Learning Fuze

I’d say I got everything I wanted out of LearningFuze. I tried prepping for the course a few weeks before it started by reading books, doing tutorials, learning on my own essentially. I had so many unanswered questions it was extremely frustrating. Not only is the team there to help you answer questions and get passed those blockers when you get stuck, but ultimately you become so self-​sufficient, you’re able to solve your problems and answer your own questions. A lot of people say oh the best way to learn is to build a project, but what if you don’t know how to build anything or where to start?! That is what this program will help you out with. We’ve worked on 6 different projects, two hackathons, and I’ve also spent a lot of time refactoring my code into object oriented, am learning javascript frameworks, like angular, dabbled with a CSS framework called LESS, and now am making a final project that ties in twitter, Zillow, and google maps API into a apartment hunter organizer/​mashup. I have no doubt my portfolio will be as fun and awesome as it was to make.
The team at LF stays till 8pm daily, and shows up well before 8−9am. I’m more of a night owl so I prefer to stay later. How advanced you want to be, and how much you want to learn is entirely up to you. I was freaking out before the program about getting a job but now it’s not even close to a concern. I am a huge worrier, and the confidence that this program has instilled in me and my outlook for the future has been well worth the ride. I’m so confident in my own abilities and what I’ve got out of the program, I have no doubt that getting a job will be an issue. I feel like I can literally go learn, build, or do whatever I want with the knowledge I have attained over the last 3 months. The key will be to stay disciplined after the program is over and make sure I code every day so I only keep getting better.

I just completed my front end developer course here at learningfuze. I enjoyed every minute of it. Coding was very new to me and I was completely lost when first starting. But they will go out of thier way to help you out as they are very involved with thier students. They even let me come in on my lunches from work to get extra tutoring. That’s how great of a staff they have.
If I can do it all over again I definitely would. That’s how much I enjoyed this course at learningfuze. I look forward to other courses they might offer in the future. I definitely recommend this cohort if you are looking for a career change or just looking to get into Web Development.
The only thing that bothered me about this course is that they have plenty of snacks to munch on. I can now only fit in my sweat pants. I blame it on the peanut butter granola bars.

Learning Fuze is a fantastic place to begin your web development career. While there are many boot camps that will take people with training and help to improve their skills to a higher level, Learning Fuze is the only one I’ve seen that will take people with ZERO background in web development and give them the skills necessary to succeed in that specific job market.
They teach a LAMP stack with a strong emphasis in javascript. They do an extremely thorough job in developing the logic skills necessary to make the transition from javascript to PHP. The entire class is a project-​based curriculum that puts the skills you learn to work and help develop a deeper understanding of the material that you learn.
I would be remiss if I did not mention the dedication of the staff. I was in cohort 4 and I showed up everyday at 8:30, about an hour and a half before class started. Bill was there every morning to open the doors early to let us early birds work. Dan, the lead instructor, would come near 9 and work with anybody that needed it. Class ended at 6, and I would usually stay until about 8 to work more. Dan would stay practically every night to help out and his dedication truly helped me out.
The course was very difficult, but extremely rewarding and after 3 months I feel well prepared and capable in my new chosen field of work thanks to Learning Fuze.

The Learning Fuze staff know what they’re doing and they genuinely care for their students. Their project based curriculum is on point, their staff is available before and after hours, and they understand the industry inside and out. They even bring in guest speakers from tech companies, employees in the field, and recruiters to give you first hand accounts on hiring practices and workplace environments. On top of all the hands on learning and technical assignments they know when to relax and have fun. I completed the full immersion course and I honestly feel like I got what I paid for and so much more.

