Great prices. Great crew. Clean job. As for most reviews and internet comments i have read here and everywhere for 20 years… still surrounded by grown children. As a business owner and contractor in construction for over 30 years it still makes me laugh at the childish whining coming from adults that do not have a professional trade skill, but still consider themselves experts. When «Adults» take to the review sites to whine and complain about the interruption of time taken out of their day, I can’t help but imagine them dropping to the ground in a childish fit. Grow up children this company is the cheapest and the best around. If you believe your schedule is not flexible, that’s your problem. Every business has the rite to refuse service.

I have used Torres Tree Service several times now. This past January, heavy winds and rain toppled a large tree near my driveway. The tree was about 30 ft tall. I contacted «David Torres» on a Sunday and he immediately came out to estimate. By next day, Monday, he had his crew out by 7:30am, right on time. And by 8:00am they were done and gone. Exceptional work. Cleaned up like a tree had never fallen. If I had done it my self with family members it would’ve taken several hours. Saving $ 100 or so wouldn’t have been worth it. Thank you Torres Tree, again. Great job!

Extremely unprofessional. Darlene must be family, the only explanation to her being employed. AVOID this company. Pay attention to the reviews. They cancelled numerous times, took two months to finish a one day job. Didn’t do the job they were supposed to, per the contract. Took them 3 weeks just to fix and finish that part. Darlene was nothing short of an unprofessional mess. This company prices their services a little lower than most just to get the business. If they were on par with others prices they’d be out of business. Again, pay attention to the reviews. Avoid this awful company.

This family owned co. has been regularly trimming my tree for a couple of years now. Since the first appointment they have been on time and professional. They have the best price, I’m very satisfied with David and co.

I made an appt for an estimate at 1030 am. Still no sign of anyone at 1145am. No calls from anyone and no one answers their phone either. Time wasted due to poor customer service by this company! I will be calling another company for tree service.

Torres Tree Service… not a service at all!
So I would have been a repeat customer for Torres Tree Service but something is going on with these folks. And it looks like from the repeated reviews about not showing up on Unilocal,they have some serious issues to figure out.
I don’t know how a business simply doesn’t show up for a scheduled service, am I crazy to assume that this is not an unusual happenstance? I mean, we did sign a contract and everything saying what day and time they would be here, but no one showed up, no one returned my calls, nothing. Oh wait, someone did show up, only 8 hours later. Again, no phone call, nothing saying why. The worker bees had no idea what I was talking about when I said they were 8 hours late. I turned them away, there’s no way I’m giving my hard earned dollars to a bunch of people who have no consideration for my business.
It’s been a day since my scheduled service and David Torres still has yet to call me as to why they never showed on time or to apologize for wasting my time. I should also add that they never showed up for the initial appointment to get a quote and we had to reschedule that too.
Times must be good for Torres Tree Service to treat their customers this way, must not need the business. I’m still waiting for your call David Torres until then Unilocalers, don’t call these unreliable people, they’ll just waste your time.

The group at Torres Tree Service confirmed two separate estimate appointments then did not show for either of them. Darlene took both appointments and after the first no-​show, she was very apologetic. During the second no-​show, I called twice to reconfirm. During the last call I was told I’d receive a call back. I never did, I waited at the property for an hour. My commute to my rental property is 30 minutes, with drive times and waiting times, I wasted over 3.5 hours. There are plenty of tree services, I would avoid this one.

