Extra Space Storage

Lucy gets a 5 star rating, Extra space gets a 2 star for taking over the storage unit and making things impossible and raising the rent So high.
I don’t actually have a storage unit at this location, I was there trying to give them 307.00 for a storage unit that my sister has in riverside off of Van Buren that was going to be auctioned the next morning.
The girl i was working with here was very helpful (Lucy) seeing all the sudden this was her problem because I live in Irvine and not Riverside. She was extremely and figured it out for me.
which I really appreciated.
My Sister storage was originally Smart Stop at 38.00 mo, Extra space storage took it over and now the monthly payments are $ 76.00 which made it impossible to pay and it went up for pre auction and a 38.00 storage bill became a 307.00 bill.
She will be moving it, we tried to get help from corporate but they just kept adding fees really didn’t care.
We will not be using extra space storage anymore, but really appreciated Lucy helping us because the people at the extra space storage on 6667 Van buren in Riverside were very rude not only to my sister but my self and the Lucy in Irvine that was trying to help us.
I never had so much trouble trying to give some one 300.00 which almost half were fee’s

My locker was robbed less than 2 months after moving my furniture in. The lock (that I purchased from Extra Space) was picked and all $ 3700 worth of furniture was moved out. There was no sign of forced entry and everything looked normal.
When I informed the clerk that my stuff was missing, she rolled her eyes as if thinking, «not again.» I filed a police report with Irvine PD and the officer told me I was the 5^th locker to be robbed in 3 months in that facility. The worst part was the insurance company had the audacity to accuse me of taking my own stuff. It took another 3 weeks to finally get my insurance check.
I would avoid this place at all costs.

I came home after working overseas for 5 months and went to my storage unit to find that many of my belongings had been stolen. The funny thing was there is no sign of forced entry. When I approached my storage unit, everything seemed normal, that is until I opened it and noticed things were out of place and completely disorganized. Before I left for my job, I had organized my belongings in several blue storage bins, which are now all gone except for 2, and thought it weird that boxes were open and things were out of place. Then I noticed that what was in the unit was a lot less than what I left it with. It is also weird that these thieves picked and chose which items to take and which items to leave.
While filing the police report, I was told by the officer that there were 10 previous robberies in similar fashion during the summer at this location alone, yet the facility did nothing to raise the security or warn current tenants.
After the incident and analyzing what could’ve occurred, I HIGHLY recommend that customers DO NOT USE this facility unless you opt for one of the units with a metal roller door, which means more money. Most of the other units here, like the 5X5s (which I had), have ply wood doors and the hinges are on the outside which look like they can be popped easily. The security here is almost nonexistent and there are many camera blindspots at this location. I feel like it had to be someone with the gate code or it would look very suspicious having to wait on someone for entry and exit. I had insurance on the unit but after reading previous reviews, it looks like I’m going to have some trouble with my claim because there was no forced entry.
Again, either rent a more secure unit at this location or move to a different location with better security because spending $ 10 more a month is better than losing precious memories and over $ 1000 worth of stuff

If I could have selected negative stars I would have. DO NOT use this facility. My unit got broken into and a lot of stuff was taken; I have insurance on the unit but at first the insurance company denied my claim because there was no sign of forced entry; after three weeks of reaching out to the staff I finally was able to talk to someone and they called the insurance company and got the ball rolling but only because the facility itself filed a police report as well. Since I no longer felt safe or that the staff was providing any help I decided I would move out; no point in paying someone to store my stuff if it is not being protected.
I informed Lucy a week prior that I would be moving out so on moving day I went back into the office to let her know that I was all moved out and asked if there was anything else that I needed to do and she said no she would take care of everything. I even asked if I would be getting charges another month’s rent as my rent was due in 3 days and she said no that she would cancel my autopay for me. Three days later I have a monthly charge from Extra Space Storage; so I logged into my account and not only did she not take care of my moving out they also raised the rent for next month; I have only been there since June you would think you would get a notice that rent was going up or there were break ins in the complex but nope; the customer service is awful. I would gladly pay another storage facility more; you get what you pay for and when you have that gut feeling that this is all wrong when you tour the property go with that feeling and do yourself a favor and DO NOT use this facility.

