Tautphaus Park

Quaint park in Idaho Falls provides a fun opportunity for families and citizens alike.
This little gem is tucked away on the Northern side of Boulevard in Idaho Falls. The park has many interesting stories involving its history. Tautphaus was named after the man who had given much time and effort to his city.
Tautphaus Park boasts a zoo. Huge area for picnics and other outdoor activities to be enjoyed by everyone. They also have a large number of shelters for any public outings so there is plenty of room for large families.
The park also has a skating rink and a skate park for the youth.
But the best thing about Tautphaus Park is… the Funland! This is a great thing for a small metropolis. It has a snack shack with plenty to offer including: Dipped cones, sno-​cones, drinks and much more! It boasts a total of 5 rides for entertainment. Of course a limited few are for children but the rest can be enjoyed by anyone. The rides include a Ferris Wheel, Merry-​Go-​Round, a train and plane ride for small children and last of all their most famous ride, the Octopus. Which I can’t ride because I don’t like enclosed settings. Last but not least they have miniature gold and this is one of the biggest things for me coming here. I love miniature golf and this is one of the hardest ones to play.
The only problem I have is that the park is becoming a recent haven for crime. After hours can be a nightmare for the innocent as many people go there looking to cause trouble. I am hoping the park can do something to curtail the crime.
The park is one of the city’s best attractions. And even in my 30’s I still enjoy going there.

The absence of any skate monitors or safety measures makes the ice rink a lawsuit-​in-​the making. The Post-​Register published of teens involved in an unsafe activity on Nov 28^th. Teens are allowed to play tag, speed at unsafe speeds, and play on skate aids designed for much younger children. It’s a shame that the city of Idaho Falls has no other ice rink.
