E-Z Rent-A-Car

I rented from advantage for 5 days last year and my car was about $ 100. I got the insurance and everything. Tell me why my exact stay this year has costed me $ 500?
I feel incredibly ripped off and swindled. I repeatedly spoke with the attendant and she spoke in circles and my cost was never fixed. I’m still reeling from the experience.
I would never rent from here again. I expected to pay about $ 200, not $ 500! And then they charge a deposit? Ridiculous. For an economy car with manual roll down Windows!

I waited in line for over one hour with my tired and hungry baby. On a Saturday, there are only two workers on the job, and they’re aggressively upselling every person in line. NEVER again!!!

This place is awful. Landed at 12:30– couldn’t get them to answer the phone to call a shuttle. I took an über to the location. I am currently waiting in line for over an hour. So slow. Tons of people in line. No one working. I’ll just pay for a more expensive rental elsewhere. Never again.
Literally just took an über home to find something local. I’m going to fight the charge on my card because this is insane.

This place is the absolute worst. I would give it negative stars if I could.
During my entire stay in California, I actually had a pleasant experience with this company. The shuttle from LAX comes quite often and the drivers are kind. Luckily, my flight landed at the perfect time and I did not have to wait at all to speak to a representative. Of course it was expensive as hell, but that was expected. The compact car they rented us (a Hyundai) was nice, clean, and ran smoothly. We returned it with no charge, and I still have the documents to prove it. It was like a dream that was too good to be true. Yeah, it was too good to be true.
This past week (almost three months after I had rented the car) I noticed an unauthorized charge of $ 54 on my bank account. After calling and emailing them for DAYS, I finally get through to a representative after holding for almost 20 minutes… and all she does is direct me to another department. They claim it was a toll fee, but I swear to sweet Jesus I did not go through a toll during my entire stay there (and plus, why did the charge come three months late?). Anyway, I get directed to the toll number but I don’t even get put on hold to wait to speak to someone; I’m automatically hung up after I leave a voicemail. And from these past couple days of calling and being frustrated with the worst customer service ever, I already know all of my voicemails and emails are going to be disregarded.
So now I’m pissed, I still have a confusing $ 54 charge on my bank account, and no concrete reasoning behind it because I can’t get in touch with a god damn representative.

You have been warned… I didn’t read reviews cause I didn’t think a national car rental business could be this bad… IT IS…
I book my car a month in advance, had a great deal for $ 139. We arrived at LAX in the evening, got our bags and went out to the shuttle curb, it was 11:30 pm (remember that our bodies are on East coast time 3 hours ahead), We waited for a hour and half and no shuttle, several of us were there at the curb. All the others shuttles circles many many many times. All of us called the office and no one would answer the phone, EVER. When we called customer service (if you could get someone) they would tell you that they can only make reservations and not be able to help us, nor was there ever a supervisor that would talk to us. So we decided to call an Über to take us the office. We arrived at the office at 1am now and they told us oh the shuttle isn’t running? I wonder why not. They and the manager supposedly had no idea why the shuttle wasn’t running. Mind you I am traveling with my 12 year old with special needs. We are exhausted from flying from the east coast. So we get there and they tell every one they don’t have any cars, yet we all had reservations. (((Please remember this when booking, they take reservations but they don’t hold any cars for them. So you might not get a car.)))) 2 am comes and the manager tries to give me a car that the bumper is literally falling off. I told him I still have a 2 hour drive to Palm Springs, I can’t drive an unsafe car with my child. He goes in the back and finds a Santa Fe with a cracked windshield. It might be the only car they have till 6 or 7 am. I take it. We get to our destination at 5 am. We should of been there about 11:30.
On the 3^rd day I get a phone call from someone in the office, I am driving and in California you can’t talk on a cell phone and drive with out bluetooth, I told her to call me back. No one did. The next day I called customer service and they scared the shit out of me, because they said that I had supposably only rented the car for a day and I had it 2 days over and they could call and report it stolen. I told them no way I had a reservation till Saturday night. ((remember I am 2.5 hours away from their office)) I called the store very happy I got the lady who talked to me the day before she took my info and called me back later and told me that I was fine and supposably someone with the same exact name and city had rented the same day. YEA RIGHT.
Ok now for the fun return. When we get there it is over crowded, about 30 cars trying to check in thank God I left many hours early. When I get up the guy checks my car everything is fine tells me my final price is going to be $ 500. I told him ability not, my reservation is for $ 139 and this was the only broken car they had for me. He told me to go inside and talk to the manager. It was the manager from the other day when I rented, He remembered me. He adjusted the bill but charged me for all kinds of extra stuff. My reservation said the total for my rental was $ 139, he charged me $ 173.72. He said that my reservation is only a base. UMMMM no it’s not. It was total price out the door. He argued with me for a bit and I just gave up cause I needed to get to the airport and get checked in. I figured when I get home I would work it out. NOPE… if you call and get through to customer service they will just tell you they can’t do anything, it is up to the location manager to handle it. Well that is who did this so I knew I was screwed… NEVER EVER EVER will i use this company. Please remember that Advantage is the same company in the same office. We had such an amazing vacation, this rental experience is the only thing that kind of ruined our perfect Vacation