Pros: cheaper than any other place nearby. It’s a convenient location, and my unite is close to the elevator. It’s well lit and quite. My unite has a tall ceiling so it’s helpful to pack plenty of stuff inside.
Cons:The place is fairly run-​down, the floors on the second floor bowing, and the elevator to move your stuff appears unstable. The staff members are challenging at times, as they are limited in what they are able to do in the office. They misquoted me and charged my credit card without my knowledge. I’m still waiting for my refund. There’s no AC, but I also don’t plan on spending much time there.

I had no problems with this location or the unit itself. It was convenient and clean. It served its purpose well and I was able to vacate with ease. The staff was very professional and friendly. They knew their job and everything went smoothly. This was a fast move-​in at the last minute. I was fortunate they had a small unit available at a discounted online price. I am grateful that they took care of my unit rental paperwork so efficiently when I was up to my neck in details dealing with moving long distance as it was. Remember to go to the left when going north on Construction Circle!

I had a 4 hour notice that staging for my home sale was happening the next morning, I went into panic mode as my house was full of my furniture and I was in LA. I jumped online, reserved a unit, and was ready to go in 15 minutes! Upon my arrival to sign contracts and unit assignment I worked with Lucia, very helpful and pleasant. What could have been the most stressful disaster was such a smooth process. I would recommend to anyone! Very reasonable pricing, the property is very well maintained.

Very friendly people at the front desk: I called first and then drove to the location. the paperwork was ready. the lady took the time to show me the unit. The place looks secure, the manger lives on site. It is very clean. So far, very good experience

I am a college student looking for a place to store my stuff while I am moving out of my apartment into a new one. I was looking on the internet to get the cheapest price. I stumbled upon this place. Right away I received a phone call and was able to go in and look at the unit. Tina was very friendly and showed us all the units we wanted to look at. Lucy the manager told us about the first month free deal. I got a whole 10 by 10 unit for only the service fee of $ 33. They were so helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to store their stuff.

Needed storage for the duration of summer. Reserved on line and receptionist got back to me right away asking when I wanted to move in. Receptionist was very helpful and friendly, answer all my questions. Unit was great and first month was free so through my experience would recommend. (2^nd time using this storage facility)

I think this place is great! The receptionist was very kind, helpful, and quick with accommodating us with the storage space we needed. She answered all our questions with ease. I would highly recommend this place to store your things. Plus, first month is free :)

This place is great. No complaints here. The manager Tina was really helpful and accommodating. The unit itself was clean (before and after). The price was very competitive. I would recommend this place to any of my family or friends looking for a cost effective, but quality storage spot!

Heads up all of you who have storage spaces here — there have been a number of spaces burglarized here recently. The manager isn’t notifying anyone or telling people when they come in, so be sure and go check your space immediately so you can report any losses to the police and your insurance company.

Excellent facility and like someone else mentioned, I like that all the units are ground level. They have convenient hours and professional service. Lucy was great, she showed me around and answered all my questions with ease and patience. The grounds seem well secured with many cameras. They also let you use your own lock (many places make you purchase theirs). In the end I got a good value for a nice size space.

I needed a last minute storage unit and I found this company worked out really well. I like that all of the units are on the ground level — i’ve had another unit where I had to take a ramp to the second floor, go inside, etc and it was annoying.
Lucy was very helpful in explaining the units since at first I didn’t really have any idea what size I would need. She was responsive to my questions and got back to me first thing in the morning after I had left a message the night before.
I’d definitely recommend this company to others.

dang prices got raised only after a couple months! Da heck?! canceling my rental at the end of the month and finding something cheaper

The Customer Service here is the worse I have ever experienced. They do not return phone calls. I call each month to make a payment. In November I left two calls which were NEVER returned. I then called their 800 number to make a payment and was told I had to deal directly with the local office. I told them the two calls I made were never returned and I wanted to make a payment. They checked my account and said I was paid up until December 22^nd. I called and made a payment on December 19^th. Just checked my account and they not only took out for December’s payment but November as well and charged a late fee!!! Do these people NOT communicate. Very poorly run business. Would not recommend to anyone!!!
