Cancer Center For Healing

My husband was diagnosed with stage IV Lymphoma and was looking for complimentary treatment to do with chemotherapy. Cancer Center for Healing looked amazing based on their website, but we were disappointed every step of his two appointments.
1) I called the center to make the appointment. He works full-​time in addition to owning his own business. I have made his doctor and dentist appointments for 5 years. When I called, they rudely told me that only my husband could set up his own appointments. I don’t know who I talked to on the phone, but she wasn’t kind about it at all. They finally agree that if my husband called first and gave them permission to talk to me that I would be allowed to set appointments on his behalf.
2) I was given an appointment which I wrote down just as it was said over the phone. 12:30p. I received a phone call a few days before the appointment confirming the appointment for 12:45p. I looked at my calendar saw that it was different assumed maybe I was told 12:30 originally because of time needed for paperwork, and I confirmed the appointment for 12:45. The day of the appointment, I received a voicemail around 11:45 telling me that the doctor was wondering if he could come earlier than his 12:15p appointment! 3 different times. At that point I was driving and there was no way I would make it to a 12:15 because I had planned the drive on a 12:45 appointment. When I got there were were told we were 10 minutes late and the doctor had a meeting so we wouldn’t have the normal appointment. This was very bad scheduling/​organization.
3) We arrived and I was asked to complete all the paperwork for my husband so he could see the doctor right away. I was even asked to sign the forms on his behalf so they could get all his vitals. This really irritated me. I wasn’t allowed to make an appointment, but I was allowed to complete his health history and forge his signature on medical release forms? It didn’t make sense.
4) We saw Dr. Bita, who rushed the appointment and told us we could call her later if we had questions because she wanted to get through everything quickly. She never apologized for having to rush the appointment or the scheduling just said «I don’t why they would schedule this appointment, I have a meeting I can’t miss.» She knew what she was talking about as far as the options and gave us a detailed plan that included a lot of treatments. Then we specifically asked her about vitamin c injections because that is something we had read about and she said «You can do that, but it’s not really treatment for your type of cancer.» She added it to the treatment list and handed us over to another women who gave us a tour and then reviewed the cost of the treatments on the list with us. Of course almost everything on the list was not covered by our insurance. The estimate was about $ 1,500 per week. We knew that we couldn’t afford that so on the call with Dr. Bita after the appointment, we told her we didn’t have the budget for all of the treatments and if we could only do a few which were the most important. She said The vitamin c treatment was the most important and that we could do every other week on some of the other treatments. It was no surprise that the vitamin c treatment, which in our appointment she said wasn’t even for his type of cancer was the most expensive treatment on the list. It seriously made me question whether this center was trying to help my husband in the healing process or just trying to make a profit.
5) Despite the previous experience, we returned to the Center hoping that we were wrong. This time our appointment and confirmation match and we arrive 15 mins early. No one was in the room. After 20 mins, my husband went to the other office to get help. We wait to see the doctor another 25 mins in the room. So after waiting 45 mins after the scheduled time, the doctor walks in with an IV in her own arm, apologizes to us, says she is really sick today and then goes on to tell us how low my husband’s white blood cell count is (1.3) and that his immune system is compromised. Seriously, has no problem coming in «very sick» with an IV after seeing the chart and seeing his immune system is that low. In addition to that, Dr. Bita goes into the hall leaving our door partially open to print something out for us and one of the other doctors or nurses standing out there makes a joke «Dr. Bita is hear getting everyone sick» and they all laugh. So inappropriate. We made the decision after that visit not to return.
The office really had a great deal of treatment options. The tour guide even said they were the «Disneyland» of cancer treatment. We were very hopeful that he could find a lot of help there. However, we felt that they really didn’t care about his health (see #4 & #5) and that they were disorganized and had terrible customer service. I can’t believe a place like this doesn’t realize how important customer service and patient care is.