I just recently completed the full immersion bootcamp at LearningFuze as part of their 4^th cohort. I have nothing but great things to say about this bootcamp. I graduated with a degree in biology and had no experience in coding before making the career change into web development. The instructors are extremely knowledgable and they make sure that all the students understand the material. They are always available for help and willing to come into class before hours and stay after hours. I am so amazed at how much i’ve learned in the three months that i’ve been here. Their curriculum is based off of what most employers are seeking in this industry. The amount of material that is covered can be overwhelming but they do a good job of making sure we take enough breaks to relax and have fun. They have a lounge where you can just kick back on a sofa and relax whenever you need to. They have an xbox, mini basketball hoop, badminton, footballs to throw around, and other things to help balance out the workload. They not only help with our coding skills but also our soft skills. We are given mock interviews which include whiteboard interviews. We also have multiple one on one meetings with the instructors so that you can let them know what you’re happy or unhappy about the program so far. We have guest speakers almost every week which is super helpful getting to hear from current CEO’s and employers about what it’s like to work in this industry. Dinner is always served during guest speaker nights which is a plus! I am currently getting my final project wrapped up but I have no doubt that I will be able to find a job. It’s been a roller coaster ride but I couldn’t be more happy with everything i’ve learned and accomplished thus far since attending LearningFuze.

I posted five stars to LearningFuze, but when Unilocal posted my review, the five stars were removed, Please note that I am giving five stars to Learningfuze on my review. I have been taking the part time Front End Development class for eight weeks so far and I have learned so much in this short period of time. I went from knowing very little about HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Jquery, Ajax, to being able to create a website using all of the above. Binh is our instructor and she is amazing, she is very knowledgeable, caring and extremely supportive. Working in the Educational field for ten years, I am impressed with LearningFuze’s curriculum and approach to teaching. I have been so impressed with the program and instructors that I am starting the three month immersion program in one week — and I can’t tell you how excited I am to been learning more about Web development.

I am currently in week 8 of the 3^rd cohort and so far everything is going great. I am learning so much everyday. The class is structured so that you’re not just thrown into the deep end. They start with the basics and push you throughout the course to keep improving the way you code. The day usually starts with a coding exercise in the morning to get the brain warmed up for coding. It is usually based on the previous days lesson or assigned reading, so it helps you get the concepts down by actually implementing them vs. just reading about them. Prior to applying to the program I was teaching myself to code through online resources like CodeCademy and YouTube tutorials but I got tired of it because it didn’t go into great detail and at the end of finishing those courses you don’t really know how to actually go about building something. Don’t get me wrong CodeCademy is great to figure out if you really do like programming. If you can go through those courses and finish them then I think that’s a good inclination that this may be the career for you.
I wanted to fully learn how to code the proper way and bridge the gap between beginner and reaching a level where I am employable with the skills to back it up, which is why I started searching for schools like this one to explore my options. I searched for a few months before ultimately deciding on LearningFuze based on these following reasons. They are fully dedicated to helping the students succeed. They have done there research on what languages are in demand in Orange County which is HTML/​CSS, JavaScript on the front-​end and PHP/​MySQL on the back-​end (which I confirmed by searching what languages are listed on the majority of job postings). The have a great learning facility which includes the main room where we each get our own 27 inch monitor to hook up into (which btw, really helps when looking at multiple files of code) along with a kitchen and lounge/​break area to hang out and take breaks from coding. The instructors are really great and take the time to walk you through anything you might be struggling with. Which is awesome because one of my fears before committing was not being able to keep up with all the material that’s crammed into the 12 weeks. They also bring in guest speakers from tech companies around the area to give you advice on your journey to become a Web Developer and gaining employment after you are finished with the program. We have hackathons every two weeks which are awesome and a whole lot of fun. You are put in teams and given some specs on what to build and spend all day long with your team building something and then showcase your end product with the class to decide on a winner. We also have these things called 1 on 1’s where you meet with the instructors every two weeks and kind of touch base on what’s going on with you as far as anything you feel your struggling with, any concerns you may have, anything you want to focus on more, and any suggestions you have and they will do there best to take care of you and any concerns you may have.
Ultimately you have to really think if this is something you are serious about and want to pursue. It is a huge commitment. You will be here 8 hours a day minimum for 12 weeks. You cannot have a part time job while going through the course, there just won’t be any time. Often times I will stay an extra hour after class to finish whatever I’m working on or show up early to get a head start. You life for 12 weeks will be to code, code, and more code. I worked at a law firm for 8 years and it was very hard to leave that security but I wasn’t happy with having a job, I wanted a career that I enjoyed. Once I discovered my passion for coding and decided this was the school I wanted to attend to help me make the jump into tech I began studying on my own. I read books like HTML/​CSS & JavaScript/​JQuery by John Duckett and I’m very glad I did as it helped get me to a level where I didn’t feel overwhelmed with information once I finally started the program. It helped me focus on the more complicated parts of the code instead of struggling with the very basic stuff. If I could offer any advice its study as much as you can before you begin the program by going through all of the prep work they provide. Finish it all and you will be in a great place come the first day of class. Also practice your typing because you don’t want that slowing you down during class.
To sum things up, this will be a tough 12 weeks. You’ll have tons of fun, you’ll get frustrated, you’ll figure it out, you’ll get frustrated again, and you will learn to code. I have already come such a long way and I’m not even finished yet. I’m excited to see how much more I can learn in these last few weeks. As far as employment I have no doubt that I will find a job. I am a firm believer in if you put in the work in the end it will pay off.

