Always took my cars I here and got good service. Went back today at 3:30 and they were closed even though their stated hours say they close at 5. Oh well. Had to go up the street to a competitor.

The one thing I look for when I go to a shop, no matter what kind, is the cleanest of the place and this smog shop was clean. Did an excellent job in a timely manner and got me out of there with a smile.

I have always dreaded going to get the smog test done on my car because the places are just not friendly. I was so lucky today when I decided to check on Unilocal for a good recommendation and found Surf City Smog center. There was no long wait, the service was great and Nelson (who did the test on my car) actually made sure that the waiting room was warm enough as it was about 50 degrees outside. Excellent service!

Nelson is a great guy! I came here on a recommendation to get my car smogged and there werent any problems whatsoever. I was in and out and didnt have to wait in any ridiculous lines.
When the process of getting a car registered is a headache in itself, this place makes at least getting smogged a breeze.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in need of a smog check and they have a detail area in there too so if youre in need of a detailing, they can do it for you on the weekends.

We stumbled upon this place because it was right behind Sully’s Auto Repair.
This place is clean and the guy running it was very friendly. He quickly got our car in and did the test and at a reasonable price.
We passed and he gave us the paperwork and we were out.
They have a clean waiting room and bathroom.
I recommend this place to everyone.

Nothing worse than that DMV form that says SMOG CERT required! (Why do they write in all caps? Do they think I am BLIND? Maybe I need an eye exam also???) How about a _​_​exam?.. Went with Surf City Smog Test Only as I’ve been there twice before and was very impressed with Nelson, the owner. He actually makes this ‘painful’ experience fun, especially since my car always passes. He explains the results, patiently showing me each area the test covers. I pay $ 50. (takes credit) and I drive away a happy-​smog free Unilocaler!

Well, it was that time again. The dreaded TEST ONLY Smog time.
My old school «beater with a heater» 1986 4Runner needed to get smogged. These guys made it a breeze, and I just watched a football game on the tube while waiting.
Of course, my review is excellent because I passed — right? Could be, but this place just felt right, and the employee (forgot his name) was really cool. Plus it wasn’t a sleazy dump, like some others. Check the details below…