I was diagnosed with Lung Cancer (Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma) Stage II December 2014 and became a patient of Cancer Center for Healing (CCFH) in March 2015. After failed radiation treatments, I decided I would stay away from harmful treatments. I was seeing another integrative doctor in Westwood LA but my previous doctor did not specialize in holistic cancer treatments so I was very happy when I found CCFH. Cancer is scary and you need to partner with a doctor that specializes in treating cancer to help provide peace of mind and reassurance.
My Doctor for healing is Dr. Bita (IV Treatments, Overall Wellness, Supplement Recommendation, etc.) and also Dr. Bales (PEMF). I cannot say enough positive things about these two exceptional doctors. I go in for treatments once a week and they both make me feel as if I am their only patient. Dr. Bita was thorough during my initial consult and was very specific about the treatments she knew have proven successful with specific condition. My CTC’s (circulating tumor cells have gone down since I started my treatment with Dr. Bita) The Doctors at CCFH take a very compassionate and tailored approach when treating their patients. I know from personal conversations and respectfully «eavesdropping» on their hallway conversations, that they invest a lot of their valuable personal time (weekends), on research, attending alternative healing conferences worldwide, and consulting with other medical professionals (Europe); to gain even more knowledge on medical advances and are eager to share these with their patients.
For those of us that have chosen to manage our cancer via holistic treatments, the experience can be isolating at times. There are not many support groups for our journey. On a very positive note, it can also be very empowering and rewarding. Many people prefer not hear about what all we are doing so CCFH also serves as a support center. Following strict meal plans while others close to us indulge, daily coffee enemas (my favorite part of my treatment, no joke), tons of supplements, weekly Curcumin IV treatments, juicing, etc. are all no easy walk in the park. It takes a lot of energy, time, resources, money, etc. but every day I feel more energized and excited to help in my own healing. I am happy to share that even with my stringent schedule; I have managed to continue working full-​time.
If you are considering being treated at CCFH, I would highly recommend to start off doing the RGCC Testing, this is a critical, worthwhile investment and helps in developing a tailored treatment plan specific to you. I would also recommend you try and schedule your treatments on the same day every week. This helps to develop friendships with others that are managing their health the same way and it can be very therapeutic to share your journey and treatment activities. I look forward to my treatment appointments because I get to see Dr. Bita every week to update her on how I am feeling, discuss any changes, new recommendations, etc. And also to see the other patients that have converted their homes to healing centers just like me.
Prayers to all of you that are experiencing this scary disease, I feel less afraid knowing that God is always with me, helping me along the way and also that there are places like CCFH to guide our healing process.

I did not make it far with the Irvine Cancer Center for Healing facility. I went to their facility with a breast lump. They botched my thermogram. One of their doctors (Dr. Kim) said something was wrong with it, but nobody ever followed up with me until I pushed the issue, and I ended up getting a refund. So my confidence in thermograms right now is zero.
I also had an ultrasound done there. The day of the ultrasound, Dr. Kim said there is a malignancy there. However, when I got the ultrasound report over 3 weeks later, the report classified me as BiRads 0. I had a second ultrasound done elsewhere a few weeks later which classified me as BiRads 5, and resulted in a breast cancer diagnosis, which was confirmed by surgical removal of the growth.
No definitive treatment plan was ever presented to me at the Center, and everything seemed to be a confused mess. I was only told potential treatments available on 3 different conference calls, which I paid for each time. I would call to discuss my case, and instead got some incoherent statements, nothing about my actual pathology, and then paid for a monologue extolling the virtues of the treatment center’s options. The discussions with the physician were basically a lot of babbling and no concrete progress.
In addition, I did not find compassion to be present. When I told Dr. Kim of my diagnosis, the comments were «oh that is the worst type, the prognosis is terrible.» I was in shock.
So unfortunately I will not be continuing with this facility. I applaud Dr. Connealy’s attempts at an integrative facility and I wanted it to be the place for me. But as far as I am concerned, their practice is definitely sloppy and I cannot afford that while dealing with cancer.