Very disappointing.
This company is a joke and it’s a surprise they are still in business.
We called them for an estimate to plant 17 Italian cypress trees we purchased.
We set up an appointment for an estimate for a certain day; however that day I got a call from the receptionist telling me they need to reschedule because the person doing estimates got sick.
We rescheduled for another day the next week; I took a couple hours off from work just to be home and wait for them to arrive for the estimate; however half hour, then one hour after the set time went by and no one showed up or called me to reschedule, or apologize for being late.
I decided to call them; unfortunately the receptionist Darlene had NO CLUE where the owner was (the man who was going to come for the estimate). She tried calling and texting him at my request but he never called her back or texted back FOR AN ENTIRE DAY. She rescheduled me for later in the day but once again no one showed up. I spent the entire day waiting and asking where the estimate guy was; Darlene had NO CLUE.
I asked her several times if I should continue waiting at home for him, or go back to work, but she was simply CLUELESS and had no idea.
Ultimately he did not show up on the second day either.
Finally I got rescheduled for the next week; in the meantime one week and a half had gone by, and our job was waiting.
The morning of the new appointment I got an email from Darlene to let me know that «due to rain» the appointment was rescheduled; however there was NO RAIN and the day was beautiful; I checked the weather in their area and was dry as well.
In a nutshell: extremely poor customer service, lack of respect for their customers, no communication, they don’t talk to each other, estimates person inexistent or unable to keep commitments.
If the company behaves like this before starting the job, how will they be DURING the job? Will they even show up for the job ever?
UNRELIABLE COMPANY.

I used Torres Tree service as they had the lowest and most reasonable bid I could find for a very large tree. A Chinese Elm, about 30−40ft high, with a large overgrown canopy. I was very impressed with the service, they came out and took some pictures and notes on the tree. I received a estimate in email, with a digital signature form, which made the process very very easy.
I was also surprised as they called early (almost by a week), to see if they could come take down the tree. They came out and did an amazing job, the crew and I figured at least all day for the removal due to location of branches on property lines, etc… They had the bulk of the tree down within 4 hours. 1 – 2 hours more and they had the stump ground and treated. Final cleanup was great, an they even took some of the old mulch the renovator had left when i purchased the house, which really helped me, as I’m trying to clean and get the back yard ready for a patio/​deck.
They arrived early, got the job done early and everyone was great about the work. My experience with them is great and I am very happy I did business with them.

Long and the short… Hired them to do a job and while doing it they set their hot trimmers down on our synthetic grass and melted it. Came, saw the damage, acknowledged their fault and told us they would reimburse for repairs to our lawn. You know the end to this story… months later and we can’t get any sort of response from them let alone get paid back the $ 250 it cost us to repair their damage.
Was hoping a negative review might help resolve my dispute with them, but judging by the fact that they pretty much have nothing but negative reviews I’m guessing not. Save your self the headache– look elsewhere!

From the very beginning, it was an easy transaction. I liked that they could do an estimate from a photo. They ended up doing 4 more trees on the street and everyone is extremely pleased with their work. On time, friendly and professional. They removed a 50ft palm right next to my house without incident. Qouting process very professional and they are fully insured. This was very important to me and they provided Ins Cert without even asking for it.
Great job and would recommend.

I had two 30′ palm trees that need to be removed. Torres Tree Service gave me a very reasonable estimate after I sent them an email with all pics attached. The workers showed up a bit late but no problem for me. They did a decent job for the price quote; however, the roots were not completely removed. One old guy even dumped the mulch around our neighbor that caused some complaining. I had to hire them back a second time to complete the removal of the tree roots and mulch. The same old guy attempted to dump the mulch around the neighborhood and I asked him to stop doing that in time! He was even arguing against the leveling of the area that the contract called for.
Overall, Torres Tree Service did a decent job with a reasonable price. Their young workers worked very hard. If they have young foremen with good work ethics, they can be no.1 landscaping company in the area.
You owed it to yourself to quote the service with this company if you are in need of a tree removal service; however, you have to watch closely to make sure that the job is being finished the way you wanted.

Very disappointing. Two weeks ago I sent an email and voicemail requesting tree service and no response. I tried again a week later and finally got a an email with an estimate. Darlene called me to confirm services and appointment time. After that I received a cancellation email out of no where. I tried following up with more emails/​voicemails but no response AGAIN!
They are unprofessional and I do not recommend them due to lack of communication.

