What do you do when you have family in town and don’t have time to whip up a Martha Stewart-​esque breakfast? Sneak out to Taylor’s Bakery before anyone wakes up and come home with donuts and coffee cakes for everyone! Their selection is pretty good (please make a blueberry cake donute PLEASE!) and their prices are reasonable. The service was friendly and my favorite part was that they accepted credit and debit cards which many little bakeries don’t.
I have had cakes made from Taylor’s before and they are pretty good. I have had better from other local bakeries, especially when it comes to unique flavors. These guys have your standard chocolate and vanilla cakes down though!

If you live in Indianapolis and need a cake this is the place to go. They have the small town bakery feel and quality with a good price.
Great people to work with and they made me exactly what I needed. I will be going back the next time I need a birthday cake!

Ok, I fancy myself a self made expert on sweets. I love to eat, and gave quite a sweet tooth. I have eaten baked goods all over the planet, but I fear that old school family run bakeries like this are a dying noble breed.
I found this place on instinct, and drove out of my way on a hunch, and it was so worth the trip! The cinnamon Danish I bought my family is one of the best things I have ever had in my mouth. I am now having fantasy thoughts of driving back there from Chicago.
Just as precious as the delicious cake was the classic old school service of the dear ladies behind the counter. They offered me tasty samples, and steered me in the right direction of the individual fried Danish, which I inhaled before I reached the car. Decadent!
Wow…just get here. Enjoy. And patronize this (and other great mom and pop businesses) so they don’t disappear from the landscape. We can’t afford to lose a gem like this.

My first birthday cake in Indianapolis was from Taylor’s bakery. The term death by chocolate adequately describes the chocolate ganache cake. I’d highly recommend it for a chocolate lover. It can be too much chocolate vey quick though so go for a small slice. They have ice cream there too, but I’ve never tried it. I went back on Fat Tuesday and had some great cake donuts in Mardi Gras colors. There isn’t seating here, it’s a take out bakery. (and that’s fine with me, but good for others to know too!)

Wow. Taylor’s is a treasure. I stopped in on a whim and was greeted with smiles and a sample donut hole. That mouthful of sugary goodness melted in my mouth while I did a panoramic spin. Cookies, cakes, popcorn, ice cream, donuts, house made candies, chocolates, petit fours… Heaven! I bought an anniversary cake and they happily, and quickly personalized it for me. Taylor’s will be my go-​to bakery forevermore!

I went to Taylor’s for some King cake bliss on Fat Tuesday and the office fell in love with the cake!
The delicious coffee cake-​esque New Orleans style treat was all I could have wanted and more! The staff here was awesome and truly knew their cakes and were willing and happy to help me decide what I needed.
Our cake did not end up having a baby was the only downside, but hey, the whole city was hitting them up for cake… I can let that one slide ;)

I’m so lucky to live so close to such a great establishment, I really like this place and I love the donuts. Get your special birthday cake here! You better get there early on the weekends, it gets really packed and busy. And they run out of some things to beware

Holy wow! We stopped in after seeing this place several times while exploring our new city and we are ever so glad we did!
We’ve been here three times in the last month :) the Cheese Danishes are completely delicious, so are the E’claires, Cinnamon Rolls and Donut Holes! A neighbor kept an eye on our house while we were away recently and we brought them a box of Taylor pastries to say thank you! Also, I totally want a birthday cake from here in a cat print, because my nickname is Kitty of course!

Friendly and personalized service each time! A favorite afternoon treat for my little ones. Chocolate & M&M covered pretzels are a fave of one and snicker doodles are a fave of the other. They are known for cakes though I’ve never had the pleasure to order one. Maybe I will for our next bday. Great gifts like gourmet popcorn and turtles are also sold. Great place!

I needed some cookies made for work that had the IU trident on them with the edible photo paper stuff, I wanted them individually wrapped, and relatively affordable since I was working with a small budget. Taylor’s was able to deliver on all of that, and the cookies were actually really good too.
The morning I went in to pick them up I walked in and my senses were overloaded by the smell of frosting and sugar. I couldn’t help it, I ended up somehow with the cookies I was picking up as well as a huge cheese danish. It was so good. It makes me a little sad that this place is nowhere near me, because it’s a bit too far out of the way to just stop by. But I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again if I need baked goods for work.

I love their cake donuts. They also have very delicious cookies, covered in unique and delicious decorations. Sometimes we also get their sweetheart coffee cakes. They are truly decadent.

