Yeah again not the old Luggattis but the food isn’t bad it’s just not the same. My grief is the service all the way around. We first walked up at around 6 to the hostess outside asked for a table outside and she said she had a large party coming for that table. My date and I looked at each other and said you want to eat at the bar and the hostess said«wow that would make my job a lot easier.(wrong thing to say) But we didn’t care that much so off to the bar. Great greeting by the bartender that was clearly overwhelmed and doing his best. one bartender on a Saturday night at six? The next bartender showed up very soon after we arrived and started to help, but the chaos was already too much. All the while the large owner just stood their and stared at the end of the bar for the duration of our dinner. We didn’t get our salad till the meal came so we just canceled that, no bread(like the old Luggattis) no utensils or napkins, we had to ask. Also had to ask for a second round of our drinks. The food was great, but the owner clearly doesn’t care. I’m sure he will when they close again…

Best things were 1) barkeep was concientious enough to smell and pour out the old bottle and open up a fresh pinot noir for me. Nice that they pour McMurray Sonoma coast. — yeah, I’m a bit of a wine snob. 2) sound track was solid, best of 70’s on a Mon PM. Tried the meatball app and it wasnt up to snuff, sauce was good, but meatballs were probably sitting around all day and getting hard . Staff was ok, but not prompt, If I didn’t walk up to the bar, I might have died of thirst. as it was Mon pm with about 30 patrons

If I could give Luggatti’s less than one star I would… This is nothing like the Luggatti’s was!!! The food was really bad… The service was bad… They serve bread but ran out ! The server said, we could buy bread but that they would not be making more«come with your meal bread!» Wow this place has really gone down hill fast.

Luggatti’s now 5th Street Grill has amazing food despite what some of the critics are saying on Unilocal.Every time I go in(last time was Monday night) I grab a pizza and the House Salad! The best salad in Huntington Beach! It has golden raisins, tomatoes, lettuce, a lot of croutons and is a huge portion! I usually get the vegetarian pizza and it is always delicious. The Pineapple Coconut Margarita is awesome and also the Anderson Valley Boont Amber Ale is so good, tastes like caramel. My acoustic/reggae/alternative rock band CALICONSCIOUS will be performing here on Saturday October 26th! We love playing music at this venue, they open the windows and we always get people coming off the street for a good crowd at the bar! If you enjoy good live music with positive lyrics and a conscious message you should cruise in! We play mostly originals, but we throw some covers in by Bob Marley, Steel Pulse, UB40, Sublime, Jack Johnson… etc 8:30 — 11:30pm! LISTENTOTHEMUSICHERE:

What place deep fries their chicken breast? Gordan Ramsey would have a field day if he were to drop in here. This place doesn’t stand a chance against all the other restaurants on Main Street in HB. Perhaps the patrons who come here have been drinking so much that they will stuff anything down in order to sober up a bit so they don’t get pulled over by all the police cars lining the area now(post US Open Surf riot) but if you’re sober and hungry, I have 2 suggestions for you: 1) Turn around and walk back out that door and head next door to The North Shore Poke joint, or a 2) Order up a whiskey diet. Make that a double! And make sure you come during their Happy Hour that lasts until 7pm. Wells are only $ 4 and tacos are only $ 1 each.

Made our yearly US open of Surfing stop in here for tequila shots and some pizza. It’s become sort of tradition ever since we first found this spot 3 years ago off the beaten path of the long line no service main street HB. The place has a fun vibe, with a smaller crowd, that can be a nice change from the hectic mess of DTHB during the open. The bartenders were nice and the food came out quickly and accurately. I don’t know if it was because of the big event that weekend, but the prices for the drinks seemed a little steep. But hey, nothing compliments a slice of Za than some overpriced well tequila ;) Can’t wait until next years open to give me an excuse to come on back.

Surprised to see Hollywood Blonde playing here on a Saturday night. They’re usually at bigger dance venues, and that’s part of the problem this night. The music was great, nice bunch of songs, but way, way, way too loud. (Or I didn’t have enough Martinis to be flailing around on the dance floor, like most of the ladies.) All they had to do was turn it down enough to hear a few words…

I had a great time at this restaurant! I noticed there was a lot of negative reviews but on our way out the hostess did mention something about change of ownership/name. The atmosphere was great: nice bar scene, brought candles out during dinner hours, and even has a live band in the corner from 3:30 — 6:30 and after he left, the music was still moderately loud(with good songs). The menu had a pretty good selection but I decided to go with the Mac n cheese that was listed under starters which was homemade white cheddar with bacon. I loved it(although can’t say I’ve tried a Mac n cheese dish I haven’t liked)! My boyfriend had the blue cheese burger which he said was«not bad». Their happy hour was posted 11am-7pm which I thought was great but am not sure exactly what the deals are. Good for a fun easy date night!

