I called this morning and asked if there was possibly anyone that would honor the Groupon I had purchased for an appointment today. The receptionist was able to get me in same day. I didn’t know anything about the place except the reviews I had read here, nor did I know any stylists in the area, but I left very happy. Jesse was my stylist today and I explained to him what I wanted, asked his opinion about a good look, showed him a few pictures of what I was thinking and trusted him to do his work. He was professional, a little quiet, but intensely working. I appreciated when he told me exactly what he was planning to do when and he was going to do something. I believe he went above and beyond with blow dying and curling my hair, which I love. I will be going back there and seeking his services again. The salon overall was fine and the stylists in the chairs around his seemed very good as well. I went in with a disaster and left very satisfied with a great do. :) Thanks.

Jessie is wonderful… If you are looking to have an amazing experience this is the salon for you. Jessie is the best. He listened with patience, and caring. I was scared going to a new stylist after 12 years with mine. When she moved to Hawaii, I had to take a leap of faith. I feel so fortunate to have found Jessie. He had a gentle touch to my naturally curly, course, unruly hair. I love my highlights.

Jessie Brice is the guy! I walked in there trusting their receptionist to make my appointment, and couldn’t have been more satisfied and happy with the drastic color change I let Jessie make with highlights. I have referred him to 3 of my girlfriends, who have made appointments with him. When it comes to color, style and even hair care products, this guy knows the best!
I would highly recommend Jessie to someone who values what they look like and keeping their hair in the best possible shape. Thanks Jessie!

If you’re looking for amazing hair cut and the exact hair color, Ashley is the stylist to go to at this place. The salon could use some upgrades, but honestly all I care that I look fabulous afterwards. And with Ashley you’ll get that. Highly recommended.

I’ve been going to Maxwell’s to get my hair done ever since I can remember. Tony has been doing my hair since I was a teenager now I’m married with 3 kids and we all get our hair cut and styled from Tony as well. I always get so many compliments on my hair, and my hair always feels fantastic and looks so healthy. Tony is a very talented stylist and my appointments are always a real pleasure, my family all feel the same way. I’m so grateful to the capable hands of Tony. I’m recommending you to all my friends and colleagues. If you do decide to leave the salon, you can be sure that my family and I will stay as clients whereever you move to.

I’ve been coming to Maxwells salon for 15 years where Flora has been doing my hair. I can’t say enough wonderful things about her skill, talent & expertise as a hairdresser as well as her lovely personality. She has an uncanny natural talent to know just the right cut and color. I can’t recommend her enough!

I bought a Groupon for the haircut, deep conditioning treatment, color, and blow dry. I had Priscilla as my stylist and she was wonderful! She listened to what I wanted, made suggestions for color, and was so easy to talk to. I will definitely go back!

I came for an appointment today with a groupon. I mentioned on the phone when I made the appointment that I had a groupon. After a 25 minutes wait, Danielle informed me that, because I have come to her before (over a year ago), she would not honor the groupon. The fine print only says «not valid for customers active in the last 6 months», it does NOT say «new customers only». Danielle was rude, repeating that I was asked on the phone when I booked if I had come before (I was NOT), and not believing what I was saying. She even insinuated that she believed I had come TWICE — which I had certainly not, either. I respect that she only gives groupons for new customers, but then she should make that clear when selling them. Surely, if I was told this on the phone, I would have made other arrangements to get a haircut somewhere else today, instead of wasting so much time and not getting my hair done as planned. Very disappointed in this place.

Tony was supposed to do my hair which apparently doesn’t know how to deal with a lot of hair!!!
I wanted a blow dry which I was quoted $ 35. I showed him what I want and my usual stylist can do it without using any flat or round iron! He told me to get to that look he has to use flat or round iron and I said never mind. Just blow dry and have some waves. I have a problem with using iron in my hair and I asked not to use any kinds of iron. He started blow drying my hair not drying it completely in a very flat manner which was worse than the work of a hair stylist student!!! He didn’t even bother to use any product to help him control the frizz in my hair that was starting to happen! I swear I am not exaggerating! So, I asked him if this was how it was going to look like and I told him I was unhappy! He told me he can’t do a better job because I had a lot of hair and it would take him a long time unless he uses an iron! I ALWAYS get my hair done and NEVER use flat iron! I told him to try to dry it better and all of the sudden he said he doesn’t want to do my hair! WHAT??? now the hair stylist is rejecting me??? Instead of me rejecting his work??? That was so unacceptable! I just packed my stuff and left! With ¹⁄₃ of my hair half done and the rest just wet!!! Unbelievable! NEVER have seen this before and will NEVER go back to this salon ! Do yourself a favor! If you have to go to this salon and have a lot of hair, don’t let Tony touch your hair!

I was referred to this place by my roommate and at first I was contemplating to go because I moved OC not to long ago. So the first time I made an appointment with Jen she did an amazing job! She is so down to earth, asking me if I want anything to drink and gave me her honest opinion about what color/​haircut would look best on me. She is now my permanent hairstylist. Another hairstylist that is also amazing and down to earth is Danielle! One time I decided to do a last minute style for a wedding. Jen didn’t have any openings so instead I made an appointment with Danielle. I loved my hair that night! I did a half up do with curls and the style stayed up all night! Overall, I would recommend going with either one of these girls, they are awesome!

