The Duck Island Bread Company is a genuine scratch-​bakery where we celebrate and honor the traditions of generations of European bakers.

History

Established in 2012.

The company was founded by Robert Biancavilla, and is evolving from his desire to provide the local community with exceptional quality bread and pastries. Inspired and taught by European bakers from the United States, Canada, France and Germany, Robert hand-​crafts each and every loaf of bread and pastry from scratch in small batches, using only the finest quality ingredients.

Wow! Learned about this place on the weekend. Stopped in to pick up a few things to birng home. So good. The bread blew my wife away. Had a bacon and cheddar pastry that was yummy. Next time, I’m diving into the chocolate offerings. What a find. They blew me away.

OMG OMG Stopped in here after hearing a good write up in the newspaper so while hubby and the kids were next door at the barber I stopped in – I had high hopes and the first thing that hit me was the delicious smell of crusty baked bread. But I wasn’t in the mood for bread. REAL croissants delicious pretzel knots and an absolutely delicious «morning roll» (cinnamon roll without the icing) Would have tried the stuffed croissant but was getting too full. I was afraid that there wouldn’t be much left because I stopped in a little after noon but there seemed to be plenty. If now we can only convince them to at least open on Sunday but we can wish. Prices seemed very reasonable.

There is simply no other bakery like this outside of Paris. Croissants. Morning buns. Baguettes. Pretzels. Everything made from scratch with quality ingredients every step of the way. Started at the Northport Farmers Market and now graduated to a Saturday only store. Worth a trip from anywhere.
