Best Western Plus Driftwood Inn

Most likely the best hotel in Idaho Falls. We’ve stayed at a different hotel in the past and it was very mediocre. This hotel is right across the street from the falls. There is also a beautiful view of the Mormon Temple from the front of the hotel. Some rooms have a view. Be sure to request it if you’re hoping for a view.
Our room was very clean and spacious. We had our five month old baby in his bassinet and there was still plenty of room. The bed was comfortable and there was a full length mirror on the closet door.
A hot breakfast was included in our stay. There was an omelette bar and self serve waffles. The breakfast was delicious and way better than a regular continental breakfast.
The service was excellent and the employees greeted us with a hello and a smile every time we saw an employee.
The next time we are in Idaho Falls we’ll definitely stay here!

This is a very nice mid range hotel. Looks recently remodeled, clean and comfortable. We stayed in a room overlooking the snake river in their upstairs units.

The short version: Cold showers and the only eggs that I have ever had in my life that were both burnt but simultaneously underdone and runny.
Were most of these good reviews written by friends and family??? I had a totally different experience. They renovated a old building which looks nice on the surface, but it that is only surface deep. My room smelled of mildew when I arrived and I was subjected to a cold shower with no warm water in the morning. If that was the end of it I would probably have moved on and went on with my life, but when I went to get breakfast they did not have any pre made scrambled eggs you find at most hotels, which I tolerate and eat on a regular basis when out of town even though they are not the best so my expectations are automatically lowered at hotels. Instead of those they have an «omelet bar» with an extremely rude and incompetent cook. First even though the only thing I eat for breakfast is eggs, she would only make one egg, because they only give one egg per guest she said. If that wasn’t even enough to piss out off after spending a lot of money on a room the one egg she made me was burnt. You know when it gets that darker brown color to it and tastes like sulfur, that’s what was served to me. So the next morning I requested that my one egg not be burnt. She still left the pan super hot and proceeded for the first time in my life to give me an egg that was both undercooked and runny on top and burnt on the bottom. I will never be back.

Nice location right by the river. The breakfast was great, the room was clean, the staff was friendly. The food was fresh and had a lot of variety. My favorite was the omelette station. The homemade banana bread was delicious. Overall, the breakfast was the most impressive.

Bittersweet stay: the hotel had the friendliest staff, but it did not have an elevator. We had to drag our luggage up and down the stairs to get to our room. Though a hassle, the view from our room was the beautiful Idaho Falls. The location is convenient, with Idaho Falls right across the street.

We stayed the Hilton Garden Inn last night and ended up at the Best Western tonight. The Hilton is really nice. It’s just a different hotel. The Best Western is laid-​back, the people here were really friendly, the flowers are amazing the rooms are clean. We sat on the porch overlooking the river and chatted with other guests. There is a fridge and microwave in our room. Super clean and well maintained. 3^rd generation family has owned the property.

Don’t stay here if you’re a light sleeper. It is 12:30 at night and I can’t fall asleep because of how poorly insulated the rooms are for sound. The person above us is walking around but it sounds like they’re stomping and everytime they do the light fixture in my ceiling rattles. The windows aren’t well insulated either because I heard cars and people walking by. I like the other amenities of the hotel but compared to the last BW I stayed at in Boise the lack of sound-​proofing ruined it for me.

As much as I would’ve to leave a good review like everyone else, I feel I should properly write out in details what has occurred to me in my stay, and why I will probably not be coming back to this hotel anytime soon.
This hotel was recommended to me through a family friend.
We arrived at 4am and were told checkout time was 12pm. Exhausted and a little exasperated I asked if I could delay the checkout time and the front clerk assured us, of course. As long as we wake up by 8am and alert the from desk we could sleep in until 2pm. We were also given very low rates and were exited to find a hotel in town for under 100 $ without tax, or so we were told. We also made it specifically clear how we wanted to pay and the situation. I tried to give the clerk my credit card information but he assured us nothing would be charged and that it was merely «on hold». No harm no foul. I woke myself up at 8 only to be told check out was 11am and I had no choice unless I wanted to stay, so we opted to stay. We had housekeeping knock on or doors several times in the morning when we clearly had the do not disturb sign, I felt this was really rude we were extremely wiped out. During mid-​day a poor man with his family was sent to our room assuming he was renting it out, and through a few phone calls found out we have been completely deleted out of the system. No records whatsoever, but our cards were being charged. The front desk woman who helped my boyfriend did not care until the man who arrived at out doorstep so to speak went downstairs and assessed the situation, and probably wasn’t too pleased. Hungry later that night, we looked in our bank accounts to figure out what to eat and realized the hotel had charged my boyfriends card 4 times, and left him negative. No manager in nightshift to help us out so we waited until the morning.
The front woman person, Heather, seemed very helpful at first. Very apologetic for her new team and oblivious training issues, and she assured she would do her best to handle the situation. We paid for the hotel the original way we intended, and were intended to be compensated for what had been taken out. We left, all of our money returned no harm no foul.
Two days later he checked his account again and found that the hotel has continued to charge his card, we have checked out? Why are you charging our card. I called the nightshift and spoke to the same gentlemen who messed up our original check in, gave us a wrong check out time, and never took down my card info. I expressed my concern and he flaunted «That he didn’t do it and there was nothing he could do» I wish I would have pointed out he technically was first and foremost at fault.
I left a message for the morning manager, Heather.
We contacted the bank before calling the hotel and were notified that not only did the hotel still have our card and on file but they were still containing to charge for days we were NOT at the hotel. I called the hotel manger and explained what was told and she rudely told me to «check my resources» because she didn’t know what i was talking about. After many phone calls and frustrations the front end manager began to hang up on my boyfriend and I when we called with our bank claims, and was disgustingly rude to my father in law, who knows the hotel owner, when he tried to go down to the hotel in person himself.
I do not appreciate the front end people Heater or Johnny for their rude behavior and complete write off whenever we called to express our concerns. I understand training issues, being a trainer myself, but I know you do not write off the customer when trying to fix an error caused by your company. It’s just bad business.
Thankfully our banker from back home has been able to give us back what was wrongly taken and we will be talking with the owner considering he’s a close family friend. We don’t want these people scaring away customers! This hotel deserves better than that.
Besides that, the hotel in itself is great! I think it’s time for some new and improved staff members :)