How do I know I love Taylor’s Bakery?
Here’s an example. A few months ago, Taylor’s had one of their delivery vans stolen. I remember reading the story and thinking to myself «This hurts.» It then occurred to me that I had no genuine connection to Taylor’s. I had no particular reason to be touched by this story other than the fact that it was yet another crime happening in our city.
It just really genuinely bothered me that a local, family-​owned and genuinely friendly business would experience such a thing.
Yeah, I actually care about Taylor’s Bakery.
With two locations, 62^nd & Allisonville and Fishers, Taylor’s Bakery is the kind of family-​owned business that it’s easy to get attached to because they take both their products and their service seriously. While this review is addressing the Indy location, I’ve never actually been to the one in Fishers, the truth is that I can’t imagine there being too much difference between the two locations. The Indy location is located in a small strip center just East of Glendale Town Center in a building that also houses a CVS, Dollar General, and a handful of smaller businesses. It’s a nondescript locale that has been made up to feel homey as soon as you enter the bakery. It’s easily wheelchair friendly and there’s such a steady flow of customers that I can’t imagine someone wouldn’t open the door for you if it was needed.
Yesterday, as happens on occasion, I was driving by Taylor’s and thought to myself «I need a donut. Now.» So, I stopped and picked up three (Who eats just one donut? Freak!) chocolate frosted cake donuts. When I came home last night, it occurred to me to look up my review of Taylor’s and, much to my surprise, I discovered I didn’t have one.
Wow.
It’s easy, or maybe at least tempting, to forget about bakeries like Taylor’s with the growth of the gourmet bakery concept in the Indianapolis area.
The truth is that I’ve probably had better donuts, I’m thinking particularly of Long’s, but I’ve seldom experienced the complete package like I do at Taylor’s — great products, great customer service, reasonable prices, and that sense of belonging that for me defines the best businesses. Heck, even Long’s can’t quite master that last one.
Taylor’s does.
Are you the type of person who forgets about that birthday cake you were supposed to pick up? Taylor’s handles custom orders with ONE day’s notice. Try to do that at one of the gourmet shops. They’ll look at you like you’re absolutely insane, promise they’ll try, then jack up the price.
Taylor’s can do it. They do birthday cakes, wedding cakes, breads/​rolls, donuts, cookies, pies, and other specialty cakes. I’ve never had a bad product from them — their donuts taste fresh even at the end of the day (I’m giving you the evil eye, Jack’s).
You know what’s even better? I’ve never had anything less than friendly service. It ranges from competent service to «welcome back» to «Old friend, I haven’t seen you in a while.»
Seriously.
The prices are reasonable, unlike most of the gourmet shops that think $ 2, $ 3, and $ 4 for a donut is justified by their spiffy little logos and sprinkling god knows what on top of the donut.
In case you’re wondering, it’s not. This ain’t Tiffany’s, just give me a donut.
I contemplated moving down to a 4-​star review, but the truth is that Taylor’s Bakery is very likely my favorite donut shop in the city. I love Long’s, but the service frequently is lacking and the line occasionally leaves me wondering if it’s actually worth it. I like some of the area other area smalltown shops, but when it comes down to it Taylor’s gives me everything I want from a bakery — incredibly good products bought from incredibly kind people at incredibly fair prices.
Taylor’s Bakery wins.

I have fallen in love with Taylor’s! I have had a few call in orders over the past few months, and Taylor’s is always on top of it. I call in 15 minutes before wanting to pick up donuts, and they are ready when I walk in the door. Everyone at my work loves it when I pick up some treats for them, and their prices are very reasonable.
I also was in need of a cake for a bridal shower I was hosting, and they did an excellent job. The bride and groom wanted an Indy 500 themed shower, and Taylor’s did a custom cake with race flags, etc. and it was beautiful. I called it in mid-​week before the shower, and it was ready to go at 10am on Saturday.
You cannot ask for better service, better treats, and their pricing is fabulous! I am thankful I live so close, and can stop often!

I like Taylor’s Bakery… A LOT!!!
Now, true to Hoosier form, I am madly in love with Long’s Donuts. Their cinnamon apple fries and yeast donuts are by far, the best donuts I’ve ever had. I will never take that from them. But that is all that I order there. And the line is NEVER short. You also have to use cash only.
Which brings me to Taylors: Their display of donuts, cookies, cakes, pies and other miscellaneous sweet treats is delightful for the eyes and confusing for the growling stomach. You might accidentally buy lots of pastries when you only went in to order a cake. My most recent trip to Taylor’s saw me hanging out in front of the complimentary donut hole basket. They were soft with the perfect density. I ate two and tried to sneak more. In my head, I ate about 10. I ordered six. I ate all six within 20 minutes and it only took that long because I didn’t get any milk and was trying to savor the flavor of every bite.
If you’ve never been to Taylor’s now is a great time to go! Why? Because it’s summertime and what better way to enjoy the season than to enjoy it with the presence of yeast !!! Everything looks great so be prepared to tell the clerk to «hold on just a second», while you sort through your hunger munchies on the best option available.
If ever there were a place I liked better or at least, just as much as Long’s Bakery, it would be Taylor. Don’t let the lack of a line wrapped around the back of the building fool you: This place is a delicious rival! Krispy who? Dunk what?

