Meet the Business Owner

Richard R.

Business Owner

Richard Reinwald is owner and co-founder of Reinwald’s Bakery in Huntington, New York and is a Certified Master Baker. Mr. Reinwald opened Reinwald’s Bakery of Huntington in 1988 and is a 3^rd generation retail bakery owner. He works in the bakery with his wife of 30 years, Carole. One of his three sons works in business making him the 4^th generation in the family bakery.

Mr. Reinwald is active in his local community and in the baking community. He organized a bread donation program for INN of Hempstead in 1984 which later expanded to Long Island Cares. Many participating bakeries continue to donate to this worthy cause today.

Richard has long been active in the baking community through his volunteer service for Retail Bakers of America (RBA) and New York State Association of Manufacturing Retail Bakers (NYSAMRB). Mr. Reinwald served as RBA president for the ²⁰⁰⁹⁄₂₀₁₀ term.

I was looking for an onion rye bread on par with the Florida Publix onion rye. Reinwald’s does come pretty close. I went in late on a Friday afternoon. They had no onion rye but the counter staff person said I could order one and put it on reservation for the next day. I asked when it would be ready in the morning. She said 9AM. I went the next day a little after 9AM and it was ready for me. It will not replace my love for Publix onion rye but it is a very tasty substitute. I had brought this previously to a family party and we ate our kielbasa on it. People really loved it and wanted to know where I purchased it.

Wow! I’m new to the area, so I’m not too familiar with the bakeries around here. I needed a birthday cake and checked out the reviews here for Reinwald’s. I am SO glad I gave it a try. The cake was absolutely outstanding. It was light, delicious and beautifully decorated. I will be going here for future special occasion cakes. HIGHLY recommend.

Bomb cherry crumb pie for thanskgiving. Also they make a great challah bread. Never had a bad cake or cookie from this bakery — over many years they are consistently tasty and fresh.

We go here all the time and love it. Mostly we get the German black forest cake which is excellent.
Their cookies and bread are also great. I probably haven’t tried 80% of the cakes they make since they have such a big variety but I’ve been very happy with what we have tried.

Reinwalds is another been around forever and there’s a reason why places. They excel at what they do. I have had many a yummy b’day cake from them. All great! Last trip the Petit Fours caught my eye, they were beautifully decorated, like dainty little jewels and they did taste as good as they looked, they were moist and almond flavored. yum yum delish! They do it all cakes, pastries, cookies & breads. Service was excellent as well.

Reinwald’s is my favorite local bakery. We are now at the point where every birthday day we need comes from Reinwald’s and our relatives look forward to eating the cake because they know how excellent it will be. Their cakes are always moist and fluffy and flavorful. Their whipped cream is light and with the perfect about of sweetness. These are not the fanciest cakes around, but they are well priced and delicious.
We recently tried their cupcakes for the first time and found them also to be excellent. They also have nice breads and doughnuts and cookies. One of their best deals are found in the coffee cakes and breakfast rings.
Employees are always nice and they are well staffed. I have nothing bad to say about this bakery!

What a great bakery! I went there the first time to buy dessert for New Years Eve. The place was packed. They do use the number system (which I totally missed when I walked in) similar to a deli in a supermarket. The machine is on your right side as you walk in.
I bought a Kahlua Amaretto mouse cake which totally blew my mind! Delicious, soft and fresh.

Need a legit German bakery? Look no further. Terrific pfeffernussen. I wish I could say the same about the turnovers — mediocre. I wish they were flakier. :-(
Authentic joint, down to the ceiling-mounted bakery string dispensers (I love those things). I have to order up a black forest cake — that will be the next test. I will for sure be back — I’ve yet to find a bakery that fits my every need, though Reinwald’s does a good job.

Let them eat cake~ Reinwalds is a great bakery to have north of Jericho Tpk on NY Ave. (the same road as RT 110 which is south).
Called in a have it your way birthday cake in the morning… .whipped cream only. two vanilla layers, one chocolate in the center. custard, and chocolate pudding, .haha… It was ready by noon. Not bad! Asked for pastel décor in four spring colors, Soft blue flowers maybe some yellow, some light green and light purple décor light light light… not dark and inky. nicely done!
Almost perfect yet again, these German bakeries are where to go! The whipped cream is extra light, the cake a bit dense. Not a perfect match but awesome just the same (see black forest dense and awesome. or princess/very light). Everyone loved it! So fresh! and the chocolate cake was really flavorful, the vanilla custard cream layer was definatley homemade and very good.
Ranking 3^rd for birthday cakes in an around LI. (please don’t say «go to Itgens» lol)
The woman at the counter told me their German cheesecake is light/, amazing, and must be tried.

was in huntington and decided to stop in at Reinwald’s.
The service was fantastic.
staff friendly and very helpful.
i went in for rye bread and a cannoli.
the rye bread was very good and the cannoli was delicious.
The place is truly amazing, They have a huge selection of cakes and what looked even better were the mini pastries they had. I was tempted to by a few.
there was at least 30 – 40 different minis and each one looked better than the next.
You can be sure ill be back again real soon and this time to try the mini pastries.

Reinwald’s is a true German bakery that is sure to tantalize your taste buds. From onion rolls and rye bread to custom order cakes and the single most amazing jelly donuts known to man, Reinwald’s has it!
Whether it was a customer order I planned in advance or just stopping by I have never been let down. They use only the best ingredients and create fresh and vibrant pastries, cakes, breads and donuts. It’s just not the holiday’s without a trip to Reinwald’s and their fresh baked stollen (with or without marzipan.) Speaking of marzipan, Reinwald’s hand crafts fruit and vegetable shaped marzipan that will bring out the German in all of us!
Be for warned, this place gets crazy around the holiday’s. Place your order in advance and show up with your patience in tow.

Lets start with the cake. It was really good I could not stop eating it until it was all gone (of course I did have some help.) I normally do not eat sweets Reinwald’s may have changed my outlook on that. I also got a box of assorted cookies I did not get around to trying them but they seemed to be a huge success at the party.
The people working were very friendly. I was not sure what I was really looking for when I first got there they were able to assist me and keep things rolling along. I plan to go there again before heading out to my cousins birthday party this year.

I came to Reinwald’s while visiting a friend in Long Island and I was surprised to find out the resemblance between the pastries from Long Islands and the ones from South Florida. I was expecting it to be much better, but I wasn’t disappointed or anything.
The people behind the counter are very nice and attentive and the price is very reasonable.
Overall, I’d rather look for other, better bakeries around the area but I wouldn’t mind coming here again if I was in a hurry or something.

Whenever i’m off to a family gathering or if I need bread for a big dinner I come to Reinwalds. It’s my favorite bakery in the area and they have so many options.
The dutch apple pie is to die for. The apple crumb pie as well. Their crumb cake is amazing. They have marzipan too which is such an incredible art and for me just too cute to even eat.
They also have cookies you can buy by the pound or they have tables with pre-wrapped trays.
The only non-delicious thing I got from here was a peach berry pie but it was really the wrong season to be buying such a thing anyway.
If you come the day or two before a major holiday be prepared to park up the street, take a number and stand around for a while. They are fully staffed and the kids are actually pretty knowledgable but it just gets crazy in there.
They usually have a coupon in the valpak if you live around here so use it and try something! You really wont regret it, I promise!

Great place for special occasion pastries. Reinwald’s is producing excellent products. Everything here is super fresh and I’ve never been disappointed.
I would rate FIVE stars if they served the HOT CROSS BUNS year round instead only at Easter. They are so addictive I special order several dozen and freeze them.
