I have been going to the same mechanic shop for 8 years and then decided to try Top Tech Automotive. Dave is great at explaining what is wrong with my vehicle in a way that I could understand. Every time I would go to my previous mechanic it would cost me an arm and leg. Overall I love this place. I highly recommend this place for their honesty, knowledge and great prices.

They were awesome. I had a problem with my catalytic converter and my headlights and they fixed the same day. Their prices are very reasonable and they explain the work that they did or going to do in detail. And they give you the option of choosing of getting your car fixed or not. They really know what they’re doing. I completely trust them with my car. They will be my main mechanic from now on.
So, stop on by and get your car fixed. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about. If you don’t understand all mechanical jargon, they will explain it to you in terms you can understand. So, check them. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Our starter went out on our BMW and we just moved to Huntington Beach and didn’t know who to trust. After calling various shops getting quotes. My wife talked to Barbara and really felt comfortable with her demeanor and knowledge and we decided to go with Top Tech Automotive. A women’s intuition is seldom wrong and this was definitely not the case. They diagnosed and fixed our starter the same day and truly were a blessing. They really care about their clients and gained a new one for life. Expert master technician that showed me the diagrams and reasons why we needed to replace our starter and truly loved his profession!

My first review was for the PREVIOUS owner.
This review is for the current owner (s). It’s an older, balding guy and his wife.
They appear to be nice people, but i’m not going back ever again.
The prices for regular maintenance went up drastically from the old owner. The current owner’s are charging almost double what the previous owner did for a simple oil change on a simple sedan. I continued to go because it was familiar and I figured he knew what he was doing, etc.
Then, my car broke down one day and wouldn’t start. I had it towed here. I left it overnight so he could diagnose the problem.
When he finally called me he said, «We would need to fix the distributor, but that’s a $ 900 job and I can’t guarantee that it will fix the problem.»
I told him to absolutely NOT do that work. I came and had it towed home. Once at home, I looked up instructions on how to change the distributor for my vehicle on youtube. It looked relatively easy.
I have absolutely no mechanical or auto experience, knowledge or training whatsoever… but I went to Autozone and bought the distributor for $ 190 and replaced it myself following the instructions of a 5 minute youtube video.
It was easy, it worked, my car has been running great every since and it only cost my $ 190 versus the $ 900 that this guy was trying to charge me.
I saved myself $ 710!
I don’t think they’re dishonest, they’re just very overpriced. If you don’t mind paying a lot extra, then i’m sure he does great work and you’re supporting a small, local business, etc, but I’m not rich and work too hard for my money to hand it over to people like this.
If you do decide to go, be aware that it’s literally just him and his wife running the entire show and if you’re in a rush or don’t want to sit around waiting for your car all day, then find another place because speed and customer wait time is not a priority for them at all.

I just took my daughters car in for an oil change for the first time since we bought it plus the ‘check engine’ light just came on. We also knew there were other things that would need to be replaced/​repaired. Dave and Barbara were extremely professional and knowledgeable with the car. They went into detail the things that needed or should be changed. I volunteered to have the ‘should be’ items changed as they would need to be changed sooner or later. He even went so far as to actually show me the old parts and explained why it was needed to be changed, and even what would happen if it didn’t. He even found the rear brakes needed adjusting to prevent uneven wear, where someone else had previously installed them. When my daughter got home, she took the car out and said it felt like a new car. We plan on taking our other car there as well next time it is needed for tune-​ups.

I’ve been coming to Top Tech Auto for almost 10 years. They always offer EXCELLENT & HONEST service!
I used to come here when Trent owned it and was so impressed, I only take my car here when it needs servicing (which luckily for me, isn’t too often).
There are new owners… Dave and Barbara… who are about the nicest people ever.
They too offer EXCELLENT AND HONEST service!
I had to bring in my Lexus because a few lights were on, including my ‘check engine’ light and he ran the diagnostic for free, just to see what code I got.
I now need to have them actually service my car and I will be making that appointment today!