I wrote a review awhile back when they reopened. Out of fairness to another the new owner I feel I should give them another chance. I have been there 3 times and every time the food was GREAT! Portions are HUGE and there is a lot of flavor. The service on the other hand has been not good at all… after watching the staff interact I believe it is a training problem and overall attitude. Examples: 1)Met up with a group of friends in the bar area and the server dropped off their drinks and even though I made eye contact she ran away and did not take our beverage order. She came back 5 – 7 minutes later after anther server already took our drink order and was all pissed off and huffed away. She was cold and nasty to our portion of the table the rest of the evening. 2) Received our food order from the food runner and asked her for another plate. She never brought one or even communicated this to the server and did it a SECOND time to our table and then watched another table ask for the same thing! She doesn’t get it and should be fired, customer service is not her thing and her attitude was disgusting. 3) Bartenders take way to long to make drinks… waited 10 – 15 minutes for each drink order. The live music is really good but this place still needs some work on their service! Hopefully they figure it out sooner than later as it is nice not to be on main st for a change.

We are locals to Huntington Beach and decided to try something new. The bar is well stocked and nice to look at, but the service was terrible. The waitress tool our drink order and didn’t come back for 15 minutes. I tried the $ 5 special pineapple and coconut margarita and it didn’t taste like pineapple or coconut. We orders our food and didn’t see the waitress again for 20 minutes, no drink refills, no silverware and when the food came the fish and chips for my husband were burnt and my meatball sub was bland and lacked sauce, even the potato chips with my sandwich were burnt. We were very hungry and didn’t want to wait for another order of food… We had been there 45 minutes already. So we ate as much as we could and left. 3 hours late both of us it sick from the food. I am not one to post bad reviews, but the service was bad, the good was burnt and flavorless and to top it off we both got sick… I can’t let that go. Caution to anyone who goes there, looks are deceiving.

I am really shocked at the negative reviews of Luggatti’s, because when I went, it was literally one of the best overall dining experiences I have had in a long time! My parents, who complain about most of the«nicer» places I take them to, were even incredibly complimentary about Luggatti’s! Went there for a late dinner and started with the spinach artichoke dip. This appetizer was the perfect size for the three of us and we all really enjoyed it. The tortilla chips were crisp and fresh tasting and the dip had cheesy, but was not consumed by cheese; you could still really taste the spinach and artichoke. I ordered the ahi sandwich and it was out of this world. I order ahi pretty frequently at many restaurants who specialize in seafood and hands down, the ahi at Luggatti’s beat them. It was only about $ 11, had a huge piece of ahi, a soft, freshly baked roll and was served with a massive amount of their delicious seasoned fries… cannot be beat! My dad got the Big Porker and it was massive! The burger was cooked well, just like he likes it, and was smothered in delicious toppings. He told me it was one of the best burger’s he has ever had. If you like really bountiful burgers, that’s the one to get! Finally, my mom got the cowboy burger, and it was so big, she could only finish half. The bacon was high quality and not fatty or greasy at all, which she really liked. I took a bite and the sharp cheddar cheese was the perfect accent to cut through all of the meat on this burger. Definitely the one to get if you want a more simple burger, but with a great range of flavor. The service was fantastic, our waitress was very personable and her recommendations were great! We were able to sit on the patio and enjoy the nice weather, while watching the NBA Playoff’s on their TV’s. If we had asked to be seated inside, there was a Blues band just about to start. Great dining experience and great food! Highly recommended if you’re in the area and looking for a great bite! Another plus, was that it was about 9pm on a Saturday night and it wasn’t full of drunk idiots like many other places in the area :)

