One South

Great group spot. We usually head over here for a coworkers birthday. They have a menu, but most people end up ordering the salad and pasta deal. The salad bar includes hard boiled eggs, veggies, cottage cheese, salad and the toppings, as well as a soup of the day.
The pasta bar is great. You have a choice of bow tie, tortellini, penne pasta, or whole wheat pasta. They offer a bunch of different meats — chicken, sausage, shrimp, etc. You add the veggies and they cook it right in front of you. The last few choices are the sauces — Alfredo, marinara, or spicy red pepper. I love mixing the spicy red pepper sauce and the Alfredo sauce.
They bring out a delicious cheesy bread as well. Tip is included if you are in a party of 6 or more people.
Definitely a fun spot for everyone to get something they like. It’s a fun atmosphere. It can be a little slow if it is a busy day, so keep your eye on the line and hop in when you can. Wish Brian (the pasta chef) was still here. He kept things moving along very quickly.

This place has really taken a turn for the worse. Brian (the pasta chef) no longer works here and has been replaced by 2 line cooks. However, those 2 people can’t even work half as fast as Brian did. He could singlehandedly have 3 pans going at the same time and keep the line moving. Now the line backs up 10 deep.
Also, the quality of the buffet is not up to snuff anymore. They eliminated the pre-​prepared hot pasta dish (which was always good for a quick trip because you don’t have to wait in line). Probably because the 2 line cooks can’t keep up with their custom orders.
There were also less choices on the salad bar. No onions, no mozzarella balls. And their sad excuse for croutons were some day-​old cubes of bread.
And the bread pudding. This used to be the perfect ending for lunch. Now it’s just this sad, dry pan of flaccid bread. There was almost no sauce on it at all.
Service was pretty slow. Once you are seated, and they bring your drinks, then they are nowhere to be found. It took forever to get a refill on our bread and beverages.
Alas, I fear I may not be coming back to One South for the lunch buffet. Not only has the service gotten slower and the food become worse (and less bountiful), but management has also eliminated the 25% off discount for PNC Center employees. That all adds up to me taking my business elsewhere.

Really not worth $ 17. You would find more options on a Golden Corral breakfast buffet for less money and the quality of food would be about the same.

Décor is really upscale but misleading. This is a generic hotel restaurant that you can tell is supplied by some big, bland food service thingy.
There’s just nothing like spending $ 20 for a breakfast buffet, only to have EVERYTHING that’s supposed to be hot be ice cold.
Also, the wait staff was hovering to the point of intrusiveness, and I don’t think I’ve ever eaten anywhere where the check was delivered before I sat down and picked up my fork to take my first bite. (I realize my dining partner and I both got the buffet, but we were planning to possibly order something else — which we didn’t end up doing.)

I’ve only had breakfast here. They have a standard menu and a buffet. I have only gotten things off the buffet in the interest of time.
Not stellar, but not the worst I’ve had. Decent service. Clean, minimalist décor.

Located inside the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis Hotel, this venue takes pride in the «farm to fork» style of cuisine. My colleagues and I went there for lunch. I had their special salad served with a corn yogurt dressing. I didn’t want to go too heavy on the dressing since it looked as though it was still fermenting. My colleague and I noticed an effervescence which we felt was a defect. Otherwise the food was very good.

Clean and modern décor and music, and a salad/​soup/​pasta lunch buffet. I did the make-​your-​own pasta and was excited that pine nuts were an option. Service was excellent.

Breakfast wasn’t impressive, service was poor. Never offered a refill on coffee. Hubby asked for water and hot sauce but neither made it to the table. Plates were never cleared. Disappointing, but since the two adult buffets were part of a package, I can’t complain too much, but we left there and immediately went across the lobby to Starbucks

We tried breakfast here and it was not bad for the price.
They have buffet and it has various choices).
If you like omelettes (they make it fresh).
They make fresh waffles or pancakes.
They have healthy alternative food.
They serve meat stuff (I can’t comment on it because I don’t eat meat)

The atmosphere is descent and the lay out of the tables are not too close to each other (not like other restaurants were they packed you like sardines).

This review is not on the food, as I didn’t get to try what I ordered. My girlfriend is vegan and Indianapolis happens to be a city lacking in vegan and vegetarian options. When we saw they had a Vegan Breakfast Burrito at One South we were excited since we were staying in the Hyatt for her birthday. We were promptly greeted and seated and our waitress came over. It was 11:05 and but the hostess let us know that they were extending their breakfast hours as the hotel was busy. We ordered the breakfast burrito and went to waiting. At 11:30 we were still waiting and our server said our food would be out shortly. About five minutes later she came out and told us that what we had ordered was on the breakfast menu and so they couldn’t make that for us, but they had went ahead and made us ravioli instead. We obviously said no to the ravioli as it was not at all what we ordered and I wasn’t going to pay $ 15 plus tip for something I had not ordered. We kindly said no thank you and left. I would be willing to give it a second try since what I saw on other people’s tables looked good. My biggest issue is that we wasted a half-​hour when they could have simply told us «Sorry, breakfast is over,» and we would have gone elsewhere. Overall a big disappointment.