My son called me from school, «Dad my car wont start» so I asked him what happened and he explained he helped jump start one of his friends car, this procedure caused my son’s car to get stranded, no good deed goes unpunished they say! I was worried that they crossed something and would cost a fortune. Barbara meet me with a great smile and asked Dave to take a look, a few minutes later Dave returned with Great news, car only needed a new battery. Thank You Barbara and Dave, I was expecting a large electrical related bill and was pleasantly surprised with the good news, Thanks again!
P. S. I now know where to send my son with his car without me having to be there.

I thought I was getting a bargain when I bought a car «as-​is» without regard for the fact it was without a current smog certification and had multiple engine and emission related problems. What a mistake. Thank goodness for Dave and Barbara at TopTech.
Dave skillfully checked and diagnosed all relevant systems to component level, repairing by hand what he could and replacing parts only when necessary. When searching for replacement parts Dave researched and called around for prices and alternative compatible parts used on similar cars, mindful of the expense and my limited budget. When all the problems were solved, I think Dave was just as happy as I was — having solved several vexing problems.
Dave is not only a very skilled technician, he is also trustworthy. I have the fullest confidence in Dave and will recommend him to my friends and family without hesitation.

Two for two now! I have gone in to Barbara and Dave twice now for simple oil changes. The first time, Dave found a leaking part that was under warranty — I went to the Lexus dealer and got it replaced for free. Today, Dave noticed that my back shocks were leaking. Again, the parts were under warranty and I got them replaced for free. Dave and Barbara’s thoroughness is amazing!

Awesome mom n pop mechanic! He will explain everything to you in a straightforward, honest, no BS manner. Very ethical mechanic, uses OEM parts and really puts forth a quality effort! Will definitely return!

It looks like it’s been a while since someone has posted a review here, so I thought I’d leave my 2 cents.
First off, the shop is no longer under Trent. However, Dave and Barbara are wonderful people, and meet the same standards of honesty and valuable service that the reviews attribute to Trent.
Dave and Barbara provided excellent and timely service. I called them with a blown radiator (a 5 inch crack right along the top) and they explained that, due to the location of the crack, I was safe to drive over, as long as I watched my temperature gauge. They serviced it quickly, got it back to me, and told me a couple other things to keep my eye on.
Excellent service, and I’ll be coming back with all of my auto needs.

I have been going here for over 15 years. We found this place though a friend and have never gone to another mechanic.
Trent is one of the most honest mechanics I have ever met. I have wanted to have certain things done to my car that would have given him a great deal of money but he explained to me why I did not need it. If I’d done to a dealer you know I would be out a great deal of money.
I tell everyone I know about him and they have all have been very, very happy with both the service and the cost.
My nickname is the coupon lady so you can tell him I highly recommended him. You won’t be sorry.

I’ve been taking my Honda to Trent for many years and have always received excellent service. Top Tech always gives much more personalized and prompt attention to their customers than I have ever received at any dealer.

I’ve been going to Trent for years, and whenever I refer a friend there, they are always really happy with his service and prices. Trent is super honest, direct, no BS, hardworking, his rates are very fair, his work is super high quality, and not to mention, one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. He specializes in Hondas, but he can work on any type of car. Seriously, stop getting ripped off at your dealer’s and just take your car to Trent for everything!

Yep Top Tech is the best automotive service shop I have ever been to. Especially if you have a Honda. Don’t go to the dealership, don’t go to someone that doesn’t specialize in Honda — go here. And his rates are ridiculously low.

There are only 2 mechanics I trust in California — and Top Tech is one of them.
I found this gem when I worked at the bar around the corner — the owner, Trent, is a good, honest guy who won’t give you the runaround. He’ll fix what’s wrong with your car & give you an honest deal.
In an industry that’s ripe with dishonest people, it’s refreshing to have a mechanic to call on when needed.