Update 2: It has been more than 2 months since the job was «completed» and more than a week since my last review, and the trunk is still there and my backyard is a disaster the date of my daughter’s birthday party rapidly approaching. The company gives dates they will provide an update, and those dates have passed without a word from the previously responsive company. When the foreman came out last week, he was extremely rude to me. His first argument was that the price was too low. My response was we paid your bid that your company gave us after seeing the tree; we did not negotiate or name the price. The second statement is what’s the big deal to which I exasperatedly responded I want a flat backyard that my kids can play in and it’s reasonable to not want jagged tree roots and an uneven stump sticking out. Third he said he covered the stump with grass before he left initially. This required me to show pictures on my phone to disprove him. Now we are going to need to have to pay a second company to remove the stump and buy new sod and then use legal means to seek repayment from this company for work deceivingly not performed. If you are not a lawyer or you don’t want a jagged tree stump sticking above ground, then do not use this company for tree removal. Pay slightly more and get the job completed!
Update: While the job expressly included removing the stump, they did not remove it but covered it with a mound of dirt. When it was discovered by the landscapers covering it with grass, the company was super nice but kept saying the «day after tomorrow» to remove it. Then they would not show up without a call or any update even though they knew we had sod sitting in the yard waiting to be planted. They blamed it on a broken machine. I asked them to rent a stump grinding machine as the landscapers said that can be done, but the company refused. Again after a week of trying to get the stump removed, it is still sitting there and the grass is dying. As is their MO, I was not called, but informed in response to my inquiry that they are not coming after we waited around for over four hours on a Saturday and was told again the day after tomorrow. Meanwhile the grass will be dead and I’m certainly not holding my breath that they will actually fulfill the job they agreed to do and have been fully paid for. Such a disappointment!
We had a massive Italian Stone Pine in our backyard that unfortunately was a victim of our horrible drought. They were the lowest of a dozen bids (and a quarter of the highest bid), they showed up every day early, ready to go (even on very hot days), and apologized for the job taking longer than expected (it was a huge tree and they worked hard so I would not fault them for that). But even though the job took twice as long as expected, they never once tried to ask for more money and did not cut any corners. Highly recommend them. The owner Pedro works along side his crew, and cares about doing a good job.

I figured that the service would improve after dealing with such a fiasco last week (see last update). I FINALLY got service scheduled with a time that worked for everyone (today between 1:30 — 4:30pm)! Yay!
Ummm… queue the waiting.
My experience with them the other two times we had service was AMAZING and I am so sad that I have to write this review while I still am waiting for them to come… at 5:30pm. At 4:30 I called their number and it went to voice mail. Which was full. I was then given the option to send an SMS text, so I did (only option was to enter my 10-​digit call back number). I sent an email to David Torres quoting the confirmation email I received for our service today and have yet to be contacted that someone was running late, or that that they need to reschedule.

I may be willing to give them one more chance because I like their work, but MAN… This customer service should be in a book of what NOT to do or the steps to tank your business.
The worst thing anyone can do to me, personally, is not keep your word.
You say you’ll call back (previous fiasco), you say you’ll email me for service scheduling, you say you’ll call me to see if everything got taken care of, you say I’ll be satisfied with the service today, you say you’ll be here today between 1:30 and 4:30… So you say.
Keep your word! Integrity is not something to take lightly. Oh, and making people wait for you time and time again is just straight up rude.

Talked to david about a job i needed… Sounded really nice and professional on the phone, got a good vibe from him… Until no call, no show. Then I looked at Unilocal… damnit.
Should’ve looked first!!!