Service is hit or miss, but usually pretty good (sometimes servers are MIA). I love going at lunchtime for the pasta buffet. Chef Brian is very personable and remembers what you like! My favorite combo: meatballs, sundried tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, peas, artichokes, and bowtie pasta with the red pepper pesto and marinara. Can’t beat it.
They would do well to add another pasta line. It gets really backed up to the point I never bother to try to go on a Friday. Also, the kind of tea they use is awful. It always tastes overbrewed.

I went here with a group of coworkers at lunchtime. I think this was the worst service I have ever had, it was like they really didnt want our business. We had a group of 10 young professionals and they complained about us and acted like it was a hassle to even let us eat there. We had to ASK for menus, no one refilled our drinks, I had to get up and hound a server to even get a refill, I had to get up and hound a server to even ring up our checks. The pasta bar was pretty good but the line was so ridiculously long and they kept running out of ingredients. Oh we ran out of broccoli, oh we just ran out of shrimp. Food was good after you got it but I dont know if I would ever go back as the employees were very incompetent and rude.

This restaurant hidden in the Hyatt hotel is very chic. It has a fun atmosphere and for lunch you can have the pasta bar which has a salad bar, soup, and custom-​made pasta.
This is a lot of food! I wanted to take the rest of my pasta with me. They said no. That’s my only complaint. I either have to eat the rest of my pasta now and be uncomfortable or I could take it with me and be happy to have another meal for later.

Came here for the pasta bar at lunch and was not disappointed. Excellent flavor and worth the wait. A little pricey if you only go for one serving. Don’t waste time with anything but the red pepper sauce.

Within the Hyatt building which is divided into two sides; one business suites and the other the hotel, you’ll find One South smack in the middle of the two.
It’s one of the fancier options available, compared to a subway, pizza joint and a Starbucks.
I frequently here for business meetings over lunch.
They normally toot the lunch pasta bar a lot; 90% of lunch goers, get the pasta bar, so sometimes it’s packed but the line moves pretty quickly.
The salad bar is pretty amazing except I would appreciate labels informing me, if the pasta salad has something I cannot eat.
However, the made to order pasta is what I have a major issue with;
1) they use way too much oil.
2) the sauce is questionable
3) multiple times I had a pasta entrée that had water, that wasn’t cooked off in my pasta, which made my pasta kinda like soup.
Where these things lack, service picks up. It is impeccable. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and offers great suggestions.

I enjoyed the buffet meal. For $ 14 you get all you can eat soup, salad and pasta. And the 25 percent off for downtown workers can’t be beat! Pasta bar line can get long so come early. Pasta chef is very friendly!

Had breakfast here during my recent stay. Very nice and clean inside. Definitely feels fresh and new.
Perfectly cooked eggs, and delicious breakfast potatoes. Very good coffee as well, but did think that it was a bit over priced. Nice and convenient for guests of the Hyatt.

The Eagle’s Nest is closed for renovations so we decided to try One South. It’s a nice location inside the Hyatt on the main level. The space has nice décor and is quiet. Our service was good.
I had the lobster bisque soup and shared some of my wife’s caesar salad. The soup was very good, but it wasn’t outstanding. The tomato bisque soup at Noodles and Company was just as good. I expected more lobster for the price. The salad was very bland. I don’t think I would get it again. The fresh yeast bread was very good. I had the $ 36 filet with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The filet was good, but not great. I have had a filet in about every restaurant in Indianapolis and this was fair at best. There was too much sauce and it covered up the taste of the beef. We had a
coupon, but it still felt like we paid way too much. We could have dinned at St. Elmo’s or Ruth’s Chris for the same price and would have received a much better food.

i Love a cook to order omelet, which btw one of the better ones i’ve had, that may have been from me craving mushrooms all night at work?

several items are served in cast iron obvious to keep them warm, but just after therpy from a recent surgery, kinda tricky
seems the bar was set up by a Lefty or i had just followed hubby?
other that the potatoes being cold, everything was fine!

My wife and I spent a low-​key Thanksgiving lunch at One South. Not having eaten here or at the Hyatt otherwise, I can only say the food was delicious and service exceptional (for a holiday buffet).
Recommended if you’re spending a quiet Turkey day in Indy. Just make sure to save for the calories!