Despite all the reviews on the site, I tried to rent my car on the EZ, bad luck.
They advertise one thing and when it arrives it is not what you bought .
I rented a car which would use my insurance, but unfortunately forced me to purchase insurance which claimed to be mandatory in
the state of California. It is that my insurance had this same option .
I refused because I had a cheaper booking an SUV with all expenses paid in Alamo, I took my family and went to Alamo ‚
At Alamo you need not be attended by anyone, just do everything in advance by the site.
This prevents the grumpy attendants .
EZ never more, will communicate to my friends who do not rent here.

The absolute worst experience ever! The shuttle takes forever. The company auto charged me for gas even though I completely filled the car seconds before returning it across the street! I called customer service 4 times for a credit, sent 3 emails… showed proof of gas receipt. I held on the phone one time for 20 minutes. They never answered. I wrote emails to Customer service and included the proof of calls with wait times to help them improve their service but apparently no one really works in customer service because I’ve heard nothing back. It is the worst ever. Not worth the savings AT ALL.

This place is garbage. As others have mentioned, 30 – 45 minutes of waiting at LAX for the shuttle to pick you up. I had prepaid for a specific vehicle type, and got there to find out I had no choice but to get a different type. WORST OF ALL… I wasn’t given the receipt upon dropping it off (which is one me), and when I arrived back home two days later, I discovered they tacked on additional charges that I never authorized!!! Impossible to get in touch with them because the phone there will just ring 30, 40, 50 times until you hang up. I’ve rented cars from a half dozen or so dealerships in the LAX area over the years, but none has ever been close to this bad.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I didn’t use Unilocal before I booked my rental. Big mistake on my part. I assumed using Priceline I would be ok since I figured they would check all there partners. Now I’m in a big ordeal and neither PRICELINE or Ez are getting back to me and it’s been 3 days! First off when I rented my vehicle I was happy I got a good rate. I get there check out the car service was terrible I was suppose to be the primary and instead they made my add on driver primary and had all my info as his. Then we get to the vehicle and it literally looked like the car had gotten into a accident minutes before they gave it to us. Well I got a low rate maybe this is what I get for going with a cheaper rate. Then I pack the truck with the suitcases and open the doors of the car. I am PUNCHED in the face with a huge MARIJUANA smell. I went to let them know about the smell and I was told to just leave the Windows down and air it out. RIDICULOUS I WAS APPAULED. THEN I RETURN THE VEHICLE AND and when I should have been given a credit for he car I was charged 3 more times. For a total of over 500 $. DONT EVER USE THIS PLACE. Now I’m even skeptical of PRICELINE!!!

Despite the horrible Unilocal reviews, I decided to call and reserve a vehicle to give the place a try. Well, now I know why they have horrible reviews, I called twice and the phone rang more than 7 rings and still no answer. Horrible Service! You would at least expect a Representative to answer the phone and I couldn’t even get that. I wont be coming here and would not recommend to anyone. Moving forward it’s best to answer all calls within 3 rings.

