Fairways at Star Ranch

The general facilities are okay.
But the parking is absolutely unacceptable.
If you arrive home after 7pm it’s almost impossible to find a legal parking spot anywhere. All the garages are rented and the parking covers are not close to the buildings. (For the record I tried to rent one or the other but there were no garages available and none of the car ports anywhere near my building has open slots.)
When we complained we were told to just park outside the complex. Well… there’s only 6 spots out there which are almost always taken before 9pm.
They tow anyone who is parked illegally including residents.
They will not give residents stickers or passes to let us have parking.
When I have complained I consistently told there’s nothing they can do except tow anyone illegally parked. (How does that help, exactly?)
It’s really frustrating. I will not be renewing.

Very disappointed with these apartments. I have lived in other apartments before and NEVER have I received on going BILLS. I moved out early and paid ALL fees I was told. Then a month later I get a threatening letter saying they are going to sent me to collections if I don’t pay this BILL. Next month again other BILL. These people are rude and will lie to you. I would NEVER recommend these apartments to anyone… Don’t move there unless you won’t to be stuck paying out money for months end even after you move out…

i had to give at least 1 star but if i could i would give it a negative rating. the new management is terrible … i wouldn’t move into this complex, even if it was free. the complex is now owned by a california management co. and along with it came the uncaring of tenants. its all a business to them no longer a community. we had 2 ladies almost kill themselves in a garage after doing drugs in an upstairs apt., but nothing was ever said about the incident by management. we have had a number of car break-​ins. its just a really bad place to live…

I have lived here for 4 years. When I first moved here sight unseen from the East Coast I was completely satisfied. Over the years management has changed several times. The first time management changed because Alexan went bankrupt and this property was bought by Lincoln. Management has yet changed again, and I feel this is the worst team that has been here. One of the employees is completely rude and want to talk to you as if you are an idiot. Then you have the children who are out of school, which is fine for them to play but to run up and down the hallway which echoes all day. Nosy neighbors that are not doing it to help you but try to hurt you. They don’t know your situation, but instead of them asking you they want to take it upon themselves to try to resolve something. The computer lab always have kids in there on the computer playing games, and you never can get on there to do what you need to do like print documents. Some of those kids have been in there as late as 2a. You can’t report it to the rental office because the parents feel that their kids can do whatever if they pay rent, but when things get broken that is the broken. The same thing with the gym, which clearly has an age limit to even be in there alone. The most unprofessional thing that I have encountered was recently when I put in a work out for some things to get done. The maintenance man came and he wasn’t even here 5 minutes before the property manager summoned him and another to come up to the office. I have NEVER seen any maintenance worker torn from their work of a paying tenant to have to go back up to the office since I have lived here. Then he didn’t come back for 2 hours because apparently after he did what was asked of him at the office it was their scheduled lunch break. Ironically, I needed a new kitchen drawer and I have yet to receive it and it has been weeks (almost 2 or 3), with stuff lying on the counter… I’m sorry but I don’t like things out of order! I had to call them to remind them because they forgot. Another issue is the attitude problem of some of the rental workers, when I asked for them to put the administrator code in the computer so I could access a certain site to print important documents they said they didn’t have the code! Now, why wouldn’t they have the code yet previous management had the code?! I don’t want to invest in a house because I don’t know how long I will be staying in TX; however, if God leads me to stay here in TX I am getting the hell out of this complex, I can’t deal with these neighbors and new management. At least the first team of management was very compassionate. When my neighbor (who doesn’t live here anymore) alerted the rental office that there was emergency because I had been missing for 3 days, I passed out after receiving a certain medication for my chemo. Once she explained my situation they moved quickly to get me out. Once back home after a month in the hospital they checked on me and everything because they know I don’t have any family here in TX. The one positive thing I will say is that my rent with the new management is very reasonable, but I also moved in here on a deal… I don’t even pay 750 for base rent.

A year after posting my original review I have to take back everything. Management has changed, AGAIN and instead of getting better its getting worse. So I have an electric smoker and I was told that I could not have my smoker on the premises so I sold it. A week later I see my neighbors with a propane smoker and I asked the complex about it and they said he will move it. Another week later, I see the same neighbor with the smoker again and this time I see the damn MANAGER getting a plate from him. Among other things here this was the straw that broke the camels back and we’re getting the hell away from here. As a bonus they removed the online rent payment system and now I have $ 50 late fee for something they removed. And don’t ;et them feed you that bull about the Star Ranch golf course because they have no affiliation with them. You will not get a discount or shuttle to the golf course.

I’ve lived here since August 2013. The management is wonderful! I highly recommend this complex!

Update:
The new owners hiked up the rent on everyone here with no discussion whatsoever. Most residents here work in Round Rock or Austin, choosing to commute to work because the rent was reasonably priced and the former staff was so nice.
But rent has gone way up very quickly, the new staff seriously do not care, and we all still have to brave traffic, tolls and higher gas prices here to get to and from work each day.
So, suddenly it’s not so cool that this beautiful apartment at Fairways Star Ranch has some unexpected amenities:
* It’s located on a toll road with an 85 mph speed limit, one of the highest speed limits in the country. So don’t bother thinking you can go for a run or ride your bike here.
* This county (WIlliamson) has harsher more expensive car inspection requirements than the next county 1 exit down the road!
*This town’s schools pale in comparison to nationally recognized Round Rock schools nearby.
*The main employer in this small town is an immigration detention center under investigation for raping detainees. (That was on the front page of the Hutto paper this past year.)
*Fairways Star Ranch has regular ant infestations of apartments closest to the field next door.
.*Coyotes hunt on the field directly behind the apartments. They howl in packs, and, no kidding, they ate my cat.
*There are regular spider infestations of the balconies from the same field.
*The gates in and out are totally hit and miss.
*Town police sometimes sit hidden at the nearest stop sign to pull over Fairways Star Ranch residents for not stopping behind the white line. No kidding, I“ve been pulled over for stopping a foot beyond the white line. No ticket, just pulled over and given a «talk to.» I guess Hutto doesn’t like having this place here.
*The internet service is impossible to use during peak hours because we are all so close together in these apartments. Even with a new top-​of the-​line router, we still can’t get a signal anywhere near walls that are shared with neighboring apartments.
Time to move on. And here I was thinking we were at home. Turns out we’re living in someone’s doomed corporate merger.

We absolutely love living here. But don’t tell anyone. We want to keep it our secret!
We have a stunning view out of each window. Everything is new and pretty inside. The staff is fun and always helpful. We have valet trash pick up 5 nights a week. The pools, putting green, gym and volleyball court are always pristine and empty.
I would be happy living here forever.