Very disappointing!!! Just like every other Unilocal reviewer has mentioned, their professionalism has gone down the drain! I used them back in 2012, to have two large ficus and an olive tree trimmed. They came on time, ave me a reasonable estimate, did a decent job, and cleaned up after themselves– no problems.
This year, I called them back for an estimate and the job. They scheduled me for 9:30 appointment on a friday– At 8:05, their office calls and claims that David is stuck at a job and wont be able to make it in at 9:30. Really, if they start their jobs at 8am, how could he be stuck at a job in 10min? Suspicious already.
Rescheduled for a monday at 9:30– NO SHOW! At 10:30, after waiting for an hour, I called to office, to find out if he was coming, and Darlene, who is a very sweet receptionist, responds that David is stuck in a job again… REALLY! Its bad enough, that they rescheduled me twice, but its even worse, when they don’t have the courtesy or professionalism to notify a customer, if they are not going to show up!!! Extremely unprofessional! I expressed my disappointment on the phone and told them that I was going to call another company for the services– which I did! They really need to get their act together!

We had an appt. scheduled for a quote. David didn’t show, and after calling several times, I didn’t even get a phone call back that day. I didn’t get a call back until the NEXT DAY to reschedule. I should have taken this first hint.
We had an appt. scheduled IN WRITING ON A SIGNED CONTRACT for the crew to show up at 7:30 AM to cut down our tree. We were ready. Our neighbor was ready. They didnt show up at 7:30 AM, and after calling several times, I didn’t get a call back until AFTER the appt. time (7:30AM-12:30PM), citing phone and internet issues. I have a feeling they use this excuse all the time. The crew did show up until 8 hours AFTER the appt. time. Part of the service was for the crew to repair the sprinkler if they broke it in the process. That didn’t happen. They just capped the sprinkler. They did not fix it.
We had to call again to schedule an appt. for the crew to come out again and actually fix the sprinkler some time this past Saturday. It is now Tuesday, and they have not showed, nor have I received a call back from ANYONE.
This is EXTREMELY RUDE. Their customer service is nil. They obviously have no consideration of their customers’ time, or our surrounding neighbors’ time. It is now a week after the tree was cut down and I’m still waiting for my sprinkler be fixed.

Waking up to multiple chainsaws at 7am on a Saturday morning is not a pleasant experience. This is exactly what happened to our neighborhood this morning. When confronted and asked to wait until at least 8am, the workers at Torres laughed in our faces and just made more noise.
They were inconsiderate, rude, and upset the entire neighborhood. The head office was called and nothing was done about it. All the neighbors called the police and by the time the police arrived it was already 8am and the workers had finished. I URGE you not to use this company unless you want to upset all your neighbors!

So let me be honest…
I read Torres Tree Service reviews before calling, in spite of cautionary posts. What swayed me? The overall star count. 4 – 5 stars and I’ll give anyone a second chance.
OUR JOB: Trim our neighbor’s ficus trees back to the fence line. The overgrowth robbed our yard of sunlight, and the overhanging upper branches reached out and nearly touched our house. The yard felt cavelike.
SCHEDULE: I contacted TTS by email. David Torres came out the next day. ½ hour early. A good sign.
He quoted a reasonable price with estimated time span of 1.5 hrs. The crew would arrive in a few days to remedy our problem. Quick service. Another good sign.
THE APPOINTMENT came and went. NO SHOW. NO PHONE CALL. And when I called the office and David’s cellphone two hours after the crew was expected to arrive, I received no answer.
A few hours later Darlene from the office called to reschedule. She said we’d receive a 25% discount on the original quote.
RESCHEDULE: A few days later the 5-​man crew arrived 20 minutes early driving a large truck towing a branch chipper. No joke.
THE JOB: One man clipped the taller branches with an extended hand clipper. The second man walked the fence using a buzz saw to get the heavy, thicker foliage. The other men hauled loads of branches to the chipper. The fifth man started feeding limbs thru the machine. Very effecient.
Micheal, the foreman, checked with me along the way to be sure they were trimming enough.
FINISH: While our backyard is tiny there’s lots of places stray branches and twigs can hide. The Torres team used a blower, rake and broom to leave the yard (front and back) immaculate.
OUTCOME: This morning we woke up to sunlight streaming through our kitchen window. Perhaps the grass will revitalize. We’ll see.
OVERALL we might have experienced a few bumps and bruises in the road, but the outcome met our expectations.
