Dosa is simply delicious. Not just that, its pretty authentic south indian food. The husband ordered a south indian meal the next time we went and every single dish that came with the plate was delicious. I have never loved a south indian thali this much. Its a great place, good large seating area and great food. Its pricey for indian food, yes, but then when it tastes so good, I don’t mind paying few extra bucks for it. I know now that I will not miss indian food in Texas.

Last time I had genuine Indian food was about 6 years. To say the least, this place definitely does not disappoint! I had gotten some sort of a sampler dish. Mind you, this place is for Vegetarians, so I don’t believe you could find meat for us meat eaters, haha. However, it’s always good to expand your horizons on food. There some parts of the sampler I liked, and some I did not like. My rating of a 4 is based on the taste of the food that I liked, and the amount that the restaurant gave you. My gosh, the platter I got was huge, I give props to whoever could finish it in one sitting! All in all, I’m not sure if I would come back here since I’m not THAT big of a fan of Indian food, but, it’s a good place for Indian lovers!

Vegetarian food lovers, this is your place! Mainly South Indian delicacies but you can find some North Indian dishes on the menu too. The menu itself is extensive and you have a lot of options to choose from… That said, I regularly like to indulge myself in some comfort food(this is comfort food for me). After moving to Dallas a few months back, I was introduced to this place nested in between a shopping plaza. Ample parking and a sizable restaurant, though I’ve heard there can be a line during lunch or on the weekend. Yes, it is a chain and yes the food tastes the same in all their restaurants, which highlights the consistency in their preparation and menu. This location has a lot of servers who are very eager to take your order and move on: so if you need time, don’t be afraid to tell your server to come back after you review the menu! They are hardly any help in making suggestions and one of my friends was in complete disarray till we gave her a quick summary of each dish… I have tried the idly vada, paper dosa, and onion rava masala dosa. All I can say is that their food is top notch! Comes pretty good to tasting like home food… Plus they give you a lot of chutneys to eat with your food!!! The idly is always soft and the vada feels like it was fried a second back. The dosa has to be made fresh and hence comes out crispy and delicious. While the servers are eager to take your order, they are also eager to serve you so expect prompt service at this place. Though once you are done, your plate disappears and your check arrives asap. Minus 2 stars for their«rush-rush» service. The filter coffee and mango lassi are also worth mentioning… South Indian filter coffee is very different from the traditional drip coffee. It is stronger, with a lot of milk and usually with sugar. In that regard the coffee served here is pretty good and can give you a good kick if you need one! I will be back to this place until I find something better. Hopefully they make the service a little less intimidating(more time to order and give suggestions to non-native Indian customers).

Thanks GC for bringing me here, what a great find: D Right in the middle of a plaza and along a stretch of highway cluttered with restaurants, this place is somewhere I would have never thought to stop by~ they are a restaurant chain from India, and they specialize in Southern Indian food. What’s that? So you know those Indian all-you-can-eat lunch buffets with curries and rice? It’s not that! Instead, think bread /dough /yeasty stuff: finger foods. The menu is extensive and includes northern cuisine for good measure. I didn’t even realize the place was vegetarian until writing this review; the spices and flavors keep your taste buds busy so that they won’t even miss meat! The menu was really extensive, but G said the best thing offered was the paper masala dosa. Dosa! What’s a dosa? A ginormous crêpe-like or rolled wafer-like sheet that is crispy, chewy, light, and airy~ how they have have a pan to make it that big, I’ll never know. It comes with a bowl of masala potatoes, 3 types of chutneys(mild coconut, spicy cilantro, and flavorful tomato, which was my fav), and lentil soup(which can be slurped directly or dipped). As to what you eat with the dosa, anything goes; tear or break off a piece of dosa and dip, scoop away with anything. I thought it was pretty fun to eat(*easily amused*). Spoon and fork included in case anyone wanted to pretend they actually have table manners ;) It was both crispy and chewy at the same time, and it tasted like junk food = utmost deliciousness! G got really excited, haven’t seen him chow down like that, so this place *must* be good! We had no problems with service– the food came in a flash, the waitress was nice. Also, don’t come late; there was a huge crowd at the door when we left around 9pm-ish or so! This would be a great place to try new foods or introduce friends to a new cuisine. There were so many dishes that the staff was serving(«What’s that? And that?») where I would ask my friend for more details. I can’t wait to see my sister’s eyes open wide when I bring her here! ^o^

Love it. I am a traveling salesperson, and I try to eat vegetarian every other day at least. South Indian food is my absolute favorite, and Saravanaa Bhavan is fantastic. I ordered the thali plate and loved it. Wish I could be more articulate. Very good place. I will go back for sure.
