Small shop. Friendly service. Best place to get 411 on nearby mountain biking trails as there isn’t a guidebook for the area. They have pre-​printed maps for $ 2. Well worth the money.

Came here with my bro-​in law. He’s into extreme mountain biking, and loves this place because of the expert service, and they get him back on his bike quickly after he busts something. Today, we dropped off his Santa Cruz after 1 pm because he busted his rear dérailleur and we picked it up after a hike through Marion Mountain.
I wish we’ve known it was that quick and easy. It took us a week to get our bikes serviced in Berkeley. The store has great bikes for all ages, coupled with expert guidance for riding, purchasing or info about the local trails. I would love to get a mountain bike for my son here. They rent bikes out, but they also they have killer deals on used bikes. They stock quality merchandise, so you don’t have to waste time sorting through junk. It was great discovering this place, the owner and staff were extremely friendly and they gave us great tips on stuff to see on the mountain for our four year old. Nowadays, it’s rare to find a pro-​shop without a snotty attitude. You see a lot of high performance bikes with City dwellers that never taste dirt. There’s an amount of respect you learn from the mountain that dries & shakes the snot out of your head. I love that this shop is all about riding.
The artwork sold in store is also fantastic. It would be a great place to find a gift for a bike enthusiast. Can’t wait to come back with my boys in the summer. Our short visit to Idyllwild reminds me of my favorite things about Colorado & Port Townsend wrapped up in one small package. California expats with a love and respect for the mountains.

Great little shop in Idyllwild. I bought a trail map and a T-​shirt. The owner was really helpful in recommending some places to ride. Definately check it out if your in town.

So glad I checked in with these people! I mountain bike and definitely went to the right place. Service was great. Owners are very knowledgeable about local trails and even steered me onto some hidden gems. Pay the $ 4 for the trail map and enjoy the ride. The only suggestion I would have is to color code the map for more difficult rides. Nevertheless, a great shop with great people

Great shop! I was so happy to find this super-​friendly, down to earth shop on my visit to Idyllwild. Nice selection of bikes for rent or sale.

The absolute worse… no…shocking experience I’ve ever had in any store of any type in my entire life. I have never been treated the way I was this past Monday. All I was trying to do was return two pieces of unused bike gear that I purchased and was unable to use and I was berated by a short, balding (hiding it with a hat) maybe 30ish a-​hole with a severe inferiority complex. The guy was so inept he didn’t know how to process a simple return. He then got frustrated and said I was a «fucked up guy who acts like you’re from LA». That was bad enough… but it was just getting started. As I stand there open jawed and speechless, he then gives up on giving me a refund on my card, dips into the cash register, hands me a twenty, and then throws a quarter as hard as he could at my chest (assault if I really wanted to go there). Then he goes for the nickel, and I duck expecting the worse, but he came to his senses and hands it to me. Last I checked, businesses except returns. This shops states it clearly on the receipt. No one… NO ONE should ever have to go through this. If I owned the shop, I would be itching to contact me to learn more about this encounter (open invite btw). By no means would I want someone representing my business that has any remote possibility of treating another human (MUCH LESS A CUSTOMER) in this manner. If he was upset that I was wanting my money back and not giving the store business, he should have remembered that I spent another $ 25 the day before on a hat and tire levers. Didn’t return that stuff, but not sure I’ll ever wear the hat again… thanks pal. My wife and I had a great weekend in idllywild, but I left with a severely sour taste in my mouth thanks to one douche. To the others associated with the store, I apologize… but it only takes one arrogant jerk to ruin it for everyone. I’ll be sure to bring all of my own stuff IF I ever come their again. I will also continue to spread the news of this unfortunate mishap… I know a lot of mountain bikers in socal. Cheers.

We were camping and our kids blew out the inner tubes in their bikes. The HUB saved our camping trip by having the parts we needed to fix our bikes and saved the camping trip. This is a real BIKE shop with real bike enthusiast in the middle of Idyllwild. Super nice and friendly folks!

All my local bike shops (LBS) told me a rear shock service for my Mountain Bike was going to cost $ 200, requiring a three-​week turnaround! That is already the cost of a new shock and the time lost, is simply unacceptable. Brendan did mine, for only $ 55, with a three-​day ETA. To me — it was clearly worth the uphill drive to the mountains.
Brendan is very skilled, knowledgeable of bikes and the entire Idyllwild trail network, which is simply awesome. He is also the builder and Chief frame craftsman of Siren Bicycles, his own custom brand of all-​steel 29er frames. All I can say is I WISH this LBS was closer to me!!!

I go here often. Great place for bike people. Brendan is great! He’s incredibly reasonable with his service prices. They know what they’re doing and have years of biking experience, they know their stuff. I cannot say enough good things about The hub.

A shop who cares about local trails and is welcoming to out of towners is a good thing. I stopped by during a road trip to try and find a ride and Brenden educated me, then invited us on the Saturday shop ride. It was a fun, cold ride and returning to the shop with a roaring fire was perfect.

Awesome service from Brenden. We are biking through on a long bike tour and he is bending over backwards to get our bikes better equipped for the climbs! He really knows his stuff, and gave us advice on camping and other attractions in the area. He even builds custom mountain bike frames. AWESOME!

They have rentals here. 40 miles of trails around the San Jacinto Mountains.
Passes are $ 5 a day or $ 30 for the year!

I went up to Idyllwild to talk to Brendan, the shop owner, about building a custom touring bike. While it’s a small shop they’re very welcoming and offer full service bike repairs, probably one of the few if not only bike shop that does frame repairs in Southern California. If you’re looking for bike trails in Idyllwild, they can point you in the right direction there as well.
While not related to the shop, if you are in Southern California and haven’t ridden in Idyllwild, I would highly recommend it. The landscape and trails are awesome… and best of all, there’s no smog compared to some of those LA area trails.
