Chancellors is a small bar/restaurant in the University Tower on the IUPUI campus. It is a convenient place for people to eat and grab a quick drink after a long day of classes. I wouldn’t say it is a great place for kids just because it is a bar and it just has more of an adult atmosphere. I also did not notice kid options on the menu. Service is great for the people at the bar but if you sit in the actual restaurant part service is pretty slow. The food is usually ok. This time I got the turkey sandwich which has tomato pesto on it and comes with a side of freshly made chips. My boyfriend got a sun dried tomato pasta with chicken in it. He said the chicken tasted kind of funny but otherwise it was good. We also got the«ketchup and fries» for desert which is pound cake sliced like fries with raspberry dipping sauce and it was pretty good. Because I’m a student at IUPUI and I am on a budget the prices are a little too high for me to come to often. However, I am sure for the over 21 crowd it is a nice spot on campus.

It’s not bad for a beer on campus, well maybe fried chicken and fries. The service could use some more improvement, and the food quality too.

Just had the salmon Niçoise salad. Asked to add avocado. They only added 3 tiny slices so I am taking a star away. But the salad was very, very good! Basil dill dressing was great. Soup of the day was a southern chicken and rice. Pretty tasty but too thick for me. Overall pretty pleased especially given it was hotel food so gave then back the star!

This is my first experience at Chancellors post renovation. It is an excellent location to meet colleagues from across campus. The food was pricey and disappointing in quality. The lunch was $ 20 for coke, ½ BLT and soup and chips. The chips were stale. The soup was ok but nothing I would order again. The bread was greasy. The service was good and the location. But I certainly miss the excellent food we had available here on campus.

I’m on IUPUI campus most of the week, so I was pleased to find a place to eat outside of the campus center. This has become a regular stop for me, if that tells you anything. Great burger, good variety of specials, and a friendly and welcoming staff. If you’re on or near IUPUI campus and are looking for a good lunch, give them a try.

I did not dine here. I was going to stop by for brunch, but apparently I had read the hours wrong and when I thought they served until 11am, they only served until 10. The problem is, I was at the front desk of the restaurant, waiting and waiting. Diners kept staring at me and there were no waiter in site for a good 5 – 10 min. Then an old waitress storms across the floor, and when I smiled and said hi to her, thinking I will finally be served, she goes, «we’re closed. I just forgot to put the sign up front»(with a frown). Confused, I went up to the hotel front desk where the staff also confirmed that the restaurant indeed closes at 10am for brunch. «So what is open now?» I asked. «Nothing» she responded. Granted it is my fault to have remembered this restaurant’s hours wrong, I was surprised for this hotel, a supposed 4 stars, had NOTHING open at 10:15am. Finding the situation rather silly, I went right back up to my room to grab my coat and walked over to Subway to have a little bite, and then when Noodles & Co opened for business, walked in to grab a tasty curry noodle soup too. I don’t know if I will bother trying to dine at this restaurant for the duration of my stay… aside from their hours, how awfully quiet they were and how those other diners just kept staring on me made me feel downright uncomfortable. Seems like from the other reviews I won’t be missing much either.

The wife and I went to Chancellor’s for dinner last night. Walking away I’d say that it was a solid 3-star experience. We were greeted promptly at the door and shown to a table. the inside of this place is fantastic. Very pretty. My wife thought that the placemats were a little 70’s, but I liked them. The service was good, but did have some problems. Our server started us out with a round of very cold water(which is great). I asked for the wine menu, but I didn’t really go over it with any sense of detail. I was just looking for a glass to have with my meal. I ordered a glass of the Bogle petite syrah. Tasted great, but was incredibly overpriced. I paid $ 9 for a glass of wine that came from a bottle that I could pick up at a store for nine or ten bucks. We ordered our entrees. I ordered the lamb and my wife a vegetarian pasta dish. She also ordered a salad. Some bread and oil arrived at the table and not long after our entrees showed up. Sans salad. I asked my wife if she still wanted her salad. She said no and our server then mentioned he forgot about the salad. I think this turned out better because pasta is so filling. The food was OK. It was nothing spectacular, though. And for $ 28, I want more meat. The lamb that arrived at my table — while well prepared — was tiny. It was a lot of money for such a small amount of food. The veggies with the lamb were excellent, though. Summer squash, carrots and some fingerling potatoes that really seemed fresh. The big fail of the meal was my wife’s pasta. It was one gigantic mess of stickiness. All the noodles were just stuck with all the other noodles. It was weird. I’m not sure if that’s from being overcooked, undercooked or what — or maybe that’s how it was supposed to be, but you had to sort of ‘cut’ the pasta to eat it. We didn’t order dessert, but the menu looked fun. I think my wife would have had the berry crisp, but it wasn’t available. A previous review of Chancellor’s lists a disappointment that the online menu and the in-house menu weren’t the same. We experienced the same, but diners need to keep in mind that it’s a ‘local’ menu. Chef Noble is trying to source from Indiana and so the menu isn’t always going to have everything available. That said, when we asked about duck our server said that the menu we were viewing online was the Winter menu. Yesterday was August 24. I *hope* the Winter menu is not still what’s posted online. Again, solid three stars, but not necessarily something I’d visit again. I don’t feel that you have to approach the place with caution or anything. The restaurant is in the same complex as the University’s conference center. If you need to impress a client and take them somewhere nice, this isn’t bad and it’s on-site. For some conference goers that’s important. Parking is complementary with your meal. Just have your garaqe tab and present it to your server BEFORE you get your check. Good luck!

We were a little disappointed because the menu was different from the menu listed online. We were more disappointed with the food. I ordered a pasta with veggies. The veggies were good but the pasta was relatively dry with just a little bit of olive oil and no real sauce to speak of. My friend ordered lamb, which first came undercooked even though it was ordered medium. They easily fixed that, but the food was still just nothing special. The healthy glass of wine was a high point.

Suffice it to say that my experience at Chancellor’s was quite the opposite of Holly H.‘s, but then I was there during lunch. I also like the soothing, neutral-toned décor. I recently took a position at one of the large entities near the IUPUI campus and I really need a place like this to escape to once in a while… everything else in walking distance from work is a chain or fast-food place. The staff was fine, especially my server and the hostess. But, there was at least one male server who was kind of lurking about the dining room… I pretty attributed that to his not having had a table of his own at the time; it was early in the lunch hour when I stopped by. My food was very good, but I wish my entrée — the Asian Salad with seared Ahi — would have had more slices of tuna on it… only four was very disappointing for the price and also hard to spread out for enjoyment with the massive amount of greens and other salad ingredients. The fresh-baked bread was very good and consisted for three«breads of the day»: pretzel, fried biscuit and whole grain, accompanied by stone-ground mustard-flavored butter, apple butter and plain ‘olé butter. I demolished the biscuit with some apple butter and ate about half the pretzel bread roll with the mustard butter… and I normally don’t care for fried biscuits at all. I would definitely go back some time, but unless I can get more tuna with my Asian salad, I would not repeat that menu choice. Also, I may opt for the more casual, bar & grill side of this restaurant. I think it’s called Our Den? It looked bright, cheery and I’m guessing has a cheaper, less fancy menu. Also, my table was situated close to the server’s work area between dining room and kitchen, so I was the unfortunate passive eavesdropper on all the staff’s «behind the scenes» goings-on, which detracted somewhat from my «relaxing» lunch. Again, probably because the servers had too much time on their hands…