Horrible. That’s all you need to know, but I’ll tell you why. We went on Mother’s Day. I guess we should have walked right out after seeing how empty it was inside when all of the other restaurants were packed but we figured we would give it a try. We ordered from there $ 5 drink specials for mother’s day. My drink tasted like they used POPOV in it or some other very cheap watery vodka. I guess that’s what you can expect for $ 5 but hey they put it on special. My dad decided to order another one of his drinks, but with a top shelf vodka in it this time. It was $ 18 for the new drink!!! And it tasted only a step above the first drink, definitely did not taste like top shelf. Maybe they used Barton’s that time. Service was alright. We asked for waters to wash down our horrible mixed drinks. She walked by us about 15 times before she finally brought us waters 20 minutes later. I don’t know how you mess up water, I don’t know if the glasses were dirty and they didn’t rinse all the soap off of them or what, but the water tasted like it had chemicals in it. And it wasn’t just one of the waters, all six of our waters tasted bad. I got the cob salad. The blue cheese dressing was an off-white, almost yellow color… gross. I only ate about a quarter of the salad because it was just not good. Especially for $ 13. None of us enjoyed the food and we didn’t eat much. Our bill was well over $ 100 for a large pizza(which tasted like a frozen pizza that they just threw in the oven for a few minutes.), 3 entrée salads, a burger, and 3 mixed drinks(2 of which were $ 5 specials). Over $ 100?! I would pay that at a good restaurant, but this place was only worth about $ 10 honestly. If that. Will never return, and will make sure people steer clear of here. Go to the Pizza Lounge on Main Street by Sushi on Fire and across from El Ranchito. MUCH better drinks, craft beers, and HUGE personal pizzas for cheap.

This is really a 3.5 star place, but I’m feeling generous(and currently polishing off the leftovers), so I’ll round up to 4. We started off with the spinach and artichoke dip, which we really enjoyed. Despite containing loads of cheese and cream, it was not heavy. Be forewarned that it’s pretty garlicky, which we like, but you may not. The best part might be the homemade tortilla chips, which were a pleasant surprise(we expected the ones from the bag) and quite addictive. We ate the Calabria pizza, which was a white pizza with caramelized pear, spinach, onions, and fontina. Instead of the chicken and bacon, we got the roasted rosemary potatoes(which were a little undercooked and crunchy). Luggati’s gets points for creativity; caramelized pear on a pizza is unexpected but actually pretty good. We got our appetizer right away, but I echo the other Unilocalers who complain about the slow service. We waited for what seemed like forever for our pizza to arrive(which also might explain how we easily polished off all the tortilla chips). Take note that there is live music on Friday and Saturday nights starting at 9 pm, and it is very, very loud. We were sitting in the back of the restaurant, far away from the musicians, but we still had to yell at one another and could barely hear.

I have never EVER not left a tip. Until today. Actually, that’s a lie, I left my coins but that is a first. I arrived here at 5:35 this evening, a Sunday. In the party there were 3 adults, 2 kids, and 1 toddler. We didn’t get out of there until 7:30… I took my last bite at 7:25 so there was no lollygagging afterwards. We are ordered and squared away within in 20 minutes(I think i’m being generous with that) with ordering our foods, we got all of our drinks. They were nice to take the kid’s order first and their food came out fairly promptly. They finished eating about 20 minutes after they got their food(their food took about 20 minutes) and I shit you not, they sat there for 40 minutes FORTYMINUTES until our food came! FORTY!!! They better have jumped in a boat and caught the lobster for my lobster ravioli and the mahi mahi in my friend’s dish. They better have a farm in the back, and killed the chicken for my friend’s grilled chicken. —The Food: The lobster ravioli was completely inedible. It didn’t even look like ravioli… It looked like they only had the middle of the ravioli and not the pasta around it. They also used some sort of lemony, citrus-y sauce that made the entire plate sour. SOUR. After waiting for my meal THAT long and for me to return it just shows how disgusting it was. I ended up ordering a kid’s pizza that my son had ordered because that was actually very good! The chicken in my friend’s meal looked absolutely disgusting. It was a weird brown color and it was supposed to be grilled but it had NO grill marks! The inside was even a weird brown color… —The Service: The girl was nice but that doesn’t equal good service. She only refilled my drink once, I had to ask every time I wanted more(my cup would be completely empty) and they didn’t refill the waters until our check came. The waitress would come by and apologize in the delay but the she would follow up with«is there anything else I can get you?» and all I wanted to say was, «just my food, you dumb bitch,»(I’m cranky when I’m hungry D:) but I decided against it. When I did complain about the wait, she said she would ask a manager if he could do anything for us but he didn’t come to our table, we weren’t offered anything gratis and our bill was for the full price. Which, I know, I shouldn’t expect it to have been lower or expect free stuff but I’m pretty certain this shows she didn’t speak with the manager on our behalf. All in all, I hate myself for suggesting this place.