EZ /​Advantage Rental Car LAX.SUCKS. THIS COMPANY SUCKS… I reserved a car at LAX for 12am on a Wednesday. You can’t reach this COMPANY on the phone. We waited for over a hour at the car rental shuttle pick up area. When the driver finally did show up he told everyone waiting the only people he could pick up were the ones that prepaid because they were out of cars. They only had vans left. Only one person had prepaid. The rest of us were left stranded at 1:30am. NO VEHICLE NO WAY TO GET TO OUR HOTEL IN LONG BEACH. We had to cancel our hotel in Long Beach and pay for that hotel anyway. Then get another room at LAX with a shuttle. Extra $$$$$ we didn’t plan on or really have for additional hotel and shuttles. Pay extra use a different rental car company.

Ended up booking a rental here because my friend linked me to their cheap prices. Don’t be fooled by that. I got to the airport late I’d been up almost 24 hours I just wanted to get my car and go. The only good thing about this place is their shuttle arrived promptly and transported me to their hellhole of a business. I got there and there were two people helping two customers, I was first in line. I hear one person arguing with the person behind the counter because they’d already paid yet this company was trying to tack on additional «taxes». Seemed kinda scummy but I hadn’t paid yet and was never going to pay more than I was quoted.
Half an hour later I’m finally about to go up when this random guy steps in front «I just have a quick question». He starts to ask basic questions but it quickly devolves into him saying they never answer their phone and he could never find info about his policy or extending it. He finally finished and at a full hour after I was first in line I’m called to the counter.
The attendant immediately informs me their system is slow. I’m a bit wary but I’m like yeah that happens it’s fine. He proceeds to play games on his phone while waiting for the system to respond. He then tells me the reservation is not for another two days. I show him my phone where the pickup date is clearly that day and he says «oh sorry the system is slow». This is when I start to get irritated. I have a computer science degree and work as a data scientist. I know how systems work and them being slow has nothing to do with the date being completely wrong. He then asks what kind of car I booked, he’d know but «the system is slow».
At this point I start to get legitimately annoyed because I know I’m being lied to and I honestly have no clue why. He disappears and my friend is like «an über there and back is only a bit more than the rental». I said «if he doesn’t come back with paperwork let’s go». He comes back and I’m like do you have papers for me to sign? He’s just like «sorry our system is slow». I’m a pretty calm person but I almost lost it. Like he literally left and took 5 minutes to come back with nothing? They clearly had no record of my reservation, clearly were extremely incompetent, and outright lying to my face about it. As politely as I could I told him «sorry I’m done here», told my friend to book the über, and left.
Time between getting there as first in line and leaving before any paperwork whatsoever was brought to me? An hour and 15 minutes. Avoid this place like the plague, their low price is not worth the hassle. I’m still watching my credit card because I left it as part of my reservation and am half expecting them to try to charge me. You’re much better off paying a few extra bucks to a more legit rental place or ubering/​taxiing wherever you need to go.

I only have it one star because I had too! We came to drop off my family member to get a car, first there is no parking on there lot and none on the street, Due to the shuttles taken up the street space. We have been waiting now for 30 minutes. The person in front of us have already been waiting for 20 or more. There is only one person at the counter checking in and the line is just crazy long. Every five minutes a new shuttle comes dropping off people but the line still does not move… I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Don’t bother! They don’t pick up the phone so you can’t call and confirm your reservation or ask any questions. And to make matters worse, they don’t carry normal insurance on their cars! I’m in town from abroad and don’t have US insurance, and was unable to rent from these guys because they demand you to have proof of insurance, something not asked for by other car rental places, including discount one’s such as Fox’s/Payless’. They should make this more apparent on their website and on the third party sites that make bookings for them (
where I booked from told me to bring ID and a credit card and provided no further information on E-Z-Car’s policies). Basically, this place is shady, and to make matters worse, they were rude about informing me of their unusual policy, telling me ‘I should have read their fine print.’ To which I say: you should make your unusual fine print ‘BOLD PRINT’ since to not make it clear is to mislead customers who expect you to have the same basic coverage as other car rental agencies. I didn’t read the fine print because I expected you to be on par with your competitors– my mistake!

This probably by far the worse place ever! I’ve called them over 30 times in regards to my vehicle and rental agreement but the don’t not answer the phone at all! The phone rings and rings and rings. Such amazing service you guys are giving! Never ever rent from here. Take your business else where!