Their breakfast is phenomenal. They accidentally overbooked us into a room with two double beds. The upgraded us for free to the King George, the nicest room in the hotel. It was extremely comfortable and clean.

My room was clean, roomy and the bed comfortable. It had a microwave, small fridge, flat screen TV.
There is a great fitness room, a guest laundry and small business center/​room.
The breakfast was better than usual, as they have made to order omelets along with the normal breakfast items.
The front desk service was amazing! Super friendly & helpful clerks.
The area is great, (when there is not 2′ of snow on the ground), right at the Falls.

Quite possibly the best Best Western I have ever been too! Everything about this place is above and beyond! The rooms are very nice, the location is cute, the amenities are very very nice, and breakfast is amazing!

This is one of my favorite Best Westerns! Eggs cooked to order, the river right in front, bikes to borrow. The rooms are decorated very nicely. Beautiful paintings. I enjoyed the ambiance of this hotel. Cozy, quaint and the staff are friendly!

I am here now! Very happy about what we see. Clean room and a good view. Super friendly and helpful employees. Everyone seem so happy here… Not to mention the weather is perfect right now!

My wife and I attended a family wedding last weekend and because of price and the recommendation of Unilocal and Trip Advisor decided to stay at the Best Western Plus Driftwood Inn in Idaho Falls. For the most part, this was a delightful place to stay. The staff at the desk and the housekeeping staff were absolutely wonderful. The complimentary breakfasts (FULL breakfast) was the best I’ve had at any hotel anywhere! An omelet bar? Fantastic! The hotel (I guess you’re really call this a motel) is apparently two older motels combined. The updates that have been made are attractive and comfortable.
When I discovered the morning of the wedding that I had forgotten to pack a tie, the desk clerk LOANED me a tie to use for the event. Now, that’s service!
The rooms are neatly decorated and nicely updated. Great TV and a fantastic shower! The only thing that we didn’t love was the alarm clock (a new iPod, iPhone type music player/​alarm) which unfortunately went off at 5:00 AM — apparently set by the previous guest. The problem with the clock is that the display is difficult to see, and you can’t tell if the clock is set or not. Actually, quite confusing. I casually just mentioned the problem with the clock during check-​out, and the clerk on duty actually lowered my room rate! Again, service is number one here! These people really aim to please, and we were VERY pleased with our stay.
Also, the location of the Driftwood Inn is RIGHT on the Snake River Greenway, so you can just walk across the street and enjoy the beauty of the river, the Canada Geese that winter here, and the view of the LDS temple. It’s a lovely location! Also, you’re very close to some wonderful restaurants for those other meals. But seriously, don’t miss breakfast at the hotel. Really good!
We’ll be back, and we really enjoyed our stay. Unless you’re interested in spending from $ 30 to $ 50 more per night at one of the chain hotels, we highly recommend the Driftwood Inn for any family stay, business trip, or couple!

A very nice hotel at a great price. Clean rooms, great price, awesome breakfast with made to order omelets. Located close to I-​15, Walmart and good restaurants. Book online and save $ 10.

I’ve never given reviews for hotels but I gotta say for a budget hotel, the place is a great value: clean, newly renovated and right next to a river, the best part is the pet fee is only $ 10. Definitely stay here if you are passing thru in Idaho falls.

I was so incredibly impressed with this hotel. I normally don’t bother writing reviews about hotels because they are typically all the same.
Driftwood Inn-​Best Western was not that way however. First of all we ended up being way later for check in then we originally planned on being, normally when this happens you are greeted by the night desk person who is sleepy and not very responsive. We were not greeted this way at all. The front desk person was friendly and helpful. They got us into our room quickly.
Inside the room was incredible. We were on the ground floor and the room opened up into a full kitchen area with a large dining table (we had not requested a suite room, from the looks of it all of the rooms included these amenities). In the back was the bedroom with 2 queen beds with modern decorations instead of the normal tacky hotel decorations. Last my favorite room was the bathroom. There was a large shower with not one but two shower heads, making for one of the best showers of my entire life. The shower had excellent water pressure and never ran out of hot water with 3 of us in the room.
In the morning there was an excellent continental breakfast with a person making omlets, a waffle maker, biscuts and gravy, muffins, lots of juice options, cereal, yogurt, and fresh fruit. The only downside to the breakfast was that it only goes until 9AM.
Right across the street are the Idaho Falls water falls, with an excellent walking trail along it. We were in close proximity to lots of stores and restaurants.

We had a room facing the falls, so we heard the sound of water the whole night. It was relaxing.
Room was clean and service was as usual-​good.
Overall: good experience.