LearningFuze was a great experience! The instructors here are of first-​class quality. Thi (day time full immersion instructor) is an absolute wizard with code and has over 10 years of experience. You’ll be amazed at what this guy can do with a computer and a keyboard. Daniel (day time full immersion instructor) has been coding before the days of Google, is extremely knowledgeable on many different languages and platforms, and he’ll take the time to sit beside you to pair program your way out of complex problems.
Binh (part-​time night instructor) has over 7 years of full-​stack development experience and is very passionate about teaching. She cares deeply about whether you learn or not. For example, during one evening session my class mates all either got sick or had emergencies, so I was the only one that could make it. Instead of cancelling class, she stayed and tutored me one-​on-​one through some of complexities of Object-​Oriented programming. This is the level of commitment you get from your instructors at LF.
They could only do so much though, the rest is up to how hard you work, how many hours you put in, and whether you can summon up the emotional intelligence and maturity to deal with frustrations that naturally come with learning how to code. I can personally attest though, that the harder you work the easier it gets!
The commitment doesn’t stop with the instructors though, Bill and Fabian (Director of Operations, Director of Technology, respectively) work their butts off to work with employers and connect them with the students. There are speaking events once a week, sometimes more. During those events, they often provide food, snacks, and beer! In fact, Fabian and I have sat down over a couple of beers to discuss the current landscape of higher education and where he believes technology and full-​immersion bootcamps like LearningFuze will serve a role.
Currently, almost all of the students in my cohort (2^nd cohort) have jobs or job offers they’re weighing. I myself got hired on to a web development agency only a few weeks after graduation. Not saying that it’s a walk in the park though, we’re competing with college grads with 4 year CS degrees, but web development is a hot field right now, work hard, put up some quality projects on GitHub, network, and you’ll be on your way to a better career and life.

LF did and is doing super great job on cultivating people of coding talent, from definite novice level to proficient level. If you are looking for advanced courses, I would recommend you their iOS mobile development course, which is a part-​time.
Before this program, I had absolutely no coding experience and had some doubts about the program. Because I graduated from college with Biology degree and worked 3 years in laboratory field, this decision was such a big change and risk to me. And so, I tried to learn coding myself through some coding learning websites. However, I was having a hard time getting a firm grasp on coding on my own. So, I decided to register for LF Bootcamp and it seemed to be exactly what I wanted — good location (Irvine), nice payment plan /​guarantee, collaborative environment, good vibe (great interior with relaxing area separated from work area so you don’t get distracted), and great great directors/​instructors/​mentors (they are there for you, really). The program far exceeded my expectations and now I can really code what I want to make. Not only that they train you right with most updated and demanding technologies asked from local employers, but they also brush up your soft skills as well, which is very important part in this field.
For those of you wondering, I’m still in the process of getting my portfolio website done and practicing for the interview (as of Nov 14^th, officially the last day of class). However, I already got really good connections to many local employers, who want to see my portfolio and potentially want to interview me.
The difficulty of program itself is very explanatory in their name, BOOTCAMP. It’s full-​immersive course, which requires you to be really committed to do this. You will definitely be burnt out throughout 12-​week course, but they are there to help you go through IF you have a passion towards coding.
I do not regret my decision. The experience I had at LF is priceless.