Writing a review for Flora. I’ve been using her to cut and style my hair for years. She does an amazing job and has been able to do a variety of styles for me including classic, trendy, and «edgy» looks. She also mentioned that she attends classes to keep up with the latest trends. I highly recommend her.

I bought a groupon for a deep conditioning treatment and haircut. One never knows what to expect when you buy a groupon, but I was pleased with the results.
Booking an appointment was easy and I had an appointment within two days. The salon is easy to get to and the place has a simple décor. My hair stylist was Danielle and I showed her images of the haircut I wanted. She said she loved pictures and I’ve found that showing what I want instead of telling always gives me better results.
Danielle was attentive and offered me something to drink during my time here; she did a deep conditioning treatment on my hair and afterward shampooed it out. She then started to cut my hair and when she was done blowdrying she did more cutting for the face framing portion. I love how she cut my hair– it was just how I wanted!
I’m glad I got to have Danielle work on my hair and I plan on going back.

I like the location! This is even closer to my house than the last salon was — I have lived so close to this shopping plaza for over a decade and had no idea this salon was here (I used to get my nails done next door even). I’m glad I get to come here now though. Very convenient.
Jen is great! She’s very personable and fun to talk to. She does a fantastic job with my hair. I usually give her basic guidelines but let her do what she thinks will look good (keeping in mind that I’m aiming for a «professional» look). I haven’t been disappointed and I always get compliments on my haircuts. I’ve actually even been getting compliments on my hair as it’s grown out too! She did a wonderful job. She’s very gentle with you, but efficient and precise. Girl knows what she’s doing!
I can text her too which I love — texting for an appointment is a lot more convenient for me, and then I have a record as well so I know when my appointment is! The salon also sends out a text reminder of your appointment which is nice. I won’t forget!
I’m going to try highlights next time! I’ve got too much grey, it’s time to try to hide it. lol. I’ll post an update about how they go. :)

I too purchased the groupon. I had no trouble getting an appointment. (Called on Saturday and got in for Tuesday).
Danielle was my stylist and she was extremely throughout in speaking with me about what I wanted, I would give her a 4 or 5. I was not sure what shade to color my hair and Danielle shared her advice as well as listened to what I wanted. I wanted to color a red tone out of my hair, Danielle did warn that it may be that not all of it could be covered but in the end it was all covered. She on numerous occasions offered me something to drink and was very attentive. Some people did mention that it does take quite a while for Danielle to do a cut and color, this is true, I was there for about 3.5 hours but I feel like this is typical for most salons.
My reasons for not giving the salon itself a higher star rating: I think I saw three or four stylists doing their own hair (coloring, cutting, drying) while I was there, maybe this is just me but this does seem unprofessional. The other issue was just the décor, someone said it looked like a supercuts salon. While I haven’t been to a supercuts in years, this is what I remembered them to look like. It was a very basic salon, so if you are looking for that spa or glam experience, this isn’t for you. But the salon was clean and stylists were continually sweeping and cleaning up their stations so if pretty décor is not important to you then this shouldn’t be an issue.
On the other hand I really felt like many of the stylists really cared about their clients. walking them to the door as they left and talking to them like long time friends.

This was a great little neighborhood salon that I found through purchasing a Groupon for a haircut. While I usually only go to Christina S. at Gods and Heros in Costa Mesa, I thought the Groupon was really reasonable at $ 35 for a cut, conditioning treatment, and blow-​dry. I wanted to try a new place out so and I figured, since I only needed a trim, what could go wrong?
After reading the varying degrees of Unilocal reviews, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I wound up getting Danielle and I must say, I was VERY satisfied with her. She was as friendly and accommodating as can be and I walked out of the salon with a fresh cut and she gave my hair a good tease (at my request) for some volume. I am a fan and I would highly recommend her. Her regular rates are pretty affordable, too. This salon may not be on the super fancy end, but really, at the end of the day you just want to find someone that knows how to do good hair. If I wanted a cocktail, I’d go to a bar.

I’m very particular about my hair and still haven’t found a salon worth going back to in the Irvine area. I think I just found my salon!
I bought the Groupon deal, $ 65 for a hair-​cut, deep conditioning treatment, and partial highlights. I called in to make an appointment and the receptionist scheduled me to see Danielle.
Right when I walked in, the receptionist greeted me and let Danielle know that I was there for my appointment. She walked me over to the booth and immediately asked me what color I wanted for my highlights. My last stylist gave me reallyyyy light highlights so I wanted a more medium-​brown color for subtle highlights. Danielle brought out a book and showed me the different colors to make sure I got the color I wanted. While putting the highlights in, she was sure I was comfortable by offering water and magazines. Even when washing my hair, she kept asking if my neck was comfortable and if the temperature of the water was okay. AMAZING, right?
Before she began cutting my hair, let me know exactly what length she was going to be cutting and made sure it was okay with me first. I ended up cutting 4 inches off and I love the style she gave me! And more important, I love the color of my hair! I don’t think I’ve ever been more satisfied with partial highlights while in Irvine. Thank you Danielle!
PS — I think their hair cuts are normally $ 55 and partial highlights are $ 75. Not bad! I’m definitely coming back here!
