Walk for Wishes OC

Can’t say anything negative about the cause (it’s for the kids!). Very well organized event, mainly due to the venue. It’s a large park so there was plenty of room. Check in was a breeze after parking. After getting our wristbands and the Unilocal swag (thanks Unilocal!), we went to grab our t-​shirts. There were stars to choose from to see what the kids wished for and a raffle table. The prizes were great but it was difficult to know if we bought tickets there or not (a few signs would be helpful). We couldn’t buy any tickets while the speeches were going on (while a noble gesture, we couldn’t hear the speeches well).
Anyways, for the price, I thought the walk was really short. 1.5 miles is short. I get that there were lots of families so the distance may be the right amount for the young ones, but maybe a couple other longer options?
I liked the different food vendors like Nothing Bundt Cakes, BJ’s, Lucille’s, Jimmy Johns, among others.

Great walk for fun

This is always a fun event and what a great cause! The Make-​A-​Wish folks do such a great job of fulfilling these kids wishes and giving them some hope. The OC Great Park is wonderful place to have the walk event and there is of course, plenty of parking. I got to visit my friends at Casco Contractors and E-​Gumball who were great sponsors and well as Unilocal.It was great to see our Unilocal OC team reach our team goal and fun to hang out and walk with all of them. Big thanks to Ryan C for being the awesome team leader he is and for providing food and swag for the event. The balloons were a great addition and worked well. Can’t wait for the next one!

I’ve run, bowled, donated, begged, borrowed, and stole for various good causes, but this was my first WALK for charity. It turned out to be just as rewarding!
Unilocal OC was awesome enough to set up a Unilocal team, which put even more fun in FUNdraising!
Before and after the actual walk, we were treated to sweets of every kind imaginable. Fruit, pastries, cake, coconut water and pretty much any other sugar you could possibly imagine. Not my usual choice of breakfast, but hey, my sweet tooth wasn’t complaining!
Thank you to everyone who generously donated on my behalf and for team Unilocal OC! Good karma all around!

I’m glad I had the privilege to help together with the @YelpOC team (by help I mean donating a few bucks, big deal, but every little donation adds up and helps, our small team raised about a grand)! The introduction about the children they help and the lives they change was impressive and it encouraged everyone to make a difference. And after all — we got free food, a great way to spend a weekend morning, a chance to talk to and meet new friends and pictures to make everyone jealous — you can’t buy that with money!

It is always a complete honor and privilege to participate in the various 5K walks/​runs around Orange County but very few of them can touch your heart like the one for the Make A Wish Foundation. The Unilocal Team always goes out the way to create a team and support the cause which is great to see and be a part of and for that I thank them.
To come out and be able to partake in this event and hear the stories from some of the brave boys and girls is truly heart warming and really opens your eyes to how good some of have it, even during our tough times. The event itself always manages to attract a great number of sponsors who have booths setup with food and drink samples, prize wheels, photo booths, coupons and numerous other attractions. The event is always well organized and easy to get through the registration process, claim your shirts and prepare yourself for the walk.
The event also features live music and performances and is pet friendly as well so you can bring your four legged friends along for the ride if you want. The OC Great Park is the perfect site for this event
It has been our pleasure for the past 2 years of walking as a member of Team Unilocal OC. Our team has raised over $ 1000 each year and seems to grow more and more each year. The walk itself is fun but is a bit clustered at times and you can never really work up a rhythm but the charity is the real star of the show and the walk is just the source in which it is built around. Despite the short walk length I recommend that everyone who wants to support a good cause look into supporting this event in the coming years and joining the team or even forming their own team if they so choose. There are few causes out there who bring about as much joy as Make A Wish, I support the cause, the event and will continue to do so going forward. I hope to see many more of you out there next year.

Walking for a great cause is always wonderful and being surrounded by fellow Unilocalers is even better!
Thank you, Ryan C, for organizing Team Unilocal OC and providing us Blackmarket bakery goods and Starbucks to fuel us for the walk. During this perfect sunny walk, we were cheered by lots of enthusiastic teens. They were awesome!
After the walk, there was plenty of free food and music to keep the party going. Lucille’s, BJ’s, Chick Fil A, California Pizza Kitchen, Bundt Cake, Strawberry’s, and more were serving us today.
Kids and dogs were all welcomed!
Overall — great cause, easy walk, live music, free food = YES PLEASE!

Great event for kids. Walk to raise money for our local Make A Wish chapter here in OC. Super friendly staff and volunteers. This event is always full of smiles.

A fundraiser for a great cause. Together we raised over $ 208K for Make-​A-​Wish. The walk was supposed to be 2 miles but I ran it and the course seemed to be shorter than that.
There were plenty of food vendors offering all participants free food. Of the vendors, I tried: Lucille’s BBQ, Caprotti’s Sandwiches, Pie-​Not, Porch pops, Buffalo Wild Wings, Farrell’s Ice Cream, Mendacino Farms strawberries, Hubert’s Lemonade, and Mother’s Kitchen. Our Unilocal OC team raised over $ 1400. We received some free shirts, coupons, and samples for our efforts. Great job, everyone!