Always great service. You can’t go wrong with anything you pick. I recommend the gator tail coffee cake and red velvet donut.
I see they make ice cream now too, looking forward to trying that as well.
The key lime pretzels are also extremely good. Be sure to taste the free sample when you visit.

I love their tiny glazed donuts! (And so does my dog.) Their eclairs are great as well. Always fast, good service, and full cases. Nostalgia ultra. My grandfather used to get us smiley face sugar cookies and I always think of him when I stop in.

This is my average of 2 visits. First visit was three stars. Place was busy but it was staffed for it. I got the high school girl that was pretty rude and the time it took to ring me up the other staff members were ringing up their 2^nd wave of customers. I got a gift card and two sugar cookies. The sugar cookies were not good!!! Too powdery an tasteless. I know some sugar cookies are made like that but i like real sugar cookies. The ladies at marsh in castleton Clearwater make the best sugar cookies around.
The second time was 4.6 stars. The older woman was very kind and professional. Always smiling. We ordered cupcakes which were amazing!!! I specially came because I had a real king cake from Mannys in New Orleans and was craving one. Now king cakes are all different down there so I wasn’t expecting the same type of flavors but I was exciting an amazing king cake. It was good but not great. More like a cinnamon bun with light icing and some sparkles. Just taking of half a star for that. You can try it with filling too if you prefer. They are the only place in Indy this year that sells king cakes. So as long as you didn’t just come back from New Orleans you gotta try this!

I have no idea why I haven’t put in a review for Taylor’s before now! I have had many fabulous cookies and cakes from them over the years. The cakes are so much better than the grocery store varieties! You can so easily taste the real butter and other ingredients like grandma used to use to bake cakes from scratch! Prices are extremely reasonable. The cookies are fabulous! This is a great place to go if you need fun decorated cookies for a holiday party (they had fun turkey cookies in the case today!). They also have unfrosted cookies in classic varieties such as chocolate chip that are really top notch!
What prompted this review today is that in addition to always providing great chocolate chip cookies to finishers after the Monumental Marathon, this year they gave coupons for free quarts of ice cream to all of us insane folks who ran one of the races last Saturday in the freezing cold (I’m only half-​crazy so just ran the half-​marathon). I hadn’t tried their ice cream yet, and absolutely could not pass up this opportunity! I just had a bowl of the triple chocolate ganache, and oh my, I think I need to go for another run! It is so rich and delicious! I will be back to try the peppermint after polishing off this quart.
Staff are always friendly and helpful! It is totally worth a separate trip to come here for baked goods!

If you’ve lived in the Indianapolis area for more than five minutes and have an affinity for baked goods, you may have asked where to find a good bakery. Chances are, if you did so, the answer you received was either Long’s or Taylor’s. Having grown up just north of the Indianapolis area, my bakery loyalty actually lies with yet a third establishment, but my curiosity has been piqued nonetheless.
I visited on a Saturday at around 11am. It was definitely hopping! I was thankful for the time I had to wait in line (albeit brief) as it gave me a chance to soak in their offerings. Gorgeous offerings, I might add. Beautiful cakes, cute cookies, and fluffy donuts. I hadn’t quite settled on my selections when it was my turn at the counter. I knew I wanted to try the cookies so I selected two happy face cookies for me and Husband. They reminded me of the cookies from the mall when I was a kid. I grabbed a few yeast donuts, too. In my humble opinion, these are the best measure of a bakery. Also, my favorite donuts. I asked the very lovely lady assisting me what she would recommend I try and she tossed in a pumpkin spice donut. The best part? All these goodies were less than $ 10.
The verdict? The donuts were okay. They didn’t come close to unseating my beloved hometown bakery, but were respectable representations of donut-​type yummies. The cookies were good, but nothing remarkable as far as taste is concerned. I will say they had some of the cutest cookies ever in that case. Visually they were super winners! So, Taylor’s did not take top dog spot, but definitely proved to be a good bakery. Is it better than Long’s? We shall see.

I recently lifted a self imposed ban on Taylor’s Bakery. Yes, it was that bad. I just couldn’t get enough. I have a killer sweet tooth, am a sucker for icing, and Taylor’s has the best iced cookies EVER. Taylor’s even provides the cookies for the ISO’s Yuletide Concert.
Not only are their cookies delicious so are their cakes. I love purchasing the small birthday cakes for friends. They have a choice of white and chocolate. Plus, they are less than $ 10. Always a wonderful treat!
From the cakes to the donuts to the cookies, you are bound to find something delicious. They even carry ice cream and popcorn including a special Colts flavored popcorn for all you football fans. They also carry helium filled balloons if you are in need of an extra gift.
Can’t make it to the bakery until closing? No worries! Taylor’s prides itself on making sure the shelves are always full of your favorite treats up until close. Another Indianapolis staple!