Went back this past Sunday for dinner and it was all downhill… Service was slow. although the waitress was nice(not attentive, just nice)… Ordered the pork quesadillas, prawns venice and chicken parmesan… I came back here because my last experience was good despite the bad reviews. I can now agree with the reviewers and will not be coming back to waste my money. Very disappointed that being an italian restaurant — they cannot serve good food… Our 2 entrees came out — before our appetizer and we didn’t get any bread — we had to ask for it… the portions were soooo tiny, it was comparable to a tv dinner. I wouldve been more happy with a michelinda greasy $ 1 fettecine… These plates aren’t cheap either. $ 16 – 19 a plate… that couldve been over $ 30 tv dinners I couldve purchased!!! My prawns venice came out looking so disgusting — it looked like throw up — I don’t understand how they even served it! the angel hair pasta was all soggy and broken up, there were no strands in sight… I showed the waitress and she was even surprised how horrible it looked and took the plate back right away… my bf’s parm was so lacking volume and had had more sauce than noodles or meat– the chicken breast was so little it made mcdonalds 6 piece nuggets look like a supersized meal… The appetizer finally came out after almost 10 min of the meal… it was just okay… the green sauce on top of it was horrendous… finally my meal came back out it looked a bit better — only because they changed the noodles up… my meal was suppose to be angel hair — they replaced it with spaghetti… atleast it was better than the boxed angel hair… so if you’re looking for authentic — I wouldn’t recommend this place. Guess I was lucky the first time around because my experience then and now was like day and night… I left here disappointed and I will not be returning…

Geez… what happened here??? I raved about Luggatti’s to some friends so we brought them here for dinner over the weekend. Hmmm… I have to say I was kind of embarrassed. While my food was«good»…it just tasted kind of «old»…like the ingredients were not the freshest. Everybody at the table said the same thing. The waitress was busy and it looked like she was covering quite a few tables. I’m not sure if I would return here.

Had a groupon deal for $ 40 here so decided to give it a try… happy hour everyday 3 – 7! Save a couple bucks for appetizers and drinks! Calamari: wasn’t amazing wasn’t bad… it was something nice to munch on and dip in marinara to keep my mouth from being bored! Garlic twists: did not order this; however, it looked AMAZING. Pizza dough twisted and dusted with garlic, herbs, and cheese. Must come back here to get next time!!! Trentino pizza: this was their«meatball» pizza with riscotta and parmesan cheese. I added in mushrooms to spice it up a bit. Was very disappointed because pizza was extremely bland! No chili flakes or parmesan cheese could have saved this dish. The«meatballs» were actually sausage, don’t know why they call it meatballs. Will never order pizza here again! Pesto Farfelle: pesto green sauce with bowtie pasta, grilled veggies(which consisted of cut up mushrooms, zucchini, and other small mystery vegetables), sliced roma tomatoes for decoration, and I added in diced sausages. Mmm mm I LOVE pesto and this was cooked to perfection! Would come back to get this item!

After being closed down for a bit, this location is re-opened and serving up good Italian food again. I came here over the weekend with a group of friends and we had some solid eats. I ordered the pumpkin ravioli and it was delicious! We did have a small glitch in service when one person’s salad took incredibly long to come out. Our server apologized for the delay and offered a small make-good, which was appreciated. The wine list was great, as mentioned here before, but I was surprised that ordering a bottle of the Firestone Riesling had no advantage over ordering 4 glasses of the same wine. It wasn’t an expensive bottle, but when you break down the cost it’s virtually identical where I’m accustomed to at least a little price break. This is a great place to bring a group, but feels like a family-style atmosphere when it’s priced higher than that.

The Great Pumpkin Ravioli!!! Charlie Brown could not have dreamed of a better Great Pumpkin. This is the reason he waited all night! October is right around the corner and what better way to celebrate than eating pumpkin! This is on my top 5 list for favorite dishes from any Italian restaurant in So. Cal. Let’s see if words can describe it: «Pillow Pasta filled with Pumpkin and Sweet Butternut Squash, With Roasted Shallot, Fresh, Sage Cream Sauce Blended to Create a Subtle, Slightly Sweet and Extremely Delightful Dish!» YUM! It will run you about 14 bucks. Pair this dish with a wine of your choice or, better yet, booze! This place has great bread. They have an extensive menu, but I would stick with the pastas. They have good steak but it will cost you an arm and a leg. The clams are YUM, YUM, YUMMY! You might also like to consider the stuffed shells. Want atmosphere? Not here. This is a place to get your grub on. Loud people, dishes clanking, and noises from the kitchen and bar make this place unique and one of a kind.
